Barely two months since they turned down the chance to run the Endemol Shine Group in Australia, Shine Australia CEOs Mark and Carl Fennessy have changed their minds.
The brothers have accepted the posts of joint CEOs of the merged companies after further discussion and considering their futures.
Martha Brass, CEO, International Operations, Endemol Shine Group, had been leading the search for a new CEO in Australia since the Fennessys unexpectedly turned down the offer in early April.
A firm of head-hunters had been engaged and a wide range of executives in the broadcasting and production industries had been interviewed in the past few weeks.
No timeline has yet been given for the integration of Shine and Endemol, which will result in the departure of Endemol CEO Janeen Faithfull.

Glendyn Ivin is a huge fan of Peter Weir.s Gallipoli but he has resisted the temptation to revisit Weir.s seminal 1981 movie since he was hired to direct the Nine Network miniseries Gallipoli. .I love that film; it.s one of the reasons I became a filmmaker,. Ivin told If on Monday during a recce for the eight-hour production which starts shooting in and near Melbourne on March 17. .But I have avoided watching it again because we are doing a very different story..
In keeping with this fresh take on the saga of the young Aussies who fought in the legendary WW1 campaign, Ivin said he and his DoP Germain McMicking will shoot the film in a style which is far from a traditional drama.
The screenplay is by Christopher Lee (Howzat! Kerry Packer.s War, Paper Giants, Rush, Police Rescue), adapted from the best-selling book by Les Carlyon.

After 16 years at Seven, Janeen Faithfull joined production company Southern Star in February. The CEO tells Brooke Hemphill how to make shows audiences want to watch.
Between Big Brother, Puberty Blues and Howzat! Southern Star is doing well in the current TV landscape. You must be pleased.
We are thrilled. There are a lot of people working very hard to get the shows out. Big Brother’s half way through the run now and we’re really happy with how it’s performed. Channel Nine’s very happy and we’re hopeful that we’ll see the series out on the same numbers and hopefully we’ll do it all again next year.
Tell us about Big Brother. Did Southern Star set out to change it up for its return to Australian television?
The show was off the air for four years and we’re the producer not the broadcaster...
