Director Jai Mehta has talked about what went into the making of the upcoming thriller series ‘Lootere’. Directed by Jai Mehta, the gripping series follows Rajat Kapoor as the ship captain and his struggle with a criminal legacy.
Mehta said: “We had a process when it came down to setting up tension on screen, we started watching films to understand the shot-taking process and what goes into creating tension on screen; because tension can come in different forms.”
“It can be shown through characters, sound design, camera placement or music so there are lots of ways to bring tension but having 10 characters in one frame, it’s difficult to navigate that tension and make it seem real as well as chaotic at the same time,” he added.
The maker added: “These tense moments are rarely chaotic, they’re more still and quiet so we started going through pictures by photographers...

These days Meghan Markle is married to Prince Harry who you would think gives his wife some lavish gifts for Valentine’s Day. But the former Suits star admitted that she was spoiled on that day even before she found her prince.
Meghan used to run a lifestyle blog called The Tig. It was a passion project that she shut down in 2017 before she and Harry tied the knot. In her final post she told her devoted fans: “After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being the change you wish to see in the world. Above all, don’t ever forget your worth — as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough.”

Directed by Paweł PawlikowskiThe Polish filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski won best director, for ‘Cold War’, which follows two lovers from the end of World War II into the 1960s across countries and shifting political realities. Based on his own parents’ love story, this gorgeously shot, Robert Doisneau-esque (when in Paris) black and white period piece takes a slice of your heart away in its retelling.
Cold War reviews have been stellar as are the stars Joanna Kulig, Tomasz Kot.
“Luminous presence of Joanna Kulig, who on this performance is a powerful enough to become the Jeanne Moreau de nos jours. This film fizzes with a devotional energy and political relevance”
Nick James, Sight & Sound
“Kulig, as effervescent in her way as the young Jeanne Moreau, is the film’s life force”
Tim Robey, Telegraph 4****

Used up your vacation days? The news got you burned out, battered and blue? Well, let director Stanley Tucci offer this balm for frayed nerves, whisking you off to France with the amiable, shaggy-dog of a film that is “Final Portrait.” The story of artist Alberto Giacometti towards the end of his life, the film is less a biopic than it is a long ramble with an engaging eccentric, all set in Paris, 1964.
If this sounds appealing and oddly familiar, hey, you’re right on both counts. With his fifth directorial feature, Tucci returns to territory he previously explored with his 2000 outing, “Joe Gould’s Secret.” Both films tell of the relationship between a young writer and an older oddball, treading lightly on narrative to instead focus on the textures, settings and details that make up the older man’s vie bohème. Swap out Greenwich Village of the ’40s for...

Above: a theater advertising Billy Wilder’s Ace in the Hole (1951).If there’s one thing I love almost as much as movie posters (at least as far as the world of movie advertising goes) it is the movie theater marquee. I am particularly attracted to marquees in their more elaborately designed and outlandish incarnations, but I am also fond of photographs of marquees simply as a record of a moment in time when a particular film was out in the world. (One of my personal favorite Movie Poster of the Week posts was this examination of a 1930 photo of Times Square theater signs.)Over the past few years on Tumblr I have been collecting some of the best images of movie theater signage through the ages and today I am launching Movie Poster of the Day’s sister blog Movie Marquees. In Maggie Valentine’s The Show Starts on...
