Former BBC Studios exec Caroline Stone has joined the UK-branch of French film company Pathé, Pathé Productions, in the newly created role of commercial director.
Pathé said the appointment consolidates the expansion of its business in the UK into premium scripted television.
Stone was previously at BBC Studios Productions for 15 years, where she had a variety of roles including, since 2020, Commercial Director of Scripted where she helped Studios establish critical distribution partnerships with all the leading drama producers in the UK.
Pathé said that in her time at BBC Studios she was also instrumental in helping build a substantial portfolio of wholly owned or majority owned scripted production labels, as well as part of a list of successful investments including: Small Axe, The Pursuit of Love, Sherwood, Raindogs, This Is Going To Hurt, Happy Valley and Mood.

“Rrr” Star Ntr Jr‘s next film “Devara” will release in two parts, director Koratala Siva has revealed. The first part will release on Apr. 5, 2024.
The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor (“Mili”) and Saif Ali Khan (“Vikram Vedha”) in pivotal roles. “Devara” reunites Ntr Jr with his “Janatha Garage” director Siva, whose last film was “Acharya,” starring megastar Chiranjeevi and “Rrr” star Ram Charan.
Siva said: “The film is set against the forgotten lands of coastal India and the canvas is too big. As we started shooting the film, the canvas revealed itself and started getting bigger and bigger. Every character in the film has its own weight and they need to be explored and established in depth and in detail, which we can’t justify in one part. The man who struck major Channel 4 deals for the likes of The Handmaid’s Tale and The Great is headed to BBC Studios to head up commercial for scripted.
Nick Lee is exiting Channel 4 after a decade to join the BBC’s commercial production and distribution operation as Commercial Director, Drama and Comedy. He replaces Caroline Stone, who was promoted to oversee all scripted at the start of this year, and also takes on most of the responsibilities of recently-departed Commercial Director for Comedy Jonathan Blyth, with some of the existing team taking on added responsibilities.
Reporting to Scripted Productions COO Saul Venit, Lee will be responsible for developing the commercial strategy for BBC Studios’ overall portfolio, which includes the likes of prison drama Time, Daisy May Cooper’s Am I Being Unreasonable? and Nicolas Winding Refn’s upcoming Famous Five reboot. He will lead on key partnership deals and drive new business.

Exclusive: BBC Studios is eyeing more LA expansion after Mark Linsey relocates early next year, while Linsey has unveiled changes to his scripted team.
The BBC veteran was revealed at Mipcom to be relocating across the pond in January, where he will continue in his role as Managing Director For Scripted. Once there, he will be placed “geographically closer to key global content decision makers” as he oversees BBC Studios-owned indies including Killing Eve producer Sid Gentle, Small Axe firm Turbine Studios and Sherwood’s House Productions, along with BBC Studios Drama Productions.
Speaking exclusively to Deadline for the first time since the Mipcom news broke, Linsey said his relocation will be just the start.
