We are going on record to say that the Survivor 44 premiere was one of the most chaotic and terrifying first episodes in the show’s history. There were four medical visits, one medevac, two Shots in the Dark played at Tribal Council, and a hidden immunity idol that negated the majority of the votes. So after the premiere, we needed some time to catch our breaths. And now, we’re on a mission to get two players, including Bruce Perrault, back on Survivor.

The Survivor TV show is one of the longest-running shows in primetime. While the game has changed a bit over the years, it continued to be one of the highest-rated unscripted series on CBS. Could Survivor be cancelled or, is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for season 43? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A reality competition series, the Survivor TV show is hosted, as always, by Jeff Probst. The 42nd edition was once again filmed over the course of 26 days (instead of the usual 39) in Fiji. Split into three teams called Vati Tribe (Green), Taku Tribe (Orange), and Ika Tribe (Blue), the 18 contestants compete for a 1 million prize and the title of Sole Survivor. Heading into the fourth episode of “Survivor 42,” the Vati tribe had just lost its first person as Jenny Kim was voted out after two ties and a dramatic open discussion. Meanwhile, Taku still had four members after losing Jackson Fox and Marya Sherron earlier in the game, and Ika was strong at five castaways after only ousting Zach Wurtenberger. Who was voted home tonight?

Throughout the first two episodes of “Survivor” Season 42, all we’ve seen of Tori Meehan is that she’s a tad paranoid and that she’s lying about her profession (she told her tribe mates she’s a caregiver despite actually being a therapist). In a new deleted scene, we learn something else about the 25-year-old therapist from Tulsa, Oklahoma: she thinks lizards taste “icky.” Warning: vegetarians may not want to watch the “Survivor 42” deleted scene above.
The two-minute unseen footage takes place on Day 4 at the Ika camp, shortly after the group unanimously voted out Zach Wurtenberger. Since this season doesn’t provide the castaways any rice for sustenance, Tori, Swati Goel and Romeo Escobar hunt for lizards at the water well. “We are on Day 4 and we are feeling the effects of the game,” Tori explains in a confessional. “No one else is looking for food. We need food.

After the medical removal of Jackson Fox from the Taku tribe and the unanimous elimination of Zach Wurtenberger from the Ika tribe, only the Vati tribe was still strong at six members as we headed into the second episode of “Survivor” Season 42. This week, an unlikely friendship formed when two castaways bonded over their differences, and the controversial Beware Advantage returned to the game.

Zach Wurtenberger had the unlucky distinction of being the first person voted out of “Survivor 42,” which premiered last week on CBS. The 22-year-old student started the game as an eager superfan, making early alliances with most of his tribemates. After losing the Immunity Challenge for his tribe, though, he was targeted by some of those same tribemates and was ultimately voted out unanimously. As it turns out, “Survivor” fans mostly agree with the tribe’s decision.
In our recent poll, which asked fans to pick who they think should have gone home from the Ika tribe, Zach earned a whopping 51% of the vote. The next highest was Tori Meehan at 29%, having caused a stir by going off alone into the jungle, with many of her tribemates assuming she was hunting for Hidden Immunity Idols. Next up was Rocksroy Bailey at 13%, who was also a potential target after putting in a...

One of the breakout stars of the “Survivor” Season 42 premiere episode was Maryanne Oketch, a 24-year-old seminary student originally from Kenya. The self-described “weird” castaway stood out for her big smile and seemingly endless enthusiasm. But now, after four days on the island, she’s starting to “rub people the wrong way,” according to fellow Taku tribe member Lindsay Dolashewich. Above, watch the Maryanne-centric “Survivor 42” sneak peek video for Episode 2, which airs Wednesday, March 16 on CBS.

The video clip starts out with Maryanne chopping bamboo next to Lindsay and Jonathan Young. When she forcefully swings down the axe, Jonathan stands up and moves to the other side of Lindsay. “Yeah, I’d move too if I were you,” Maryanne laughs. Jonathan then mentions how she looks like she’s a horror movie villain, to which Maryanne swings the axe and screeches, “Here’S Maryanne!”

CBS has released another deleted scene from the “Survivor” Season 42 premiere episode, and we have a feeling this one will stick with us for a while. In the 60-second video clip (watch below), the Taku tribe members laughed about how they assumed this season would have a “David vs. Goliath” theme based on each other’s physical appearances. The conversation then turned to muscle man Jonathan Young, with Jackson Fox likening him to a “hippie” and Lindsay Dolashewich calling out his resemblance to the God of Thunder, aka Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth in the Marvel/Disney movies).
Yep, now we can’t unsee it. Jonathan and Thor both have flowing brown locks, facial hair and a godly amount of muscles. While Thor wields his trusty hammer and dons a red cape, Jonathan relies on his bamboo axe and wears an orange buff. Watch the “Survivor 42” deleted scene right here:...

Jackson Fox still gets emotional when thinking about his medical removal from “Survivor 42.” The moment in question was filmed last summer, but only shown to TV audiences on March 9. “I’m broken because my dreams of everything I’ve been thinking about for 10 years is gone, just like that,” Jackson told Entertainment Weekly in his March 10 exit interview. “I had kind of forgotten about it until I watched it last night, and then I went, ‘Oh, that really hurt.'”
For those who missed the riveting episode, Jacskon was pulled from the Season 42 premiere after failing to disclose he’d been taking lithium until the day before shooting began. As Jackson revealed on the island with host Jeff Probst, he didn’t mention his lithium usage because he was “trying to just quit it completely because I didn’t need it anymore.” He had been taking the drug for sleep...

A Survivor contestant's journey has come to an end before it could even really start. In the two-hour season 42 premiere on Wednesday, March 9, tears were shed, a shoulder was dislocated and a castaway was sent packing. Suffice to say, it was one of Survivor's most dramatic premieres ever. The episode kicked off like any other, with the Taku tribe chatting around the campfire during their first night on the island. During the discussion, healthcare worker Jackson Fox shared that he initially auditioned for Survivor as a female, before undergoing gender confirmation surgery. And though his parents previously opposed his decision, they got to know the real...

The “Survivor 42” premiere is now in the books, and from the uniqueness of the first challenge (complete with fake blood and a cross-tribal alliance formed), Jackson Fox‘s unexpected early ejection from the game and the first proper vote-out of the season, fans already have plenty to talk about. Zach Wurtenberger became the first player of the season to be voted out of the game, following a lackluster challenge performance and some messy gameplay at camp. But do you think he should have been the one to go? Vote in our poll below.
Zach made a big first impression in the opening minutes of the game, with his enthusiasm for being on “Survivor” proving infectious to his fellow castaways. In a “Survivor” first, a contestant was medically evacuated from the Season 42 premiere when he failed to disclose certain medical information until the day before shooting began. The castaway in question, Jackson Fox, admitted in a candid Q&a with host Jeff Probst that he didn’t mention his lithium usage because he was “trying to just quit it completely because I didn’t need it anymore.” He had been taking the drug for sleep and anxiety, and not because of his recent gender transition.
Jackson now becomes the 16th person in “Survivor” history to be pulled from the game due to medical reasons. That last such player was Pat Cusack in Season 37 (“David vs Goliath”), who was medevaced in that cycle’s first episode due to a back injury.

“It’s a stigma,” Jackson revealed about the drug to Jeff during his final chat.

And just like that, the torch has been lit on “Survivor’s” 42nd season. (Does that make you feel old?) Jeff Probst is back as host of the Emmy-winning series, and this time around he’s brought 18 of his newest friends. The castaways come from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life as they try to outwit, outplay and outlast in the beautiful islands of Fiji. The ultimate champion will take home a cool $1 million prize, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves. In Wednesday’s two-hour premiere, viewers met the new players and found out who had the unfortunate title of being the first person voted out of “Survivor 42.”

Jackson Fox wants to play “Survivor” with honor, but he admittedly wants to get a little dirty. The 48-year-old hospital transporter from Houston, Texas claims in his CBS interview that he could get along “with a tree stump,” hoping that his Southern charm proves beneficial in the game (watch below). While he notes that he wants people to say “I treated people with respect,” he adds that he wants to be part of “a really big blindside.” Get to know all 18 castaways.
As a transgender man, Jackson understands what it means to find himself and his true identity, much like how “Survivor” can be its own sort of eye-opening journey. “I think if you can go through the process of pretty much revitalizing your entire life and baring it all, I think you can go on ‘Survivor’ and bare it all as well,” he opines.
