Back in 1983, legendary producer Roger Corman brought the world a sword and sorcery film with an awesome title: Deathstalker. It was so successful, it paved the way for three sequels: Deathstalker II: Duel of the Titans (1987), Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell (1988), and Deathstalker IV: Match of the Titans (1991). The franchise went dormant for more than thirty years, but earlier this year we learned that it’s being revived by filmmaker Steven Kostanski – whose previous credits include Manborg, Father’s Day, The Void, Leprechaun Returns, Psycho Goreman, and episodes of the short-lived Day of the Dead TV series. Kostanski is writing and directing a Deathstalker remake that has Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick) on board to play the title character… and today, Variety has unveiled the first official image of Bernhardt in character! Raven Banner Entertainment has launched sales at the Cannes Film Festival’s market on the reboot of Roger Corman’s cult sword and sorcery film series, “Deathstalker,” which is currently shooting in Canada.

Deadline reports that Bruce Dickinson of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden has signed on to star in a horror comedy called Bjorn of the Dead, which is set in the world of tribute bands – and centers on a an Abba tribute band! Film sales and distribution company Raven Banner Entertainment and Vancouver production company Rogue Panda Pictures have teamed up to develop a TV series based on the podcast.
The podcast, whose third season will launch this fall, follows Sara and Noah, who wake up in complete darkness, trapped miles below the Denver International Airport with no hope for escape. Their only hope could come from the complete stranger they can send voice messages to.

Toronto-based genre specialist Raven Banner has acquired Canadian rights to Japanese box office smash Shin Ultraman, the latest incarnation of the Japanese superhero franchise from Tsuburaya Productions.
The latest Ultraman adventure grossed more than $30m at the Japanese box office and opened theatrically in the US through Fathom Events in January.
Raven Banner plans a summer release on Shin Ultraman, which takes place as Japanese authorities respond to the appearance around the country of giant unidentified life forms known as S-Class Species (Kaiju), when a silver giant descends from the sky to save the country.

Saul Hudson, better known as Slash, the British-American lead guitarist of iconic rock group Guns N’ Roses, has launched a horror production outfit.

Welcome Villain Films, a studio specializing in genre fare, has landed the survival horror thriller “Hunt Her, Kill Her.” It’s the company’s first acquisition since launching in March of 2022.
The movie, which was originally titled “Night Shift,” will be released theatrically on March 3.
Directed by Ryan Thiessen and Greg Swinson, “Hunt Her, Kill Her” follows a lone night shift janitor (portrayed by Natalie Terrazzino) during her first day on the job. She finds herself in an unexpected fight for survival when she becomes the target of sinister masked intruders. It premiered at the Chattanooga Film Festival and later played at other genre film fests, including HorrorHound and Chicago Horror Film Festival.

The title refers to the all girl punk rock band PussyCake, singer Elle, Sara (Aldana Ruberto), who is the drummer and Elle’s girlfriend, bassist Sofi and guitarist Juli (Sofía Rossi). Three years after making its film festival debut, the Spanish thriller Amigo is finally set to receive a theatrical release in the U.S. and Canada this Friday, December 2nd. The Spanish-language feature had its premiere at last October’s Sitges festival (under the title Y Todos Arderan) and is getting its UK premiere this week at FrightFest London. A North American premiere will follow in late September at Fantastic Fest in Austin.
