One week into it’s worldwide release, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has spawned a multiverse of conversations surrounding grief, fate, honor and duty — all themes that add new texture to viewers’ understanding of both the singular hero’s journey and the multiplied power of community. Having grossed more than 400 million worldwide to date, the film is at once deeply present, and Afrofuturist while dwelling in the past; the immediate invocation of the ancestors and portrayal of inherited traditions guide the sequel’s cast of characters in the absence of the late Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa) in order to carry the next generation forward.
When reflecting on her preparation for the role of Nakia, Lupita Nyong’o tells The Hollywood Reporter she had to face the task she was given, “which was of a woman who was at a different stage of accepting the loss than I was.

It has been just over two years since Chadwick Boseman died, and now his widow, Simone Ledward Boseman, has given her first interview since her husband’s passing.
In a sitdown with Good Morning America, Simone spoke highly and personally about her time with Chadwick Boseman, saying, “I can’t believe that I got to love this person, and I also got them to love me too.”
She also noted that the final months with her husband, who she married privately not long before Chadwick Boseman’s death, came during the Covid pandemic, which proved to be a blessing in disguise. “Everybody was in their house, and there was no pressure for anybody to go outside…It seemed like, Is this a crazy coincidence that we get to actually be inside? We get to be here with family, together. And everybody in the world is also experiencing this togetherness in the midst of this awful,...

“Black Panther” director, Ryan Coogler, recently recalled his final conversation with Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular Marvel superhero.
Appearing on the Nov. 3 episode of the “Wakanda Forever: The Official Black Panther Podcast”, Coogler said: “My last conversation with him was calling to ask if he wanted to read [the script] before I got notes from the studio.
“That was the last time we spoke. He passed maybe a couple weeks after I finished,” he continued, referring to the script for the film’s sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, which hits theatres on Nov. 11.
Coogler went on to note that Boseman sounded tired through the phone.
“I could tell he was laying down when we were talking,” he said, adding that Boseman’s wife, Simone Ledward Boseman, was also present during their call. “He kicked Simone out because he told her he didn’t want her to hear nothing that could get...

In an interview with Whoopi Goldberg on "Good Morning America," Ledward Boseman spoke about her marriage to Boseman, the legacy he's left behind, and how she's "making her way through the world without him," as Goldberg explained to her cohosts. "I met this person who is this wonderful man, and he then ended up being a global superstar and really, after 'Black Panther' came out, it did kind of happen overnight," she told Goldberg.
Goldberg asked if, following Boseman's sudden superstardom, the couple worried that his private battle with colon cancer would be made public. But according to Ledward Boseman, things really started to "spiral" with Boseman's health around the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, which meant his public absences...
