Dolly Parton honored Tom Petty with a gorgeous cover of his 1985 song, “Southern Accents,” which will appear on the upcoming tribute compilation Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty.
“Southern Accents” is a tender ballad about Southern roots and a down-on-his luck Florida orange-picker. Parton stays faithful to the original, adding her own country twang, and juicing the poignancy further with a music video filled with old archival footage of Petty.
“I was fortunate enough to get to know Tom over the years,” Parton said in a statement.

Nelly‘s ride with his fans during day two of Stagecoach came to an abrupt end.
On Saturday, the “Country Grammar” rapper was on stage during the music festival in Indio, California when his set was cut short — as it hit midnight.
According to Variety, the 48-year-old rapper was halfway into his hit single, “Dilemma” when the music shut off and the rapper left the stage without warning.
Fans got to experience a good portion of the set, which was billed as the “Late Night In The Palomino,” as the rapper performed some of his biggest hits including, “Country Grammar,” “E.I.,” “Ride Wit Me,” and hit country/crossover hit, featuring Tim McGraw, “Over and Over.”
Keeping things country, the rapper — who was joined onstage by his brother and fellow St. Lunatic, City Spud — performed a cover of Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man.”

Grammy Award-winning country music artiste Shania Twain released her new album, “Queen of Me” on Friday. The record is a limitless expression of pop that allows it to sit comfortably next to her many chart successors, enshrining it as an upbeat, playful, and joyous album.
The album is sonically inspired by ’70s and ’80s funk and rock – just like the sounds she grew up with and considered her heroes. It’s a departure from the past and a strident step into an ever-improving future.
The album consists of 12 new tracks. In the stand-out friendship anthem “Best Friend’, Shania affectionately gushes over her closest confidant as she emphasises “you always take the blame and you know I’d do the same for you. No matter what, yeah I got you, and I know that you got me.”
