David Dimbleby will present BBC One's coverage of Margaret Thatcher's funeral on Wednesday, April 17.
BBC One's coverage of the funeral will begin at 9.15am.
Thatcher will be given a ceremonial funeral with full military honours, the same honour as given to the Queen Mother and Princess Diana on their deaths.
Lord Bell, who broke the news of the politician's death on Monday (April 8), said: "She specifically did not want a state funeral and nor did her family.
"She particularly did not wish to lie in state as she thought that was not appropriate."
He continued: "And she didn't want a fly-past as she thought that was a waste of money - somewhat in character you might think.
"She expressed those views to me personally and she will get what she wanted."
Nevertheless, the Daily Mail has launched a campaign to give Thatcher a state funeral, and urged its readers to sign its petition.

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, most commonly known as the Iron Lady, has passed away at age 87.
Thatcher, who was Britain's first and only female prime minister, "died peacefully following a stroke this morning," her spokesperson Lord Bell said earlier. Thatcher retired from public life after a stroke in 2002 and suffered several strokes after that, notes CNN.
Meryl Streep, who has won an Oscar in 2012 for her portrayal of Thatcher in the film "The Iron Lady," released a statement honoring the late politician. "To me she was a figure of awe for her personal strength and grit. To have come up, legitimately, through the ranks of the British political system, class bound and gender phobic as it was, in the time that she did and the way that she did, was a formidable achievement," said Streep. "To have given women and girls around the world reason to supplant fantasies...

Former Conservative prime minister Margaret Thatcher has died at the age of 87 following a stroke, according to her spokesman.
Lord Bell said: “It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning.”
She was British prime minister from 1979 to 1990 – the first (and only so far) female to rise to the post, and sparked controversy with some infamous policies that made her a figure of occasionally bilious hatred from political opponents and their followers.
Born Margaret Roberts, she became the Conservative MP for Finchley in 1959, and stayed in a political role until she retired from the Commons in 1992. During that time, she took on the role of education secretary, before successfully challenging Edward Heath for her party’s leadership in 1975, and subsequently winning general elections in 1979, 1983 and 1987.
Her time in power took in a particularly turbulent time in UK history,...

Margaret Thatcher is by far one of Britain's most polarizing figures over the last half century, and so it is no surprise that the upcoming film about her life is already causing debate and anger.
Starring Meryl Streep as the former British Prime Minister and conservative icon, the film depicts both Thatcher's professional life, including her hold on power between 1979 and 1990, as well as her personal journey, which includes her rise to the top and the years following her exit from office. The film isn't out to the public yet, and only a limited number of people have seen it, but just the idea of it has some of her allies up in arms.
"She was never, in my experience, the half-hysterical, over-emotional, over-acting woman portrayed by Meryl Streep," Norman Tebbit, a member of her cabinet and former Conservative Party head, wrote in the Telegraph of London. She could be difficult and demanding,...

London, Nov 15: Meryl Streep's most awaited film of the year, 'The Iron Lady' has already sparked controversies especially among friends of Margaret Thatcher, who think the actress is 'cashing in' on the former Prime Minister.
In the new biopic, Margaret Thatcher has been portrayed as a lonely figure sliding into dementia.
Former colleagues have already distanced themselves from the film, which is scheduled for release on Jan 6 and is expected to garner a 17th Oscar nomination for Streep.
"I can't be bothered to sensationalise this rubbish," the Telegraph quoted Lord Bell, who as Tim Bell was a key PR adviser.
