“Alone,” the History Channel survival series, is expanding with two spinoff series set to premiere next month.
Titled “Alone: The Skills Challenge” and “Alone: Frozen,” the spinoffs will follow in the original show’s premise of dropping challengers into the wilderness as they attempt to survive on their own the longest, with new twists to the formula as well as return appearances from past contestants.
“The Skills Challenge,” which premieres Aug. 4, focuses on three former “Alone” participants as they compete in build challenges, devised by another former participant, to develop shelter in the wilderness. Returning contestants from the original show include Callie North (Season 3), Lucas Miller (Season 1), Amós Rodriguez (Season 7), Britt Ahart (seasons three and five), Jordan Jonas (season six), Joel Van Der Loon (season seven) and Clay Hayes (season eight). USA Network has ordered a slew of series including a bar competition series from Blake Shelton and Carson Daly, a social experiment fronted by former American Idol mentor Bobby Bones and an Alaska-set survival competition from the producers of Deadliest Catch.
Barmageddon sees Shelton and Daly head to Nashville to open the doors to Blake’s bar Ole Red. With Daly behind the bar and Shelton taking the stage with his house band for live music sing-alongs in front of a crowd, the series sees celebrity friends go head-to-head in a series of bar games with a fun twist, including Air Cannon Cornhole, Keg Curling, Drunken Axe Hole, Sharts aka Shelton Darts. It is hosted by WWE star Nikki Bella.

PBS’ Masterpiece and BritBox UK have renewed “Sanditon” for second and third seasons.
The critically acclaimed drama series based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel will premiere on BritBox and later air on ITV.
Season 2 of “Sanditon” will continue to follow heroine Charlotte Heywood as she returns to the coastal resort of Sanditon and engages in intriguing and romantic relationships with familiar and new characters.
“Sanditon” will begin filming later this year in and around Bristol, and casting will be announced in the future.
Justin Young, who wrote four episodes of Season 1, will develop the new seasons, serving as lead writer and executive producer. Andrew Davies, who originally created the show, will return as a writer and executive producer.
Charles Sturridge is lead director, Rebecca Hedderly serves as series producer and Ian Hogan produces. Executive producers are Belinda Campbell for Red Planet Pictures, Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece and Chloe Tucker for ITV/BritBox.
