As we reflect on and put together the story of Robert Downey Jr.’s life, we have to agree that his portrayal of Tony Stark actually saved his career. Since the actor went from being a drug addict to one of the biggest stars on the planet, there has not been a better example of a comeback in recent memory.
For eleven years, he played the MCU’s Iron Man, which gave him all the things an actor could hope for: a stable career, exposure to a new audience, and, most of course, plenty of money. However, that does not tell the whole story. It was Downey Jr.’s role in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang that served as his “calling card to Iron Man”.

Working in a big franchise is a high-risk, high-reward venture for an actor. And even then, the aftermath may not be as favorable as one might think. There are roles that become embedded in the viewers’ minds, like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man or Daisey Ridley’s Rey, which makes it difficult for them to see the performers in a different role.

Though being in a highly successful franchise brings them copious amounts of wealth and fame, those looking to expand their resume look for more diverse roles. Marvel is looking to a new Vision for its next TV offering.
The Vision character played by Paul Bettany will be at the center of the studio’s first new series order in some time. The untitled show is currently on track for a 2026 premiere on Disney+, with Star Trek: Picard’s Terry Matalas installed as showrunner. A writers room for the series opened this week.
Bettany will reprise his role as Vision, which spans three Marvel films and the WandaVision series (plus voice work on the three Iron Man movies as Jarvis, Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence creation). At the end of WandaVision, Vision’s physical body was brought back to life (with an all-white appearance), with no memories of his previous incarnation; his memories are restored by the spectral Vision Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) had conjured to manage her grief as she put a hex on the town of Westview,...

Of all the titles credited to Robert Downey Jr.’s name to date, perhaps the one that perfectly aligns with his real-life personality is that of Tony Stark in his Iron Man saga. But while that is still regarded as one of his best performances to date despite him last playing it almost half a decade ago, his iconic portrayal of the fan-favorite character wouldn’t have been possible due to one movie.

This one movie was none other than his 2005 masterpiece Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which pretty much brought his career back on track. But his success through the film wasn’t the only thing that made Downey Jr.’s superhero debut possible, because what seems to have further added to his star-studded portrayal of Stark must have been the genius performance by Val Kilmer in the 2005 film!

It's now been over 5 years since Marvel Studios last released an Avengers movie. While Covid and last year's strikes have to take some of the blame, it's fair to say the McU's heroes should have re-assembled by now.
As we write this, Avengers 5 (previously titled The Kang Dynasty) is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow on May 7, 2027.
With Disney CEO Bob Iger pushing for Marvel Studios to get back top quality over quantity, there are concerns that there's no longer enough time to effectively build to the stories which need to be told in those movies. Then, there's the fact the Multiverse Saga's new big bad, Kang, is reportedly being sidelined.

Have you ever wondered how a single scene could redefine the trajectory of a character we’ve come to love? Numerous deleted scenes starring Iron Man throughout the character’s MCU history could’ve altered the direction of the franchise. Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., is certainly one of the most significant heroes in the MCU, having been the character whose tale once served as the catalyst for the film series’ narrative.

That being said, there were, nonetheless, numerous scenes in Jon Favreau’s film, Iron Man, that were never incorporated into the franchise’s canon. One such scene included when Tony found himself in a precarious situation during his battle on the Freeway with Obadiah Stane, dressed as Iron Monger.
During this moment, Terrence Howard’s character, Rhodey, came to rescue Iron Man from a brutal beatdown at the hands of Stane.

Marvel Rivals has been made available for select players for beta testing and the consensus is extremely positive. Players have spent a decent amount of time testing out different heroes and checking out their skills and abilities, then quickly identifying some major problems.
NetEase Games has a vision, which is to create a competitive video game where players can duke it out as their favorite Avenger. Some fan favorites, like Iron Man, have caught the attention of players due to his slow mobility, which is a direct contrast to other interpretations.

The first Iron Man film led by Robert Downey Jr. was the lynchpin that kicked off the MCU more than a decade ago. The flamboyant billionaire who went on to build a suit of armor from metal scraps in a cave became a household name when it was released in 2008. Downey Jr. would become a big movie star and the character would become synonymous with him.

The film had many memorable moments including Tony Stark’s time with Yinsen as they are kept captive by the members of the Ten Rings. As Stark is tasked with building a Jericho missile, He and Yinsen develop a great friendship through their conversation. However, a deleted scene from the film shows Tony doing some laundry for his captors. While fun, it is understandable why it was removed.

Robert Downey Jr. served as the face of one of the most lucrative superhero franchises in cinema history. But even in the middle of his run as Iron Man, he wondered if the superhero genre was starting to wear thin.

The concern for superhero fatigue has grown recently, thanks to the critical and commercial disappointments of certain superhero films. Some have pointed to Marvel’s most recent flicks as evidence of the concept. An argument can be made that Marvel’s content doesn’t resonate with audiences like it used to. But even during the peak of Marvel’s success, Downey seemed to feel fatigue was setting in.
“Honestly, the whole thing is just showing the beginning signs of fraying around the edges,” Downey said in a 2014 interview with The Telegraph.

Can we ever really say goodbye to the heroes that have become such an integral part of our cinematic experience? The speculations regarding Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man return has undeniably been a hot topic for every Marvel aficionado, resulting in discussions on countless online platforms.
However, when Kevin Feige gave Hugh Jackman his forthright yet poignant advice about not reprising the role of James Howlett in Deadpool & Wolverine— it turned out to be a harbinger for our beloved Iron Man’s narrative. Marvel boss was of the view that James Mangold’s flick Logan provided a fitting conclusion for Jackman’s portrayal of the mutant hero in 2017.

The debut of Episode 8 of ‘X-Men ’97’ marked the commencement of its three-part finale, advancing the overarching narrative while also featuring a notable cameo. Christopher Barnes’ Spider-Man made a surprise appearance following Captain America, sparking fan speculation about the integration of ‘Spider-Man ’94’ into the continuity of the new ‘X-Men ’97.’
Previously, it was established that all Marvel Animated series, while not aligned with the MCU canon, belong to the broader Marvel Animated Multiverse. This categorization holds merit, given the significant disparities between the older and newer shows, offering a logical framework for their coexistence.
After Episode 8 aired, well-known industry insider Daniel Richtman asserted that ‘Spider-Man,’ ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Silver Surfer,’ ‘Fantastic Four,’ and ‘The Incredible Hulk’ all inhabit a shared universe.

The release of ‘X-Men ’97’ Episode 8 Started the three-part finale, and of course, advanced the overall story of the show, but it also included one notable cameo. After Captain America, Christopher Barnes’ Spider-Man showed up in the show, which prompted fans to conclude that ‘Spider-Man ’94’ is truly canon to the new ‘X-Men ’97.’
It was stated a while back that all Marvel Animated shows, despite not being canon to the MCU, are part of Marvel Animated Multiverse, and that definition is truly sensible and logical, since the older shows (and by extension new shows) contradict each other in quite a lot of ways.
Now following the release of episode 8, notable industry insider Daniel Richtman stated that ‘Spider-Man’, ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Silver Surfer,’ ‘Fantastic Four,’ and ‘The Incredible Hulk’ are all set within the same universe.

Spoilers for "X-Men '97" follow.
You may not remember that the original "X-Men" cartoon from 1992 kicked off a flurry of '90s Marvel cartoons sometimes known as "The Marvel Animated Universe." This universe is less well known than the contemporary DC Animated Universe ("Batman: The Animated Series" up to "Justice League Unlimited"). The DC cartoons were overseen by a single creative team, so the connections were organic and culminated in story arcs. The Marvel cartoons, though? They all aired simultaneously (rather than in succession like the DC ones) and had different creators, so the most intersection was occasional crossovers.
"X-Men '97" remains laser-focused on the marvelous mutants, but it hasn't been shy about including cameos from other corners of the Marvel Comics setting. Episode 6, "Lifedeath – Part 2" featured Ronan The Accuser (you might remember him as the villain in "Guardians of the Galaxy"). Episode 7, "Bright Eyes," saw Rogue butt heads with Captain America.

The MCU has faced some tough times lately, with many big movies not doing well and even breaking some bad records. A lot of the new stuff coming up gets trashed on social media before it even comes out.
Take ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ for example. There’s a chunk of fans who just won’t accept Sam Wilson as Captain America, even though Steve Rogers got a good ending to his story.
However, most fans are pretty pumped about the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Secret Wars.’ A big reason is the possibility of different versions of characters. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is already buzzing with talk of 25 cameos and variants, and ‘Secret Wars’ is expected to double that once the media blitz kicks in. Marvel’s well aware of the hype, which is why they dropped an official reference to it during CinemaCon. In one scene, Deadpool starts...

The Russo brothers don't expect Robert Downey Jr. to return as Iron Man.The 59-year-old actor expressed an interest in reprising his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) earlier this month but the 'Avengers: Endgame' directors cannot envisage a comeback after the character's death in the 2019 blockbuster.Speaking to GamesRadar at the Sands International Film Festival, Anthony Russo said: "I don't know how they would do it. I don't know what the road to that would be."Joe added: "I mean, we closed that book, so it would be up to them to figure out how to reopen it."Robert confirmed last month that he would "happily" play 'Iron Man' once again and described the role as an "integral part of my DNA".He told Esquire magazine: "It’s too integral a part of my DNA. That role chose me.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ trailer recently dropped, and we’ve seen everything from nods to comic storylines to an overwhelming amount of cameos about to appear in the movie.
The movie sees Deadpool as he is set to return to his crime-fighting tendencies after he is recruited by the Tva to stop his reality from collapsing. Wade will attempt to talk Wolverine into helping him, but judging by the trailer Wolverine will be more than reluctant. The movie will introduce Cassandra Nova to the MCU as the primary villain as well as continue the Multiversal Theme of the MCU.
The thing with the movie is that there is a massive amount of publicity surrounding it, and that can be both a good and a bad thing. The good thing is that obviously, it’s going to pull the masses into cinemas, the bad thing? Fans have expectations that are through the...

When he’s not directing masterpieces like Killers of the Flower Moon and being tricked into being a TikTok sensation, Martin Scorsese can usually be heard railing against comic book movies. In one of his more recent takes on the state of the movie industry, Scorsese urged filmmakers to “fight back” against the onslaught of superhero movies, name-checking Christopher Nolan himself. Now, Nolan has responded, hitting on the point that big budget blockbusters and indie fare can share the screen…Can you imagine?!
As far as Christopher Nolan is concerned, he sees a necessity for both kinds of movies, as they support one another in terms of financing. “There’s always a balance in Hollywood between established titles that can assure a return in audience and give people more of what they want, that’s always been a big part of the economics of Hollywood…And it pays for lots...

Gwyneth Paltrow redirected one Marvel fan to studio executives after she was asked about no longer appearing as Pepper Potts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Paltrow debuted as the character in 2008’s “Iron Man,” the very first MCU movie. She had sizable roles in “Iron Man 2” and “Iron Man 3,” and she also appeared as Pepper in other MCU films such as “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (which she infamously forgot about) and “Avengers: Endgame.” The latter film marked her final MCU appearance for now.
During a Q&a with fans on Instagram, one follower wrote to Paltrow: “I’m asking this every time answer the question why did you stop with Marvel and do you miss [Robert Downey Jr.?]”
“Oh my god, stop yelling at me!” Paltrow humorously responded. “We just stopped doing it because Iron Man died. And, why do you need Pepper Potts without Iron Man? I don’t know.

This past week we lost one of the industry’s best. As Dan Green pulls his chair up to the great drawing board in the sky I look back on an amazing career. For me, Dan Green was probably the first inker I knew the name of. This comes from hunting down my back issues of Wolverine. Marc Silvestri and Adam Kubert were two of my favourites to track down issues of and Green was always the third name in the credits. Perhaps this is doing inkers a discredit. They are like drummers in rock bands in that regard. Essential to creativity but one step behind the limelight. If someone like Joe Sinnott was like the old-school drumming of Ringo Starr, then Green is more akin to the style of John Bonham. In my opinion, he was the first rock star inker.
The journey began for Dan Green in Detroit.

The Mike Tyson biopic has been bouncing around the ring for years, with Jamie Foxx set to play Iron Mike over a span that has seen the project go from a theatrically released film directed by Martin Scorsese to a limited series helmed by Antoine Fuqua and title changes from Finding Mike to Tyson. And while Foxx’s recent health scare put many on high alert, Tyson himself is hoping that the Oscar winner will still be able to put on the gloves.
Speaking with Valuetainment, Mike Tyson said that there is still a chance that Jamie Foxx will play him in the biopic, but doesn’t know what the recent circumstances could lead to. “It was a possibility. You know, I don’t know what’s gonna happen now, but you know, it’s a strong possibility…Jamie’s closer to my age, so in order to do him,...

If you’re one of the many folks who flocked to see Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 3, you no doubt wiped away a tear or ten when you watched Rocket Raccoon’s tragic backstory play out. But, is his origin the most traffic MCU Original of them all? Indeed, the MCU has dominated cinema for the past decade and a half and has given audiences some of the most memorable on-screen moments in history. Fans have developed close personal relationships with the heroes and characters to the point that they feel as if they’re real people existing in the real world. While that may not be true, it’s still a testament to how emotionally powerful the MCU has become that it allows audiences to empathize and care about completely fictional beings.

Groot appears in different forms in every "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie, but whether he's baby-sized or 10 feet tall, Marvel fans probably know his key characteristics: he's an anthropomorphic humanoid tree, best friends with Rocket Raccoon, and can only say "I am Groot." However, the original Groot was quite a different beast (and had a much larger vocabulary).
Groot's comic debut was "Tales to Astonish" #13, published in 1960. This means he predates every modern Marvel hero barring Captain America and Namor the Sub-Mariner — only he wasn't a hero at first. Co-created by Jack Kirby, Stan Lee and his brother Larry Lieber, the original Groot was a malicious alien invader.
"I Challenged Groot, the Monster from Planet X!" was the eight-page chapter 1 of a four-chapter issue. This means Groot got to be on the cover; his cover appearance was brown in the original coloring, but grey in the modern recolor despite the...

More than a decade ago, audiences around the world lost their collective minds at the mention of two words, “Avengers Initiative,” by Shield under-boss Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), seconds before Iron Man, the first entry in the ever-sprawling, metastasizing Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), faded to black into seemingly endless possibilities. Since that singular moment in 2008, the Disney-Marvel Pop Culture Machine has spun out an additional 27 feature-length films and five limited series on Disney+ of varying, sometimes mediocre quality, including interconnected trilogies for Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), each one leading into the other and more importantly, the four-film Avengers-related series, an epic, spectacular superhero team-up that wrapped up in Avengers: Endgame with the supposedly...
