Chris Evans has heard the rumors of a possible Avengers reunion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next phase, but no one’s approached him about it thus far.
The Pain Hustlers star made an appearance on The View on Monday, where he discussed the rumors and if he’d ever return to his role of Captain America.
“You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me,” Evans said on the daytime talk show. “I think every couple months, someone says that they’re getting [Robert] Downey [Jr.] and [Chris] Hemsworth and Scarlett [Johansson], and everyone’s coming back!”
The actor didn’t outright rule out potentially donning the Cap uniform again, but he did point out that the storyline would have to be something important.
“No one’s spoken to me about it,” he continued. “And look, I would never say never, but I really — I’m very protective.

Marvel’s What If? Is back for a second series on Disney+ this December – and here’s the trailer to prove it…
What If? was a surprising, fun addition to the Marvel canon when it first landed on Disney+, perhaps because the sheer scale of storytelling possibilities is so huge.
Series one featured scenarios as wide ranging as Peggy Carter becoming the First Avenger and T’Challa becoming a Star Lord, to examining what might have happened if artificially-intelligent supervillain Ultron hadn’t been defeated by those pesky Avengers. It doesn’t look like the next run of the show will be pulling its punches either.
Promotion is underway for it now, and we now have a synopsis for the second series. It doesn’t tell us much, but nevertheless reads as follows:

"Things have gotten a little twisted in the Multiverse…" Marvel has revealed the official trailer for Season 2 of the fun spin-off series What If...?, where they present short stories based on crazy "what if" scenarios in the MCU. The first season launched in 2021 to mixed reviews, and this second season will be out to watch in December. One new episode will introduce an original MCU character named Kahhori, a young Mohawk woman who seeks to discover her powers after the Tesseract crash-lands in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy in pre-colonial America. In another episode, Peggy Carter / Captain Carter believes that the love of her life, Steve Rogers, is long-dead until he is discovered alive as the villainous Hydra Stomper. That sounds wild! The voice cast set for Season 2 includes Hayley Atwell, Lake Bell, Josh Keaton, and Jeffrey Wright back as The Watcher, the main character in this taking viewers into the various stories.

Marvel and Disney+ have been sprinkling out little details about season 2 of the Disney+ series "What If... ?" over the last few months, like a proper introduction to the Alternate Gamora, as well as the inclusion of Marvel's first Mohawk superhero, Kahhori, who was created specifically for the show. The character's inclusion was actually spoiled early when she appeared as part of a limited-edition Funko collectable, so it's clear that Marvel has high expectations for the new episode. The series has been called "the ultimate superhero fan fiction," and boasts some truly incredible animation.
The first season of the hit series looked at what would happen to all our favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe characters if things had been different. In season 1, we saw what could have happened (and maybe did in a different part of the multiverse) if Peggy Carter got the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers and became Captain Carter.

“The Marvels” are here.
The super-heroic team, consisting of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau/Photon (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), join together to rid the galaxy of a villainous threat orchestrated by Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton). Also their light-based powers are hopelessly entangled so that makes it difficult to strike out on your own. Not only are they faced with stopping a powerful foe (one that has a connection to both Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel) but they also have to figure out their group dynamics, especially since every time they use their powers they switch places with one another.
But what lies beyond the movie itself? To answer that we must first issue a major spoiler warning. If you haven’t seen “The Marvels” yet, turn back now, we’re diving deep into “The Marvels” credits scene. This will be here when you get back.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the season 2 finale of "Loki."
Burdened with glorious purpose, indeed. The messy, frantic, but constantly entertaining second season of "Loki" came to a thrilling close last night ... and probably not in a way that anyone could've expected. After spending almost an entire season building up the importance of Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors) and emphasizing their mission to fix the finicky temporal loom, the finale all but threw those red herrings out the window in favor of a much more character-focused and deeply satisfying conclusion to Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) emotional quest to find meaning. After realizing that he could opt for another way around He Who Remains' false dichotomy from last season's cliffhanger, which suggested that either the timelines remain under the Time Variance Authority's prune-happy control forever or devolve into complete and utter chaos, Loki made the ultimate sacrifice to essentially become the loom himself.

The MCU’s upcoming slate continues to face a whole lot of shifting, but for now at least, there’s still a lot more Marvel TV on the way.
At the start of 2022, there were 12 new Marvel Studios series slated to premiere on the streaming platform in the coming months/years, along with two returning series. Then, the studio announced a few more at San Diego Comic-Con. Now, as 2023 speeds to a close, many of those have come and gone. But like we said, there are still more yet.
Of course, it’s hard for anyone to keep track of all these series in their head. So, we went ahead and compiled a list for you of every confirmed Marvel TV show currently in the works to premiere on Disney+.

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ unveiled a familiar Marvel comic book think-tank, The Illuminati.
This iteration of The Illuminati originated from the alternate Earth-838. A formidable group, spearheaded by Earth-838’s Stephen Strange, formed to shield their universe from formidable threats like cosmic entities and interdimensional invasions.
The initial roster included Stephen Strange, Charles Xavier, Peggy Carter, Blackagar Boltagon, Maria Rambeau, and Reed Richards. Karl Mordo joined after Strange’s demise following the Battle of Titan. Unfortunately, the Illuminati met their end, thanks to Wanda Maximoff, who spared only Mordo.
Now, as per rumors circulating from a reliable leaker on X CanWeGetSomeToast, the Earth-199999 version of the Illuminati in the MCU will feature Carol Danvers, Wong, and Bruce Banner.

‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ introduced us to a well-known think-tank from the comics, The Illuminati.
That version of The Illuminati hailed from parallel Earth-838. A bunch of heavy hitters led by Earth-838’s Stephen Strange formed the Illuminati to safeguard their realm from major dangers like cosmic entities and interdimensional invasions.
The initial lineup featured Stephen Strange, Charles Xavier, Peggy Carter, Blackagar Boltagon, Maria Rambeau, and Reed Richards. Karl Mordo hopped on board after Strange bit the dust post-Battle of Titan. Unfortunately, the Illuminati got the axe later on, courtesy of Wanda Maximoff, who wiped out everyone but Mordo.
Now, according to the rumors started by a well-known leaker on X CanWeGetSomeToast, the version of the Illuminati from mainline MCU Earth-199999 will consist of Carol Danvers, Wong, and Bruce Banner.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is currently in its Multiversal phase, and the upcoming projects promise a plethora of exciting content. A noteworthy aspect of these upcoming endeavors is the increased emphasis on various superhero teams. While fans have predominantly followed the Avengers’ adventures, a shift is imminent with the inclusion of X-Men, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, and Midnight Sons, all either confirmed or rumored in the MCU.
Leaked information from sources like MyTimeToShine and previously DanielPRK suggests that Marvel Studios initially intended to introduce another superhero team called the Daughters of Liberty. A project dedicated to an all-female superhero team was in the works, but strikes disrupted the development schedule, casting uncertainty over several projects.

One peculiar thing about upcoming projects is the fact that a great emphasis will be put on various teams. The third episode of Loki season two is a wild trip back to the past as Mobius and Loki try to track down Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes, who have been Mia since the season one finale. They find the pair trying to alter history at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, and are also led to a variant of He Who Remains, one who could potentially help them with their temporal loom problems back at the Tva.
A ton of detail has gone into recreating the World’s Fair, and Hwr variant Victor Timely (Jonathan Majors) puts on a spectacle for the crowd there, showing off an early version of the loom that doesn’t yet work as described. But before Loki and Mobius clap their eyes on Timely, they meander through the fair and take in some of the attractions, including a diorama...

Hayley Elizabeth Atwell, born on April 5, 1982, is an actress from both Britain and America. She was born and raised in London and studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Atwell made her stage debut in 2005, starring in James Kerr’s adaptation of the Ancient Greek tragedy Prometheus Bound. Since then, she has appeared in various West End productions and television shows. Her breakthrough role came as Lady Elizabeth Foster in the film The Duchess (2008), which earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the British Independent Film Awards.
Atwell gained international recognition for her portrayal of Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). Is there any movie with more "movie" crammed into it than "Avengers: Endgame"? As the climax of The Infinity Saga, the film was tasked with capping off a shared narrative spread out across 21 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies released over 11 years. It's a film that goes from playing like the McU's answer to "The Leftovers" to an "Ocean's Eleven"-styled assembling-the-heist-crew flick to a zippy time-travel adventure that sees characters stealthily revisiting their pasts like they're Marty McFly trying to avoid running into himself in "Back to the Future Part II." And that's all before the ginormous third-act battle, in which virtually everyone who's ever popped up in an MCU film before joins forces to collectively wail on the villainous Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army for a solid half-hour (if not longer).

Whether it’s superhero fatigue or something else, there’s no denying that the MCU and the DC Universe are falling on hard times. Secret Invasion set record lows for Marvel, as did the reviews for Ant-Man the Wasp: Quantumania, and The Flash stumbled to become the lowest money maker in Warner Bros. history.
But let’s get a little perspective, shall we? These movies aren’t great, but superhero movies are, on the whole, better than what came before the MCU launched in 2008. Throughout the 80s and 90s, superhero movies were almost embarrassed to be about superheroes, forcing Batman into a lame revenge plot for the 1989 film and refusing to let Frank Castle wear his death’s head logo in the Cannon Films direct-to-video release. With the embrace of the genre has come better effects, brighter costumes, and outrageous plots that better reflect the high stakes the genre demands.

One of the earliest character integrations into the MCU, after a post-credits Nick Fury appeared in Iron Man, was the mysterious secretary Natalie, who was later revealed to be Natasha Romanoff, an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. with the codename Black Widow, in Iron Man 2. Established actress Scarlett Johansson, who had already gained acclaim with projects like Lost in Translation and tried her hand at big-budget action with The Island, would begin her journey with the franchise which would make her a household name.

“Mission Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One” and one of the revelations of the film, at least if you haven’t been paying attention over the years, is Haley Atwell, a huge scene stealer, who matches Tom Cruise beat for charming beat within the film. And yes, she’s famous for playing Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and famously starred in the short-lived spin-off series, “Agent Carter.” But Atwell’s seemingly always been slightly frustrated with her Marvel role, grateful for having the opportunity to play Peggy Carter, but let down a little by the series and some of her underwhelming appearances throughout the MCU.

In 2013, when Hayley Atwell took the stage for Trafalgar Studios’ production of The Pride, she had no idea that future co-architect of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Christopher “McQ” McQuarrie, was in attendance. Atwell had already read for McQ and Tom Cruise’s 2012 film, Jack Reacher, but on this particular occasion, McQ was so gobsmacked by her live performance that he took the actor out to dinner and stated his intentions to write a role for her someday. Well, someday became 2019, as McQ and Cruise needed a new leading lady to play Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One’s master thief, Grace.
Atwell has waited over 17 years for an opportunity like this in a blockbuster film. Yes, she’s played the fan-favorite Peggy Carter at least a half-dozen times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but her big screen opportunities were almost always in service of another character’s story, that of Steve Rogers/Captain America.

Hayley Atwell is no stranger to action, but the star is also a classically trained actress who has excelled in various stage productions, with two Laurence Olivier Awards noms under her belt. Combining those talents and interests in one role? That sounds up her alley.
Enter: Christopher McQuarrie’s “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” which sees Atwell making her debut in the eye-popping, stunt-heavy spy world for the franchise’s seventh feature. Alongside star Tom Cruise, Atwell’s pickpocket Grace runs, kicks, runs, punches, runs some more, and drives all over Europe in pursuit of a key that can save the world from nothing less than permanent destruction. Like fellow newbie Pom Klementieff, Grace is a totally new creation in this fast-paced world, and a character that relied heavily on Atwell’s own instincts to be crafted. Stunts and character work: the Atwell way.
Ahead, Atwell tells IndieWire...

Hayley Atwell has told how her 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' cameo was a "frustrating" experience. The 41-year-old actress reprised her role as Marvel character Peggy Carter in the 2022 movie, but she was surprised her alter-ego was killed off by Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch character so quickly in the film. Speaking on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, she said: "I’m like, ‘That wasn’t my choice!'"When she was like, ‘I could do this all day’ and then followed by she’s immediately cut in half by a frisbee. "And the audience being like, ‘She can’t do it all day. Apparently you can’t, so, egg on your face.’ That doesn’t really serve Peggy very well."Atwell portrayed an alternate version of Carter in Marvel’s Disney+ series 'What If...?', and the actress had "great fun" in the role. She added:...

Hayley Atwell is currently kicking butt in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” but the Tom Cruise-led action tentpole is not the actor’s first go-around with a Hollywood mega-franchise. Atwell joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Peggy Carter in 2011’s “Captain America: The First Avenger.” It’s a role she would flesh out in two seasons of ABC’s “Agent Carter” series, before lending her voice to an alternate version of Peggy in Marvel’s Disney+ series “What If…?”
Atwell’s Peggy Carter is a passionate fan favorite among Marvel lovers, which is why fans were so delighted when the character popped up as an alternate Captain America in 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and then made furious when she was almost immediately killed off by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). In a new interview on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Atwell called the cameo “a frustrating moment.

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” star Hayley Atwell said in a new interview that her brief cameo in last year’s “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness” was a “frustrating moment” for her and her Marvel character, Peggy Carter.
In the Sam Raimi film, Atwell’s Peggy appears as Captain Carter in an alternate universe and she’s quickly killed by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). The shocking sequence was a highlight of “Multiverse of Madness” for fans and included appearances from “X-Men” star Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Lashana Lynch as Captain Marvel, and John Krasinski as Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four.
As Atwell explained in an interview with Josh Horowitz, the star-studded scene went through many variations – and she didn’t even meet Krasinski or Stewart on the set.

With this week’s release of an entry in a blockbuster action franchise the old adage of seven being a lucky number will truly be put to the test. Now it’s not the highest number franchise as we’ve gotten Fast X or the longest running like the big flick from almost two weeks ago, Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny (way back in 1981). Of course, we can add on the inspiration for this series, actually a TV series (overseen by Lucy…really) which exploded onto the airwaves way back in the prehistoric era. Oh, but this “tentpole” has catapulted well past its “network” roots. Still, it’s tough not to hear that infectious theme music from Lalo Schifrin when taking in this rather long title Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. And now I’m seeing that sizzling fuse in my head.

It’s not unusual to see a musical based on a movie or TV show or even a comic. But “Rogers: The Musical” might be the first one created from a throwaway joke in a TV show spun-off from a film series based on comic books. Audiences can now check out the mini-musical, which runs about a tight half hour, at Disney California Adventure’s Hyperion Theater, through Aug. 31. I was lucky enough to witness the opening performance last week, followed by a panel discussion with some of the key creatives.
“Rogers” first came to life in the Disney+ show “Hawkeye,” in which Jeremy Renner’s titular Avenger finds himself taking in a Broadway show with his kids. The show hits a little too close to home, as it turns out to be an adaptation of the life of his friend Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America. The show...

Hayley Atwell’s Marvel Cinematic Universe character Peggy Carter was already a high bar to clear, but watching her performance as Grace, a pickpocket who gets roped into the world of Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) Impossible Missions Force is a worthy successor. Grace has a shadowy backstory but in just the first 10 minutes of her appearance, the audience learns she’s a master of thievery – and that took a lot of training.
“I trained for five months before we began shooting,” Atwell told TheWrap. “In that time, [director] Chris McQuarrie and Tom [Cruise], and Wade Eastwood, our stunt coordinator, would be monitoring my progress to see where my natural skills lay.”
The actress didn’t just have to master sleight of hand to play a pickpocket, but also working with knives and guns, doing unarmed combat, mixed martial arts – and stunt driving. Based on how successful Atwell was at each...

Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One expands on the themes of technological anxiety that animated last year’s Tom Cruise vehicle, Top Gun: Maverick, which McQuarrie co-wrote and began with the threat of human pilots being phased out in favor of drones and artificial intelligence. Here, the generic roster of villains that dot the Mission: Impossible franchise reaches its logical endpoint, with the interchangeable global terrorists replaced with an experimental A.I. dubbed “The Entity” that’s become sentient and gone rogue, prompting various national agencies and independent parties to embark on a hunt for the program’s site of operation to either destroy it or weaponize it for their own ends.
In both movies, the thematic subtext of A.I.’s looming threat is obvious, as much a warning against dehumanized warfare as a commentary on the increasingly soulless, anti-human nature of blockbuster filmmaking that...

Hayley Atwell and Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning – Part One from Paramount Pictures and Skydance. Most fans know Hayley Atwell from her seven appearances in Marvel Cinematic Universe films as Mi-6 Agent Peggy Carter. A mainstay of the MCU as sometime Agent Peggy Carter, Hayley Atwell._ But who exactly is she playing?
As it turns out, even Mission mastermind Christopher McQuarrie. “She has her own objective, and she more or less becomes ensnared in this movie. What you have here is a character who absolutely does not belong in a Mission: Impossible movie, and she’s doing everything she can to get out of it.”
Atwell’s character was eventually given a name, Grace, who the actor describes as "inconsistent" and "an agent of chaos". The role involved months of exhausting training in precision driving for a chaotic centrepiece car chase around Rome (pictured above): a job made even more difficult by "this fucking Fiat we nicknamed Tricksy because she had a mind of her own." After 27 years, the Mission: Impossible movies are coming to a gigantic, explosive, two-part conclusion featuring bigger stunts and, presumably, more rubber masks than you have ever seen before.
Den of Geek magazine talked to Hayley Atwell about introducing a mysterious new character to the saga in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, and how to pull off those terrifying stunts without self-destructing in five seconds.
Den of Geek: From what I’ve read so far, everyone’s been a bit cagey about Grace, the character you’re playing. Why is that?
When I came into this franchise, the screen test involved lots of physical tests to see how I would naturally respond to the fight choreography. I was also given about eight pages of dialogue to see how I read with Tom [Cruise], and after half an hour of that,...

Long before Disney+ existed with its slate of Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows, and even before Netflix released theirs, there were only two: “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Agent Carter.” One had a seven-season run on ABC where it grew a devoted following, while the other got only two seasons on the same network. But, according to the man who ran ABC at the time, the latter would definitely go further if it were made today.
“Agent Carter” followed Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), who we first met in “Captain America: The First Avenger,” in the time immediately following Cap’s presumed death. During this time, she works at the Strategic Scientific Reserve (Ssr), but also secretly works alongside Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) and his butler Edwin Jarvis, developing the friendship that would lead them to create S.H.I.E.L.D.
In its first season, the show put up mediocre numbers for ABC, but...

Is Steve Rogers officially dead? Is he doing stuff on the moon? As it stands in the MCU, it’s not totally clear, so it’s hard to know if we’ll ever see Chris Evans in the role again. But for what it’s worth, Evans himself says there’s probably more stories to tell with Steve — just not right now.
As fans will recall, when last we saw Captain America, he had gone back in time to return the Infinity Stones, and then opted to stay behind and live a full life with his love, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). In the final minutes of “Avengers: Endgame,” a much, much older Steve hands off the shield to his buddy Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and by the end of “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” on Disney+, Sam is finally ready to take up the Captain America mantle himself.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had a lot going on, but one character that appears in the mid-credits scene is more important than it might seem. The movie boasted plenty of important characters from ancillary properties like X-Men’s Charles Xavier or Black Bolt from the much-maligned Inhumans, to alternate versions of Peggy Carter and Captain Marvel, to the first inclusion of Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. Even with all of these figures, perhaps the most mysterious was the purple-clad sorceress who appeared in a mid-credit scene. If you live in the center of the “Marvel fan” and “musical theater lover” Venn diagram, then today’s news is going to be a real treat. Disney has announced that it’s bringing the once-only-fictional Rogers: The Musical to life as a “short one-act musical.” Performances will begin this summer at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim.
The announcement came via a short video posted to the Disney Parks Twitter account, which features a woman in Peggy Carter’s signature outfit walking into Disney’s Hyperion Theater with a playbill for the show in hand.
Originally introduced as a meta gag of sorts in Disney’s Hawkeye miniseries — which follows Jeremy Renner’s titular character after the events of Avengers: Endgame — the musical is supposed to be an in-universe Broadway hit, featuring the superhero team singing, dancing, and flying around the stage as they protect New York City from alien invasion.

It’s been called “a super powered sensation.” Critics have said that it’s “an all-American musical for an all-American hero.” And Dancer magazine exclaimed, “Every Avenger brought to life!” It’s the popular, audience and critically-acclaimed stage show Rogers: The Musical. And it’s not real…until now. The Disney+ series, Hawkeye, about the lesser profiled member from The Avengers movies, featured a tongue-in-cheek joke about a broadway musical in the superhero universe that depicts the events in New York in 2012 when the Avengers first assembled.
Deadline now has the details on Rogers: The Musical making its way on stage for real as it is set to be performed this summer at the Hyperion Stage inside California Adventure Park at Disneyland resort. Rogers: The Musical was first shown in the premiere episode of Hawkeye as joke where Clint Barton, played by Jeremy Renner, would take his kids to see the show in New York.

For all the allegations of his behavior that have surfaced in recent years, it's hard to deny the impact that Joss Whedon had on Hollywood in his prime. Whedon was pretty much a master of ensemble pieces before he was tapped to write and direct "The Avengers" in 2010 — but "The Avengers" was much bigger in scale compared to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Firefly" or "Serenity," the TV shows that put him on the map in the '00s.
Shortly before "The Avengers" released in 2012, Whedon spoke to Den of Geek about the challenges of writing the film. One of the bigger hurdles came in uniting so many different characters, each who'd headlined their own respective projects and existed in wildly different worlds. After more than a decade on our screens, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a massive universe at this point, and it can be hard to keep track of everything that’s gone down — so allow us to do that for you.
Obviously, if you’re watching Marvel’s latest releases, you’re probably already pretty well-versed in this particular franchise. But maybe you’re coming into one of these new films simply because an actor you love is in it, or someone you love wants to watch a Marvel project with you, and you don’t have much of a knowledge base going into it.
Whether you don’t have time to sit down and marathon six or seven shows and almost 30 movies — or really just don’t have a desire to — or you’re simply here because you’re trying to remember when that one thing happened, we’ve got you.
