Before Luke Mitchell made a home on Chicago Med this season, the ubiquitous Australian actor appeared on many, many TV shows, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Blindspot, The Code, Legacies and Big Sky.
But it’s Mitchell’s breakout Stateside role on The CW’s The Tomorrow People, where he played the superpowered group’s leader John Young, that stands out for the actor. When asked which of his past characters he would like to revisit, Mitchell is quick to single out the short-lived series, which aired during the 2013-14 TV season.

Chicago Med hiatus: When does the show return and what should fans expect from the next new episode?
Chicago Med is still on an extended spring hiatus as the show takes a break before racing toward the season finale.
Some fans may already be upset that the One Chicago shows have taken such a long break during April, but new episodes are on the horizon.
As a reminder, two Hollywood strikes paused the production of the NBC dramas. It delayed the new seasons from premiering for many months.
When the shows finally returned in January, Chicago Med fans were reminded that Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) had left the show.
Dr. Halstead’s final episode was the Season 8 finale, where he quit working at the hospital and traveled to Seattle. When he got off the plane, he was greeted by Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and her daughter.
Several new doctors have joined the fold on the Chicago Med cast this season, adding some freshness to the show.

When it came time to cast Chicago Med’s new doctor, there was no doubt that Blindspot and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. vet Luke Mitchell was the man for the job.
“He gave a great audition, and he’s great looking, and he’s charming, and he’s a wonderful actor. Need we say more?” co-showrunner Andrew Schneider tells TVLine.

When Chicago Med returns for Season 9, some things have changed at the hospital — and in its staff’s personal lives. One relationship is still going strong, while another isn’t doing well. Charles (Oliver Platt) has history with the new Ed attending, Ripley (Luke Mitchell), while it’s the past that might be keeping Archer (Steven Weber) from accepting the organ he needs. And the hospital is under new management, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. Executive producers Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider preview the drama to come. You’re bringing in this new Ed attending, Ripley, and he has a history with Charles. What can you preview about that history and their dynamic now? Diane Frolov: It goes back to when Ripley was an adolescent. He is carrying some resentment about what happened between him and Charles. Andy Schneider: The whole thing has forced Charles to look...

It’s been a long wait for NBC’s Chicago Med to return with its 9th Season but with the premiere less than a week away (January 17), Deadline has some juicy nuggets to tease about the show’s return.
In the Season 8 finale, the medical drama said goodbye to Day 1-er Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) who handed in his resignation after finding himself more and more unsettled with the new changes implemented at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center following Jack Dayton’s purchase of the hospital. His main concern was Dayton’s insistence on using the O.R. 2.0. even after a machine error caused the death of a patient and could’ve also claimed Dayton’s life.
Dayton’s live surgery for investors cost him nearly all his money after showing the high-tech machine wasn’t ready for showtime. So to stay afloat financially, Dayton sells the hospital.

As we head into the delayed 2023-24 TV season, many of our favorite shows are saying goodbye to beloved cast members.
To be honest, though, the big casting shake-ups are happening across Dick Wolf's rich tapestry of shows, and the latest fills us with dread.
FBI: International is the unlucky show getting the latest shake-up.
Heida Reed, who plays Special Agent Jamie Kellet, is being written out of the show early into its third season.
It doesn't sound like Kellet decided to walk away from the show, with sources telling TVLine that it was for creative reasons.
The casting news could be a massive spoiler for FBI: International Season 3, given that the freshman season concluded with a bomb exploding at the team's offices.
Seal Team is Ending a Season Too Late
With fans waiting months for clarity on who might have survived, we may have an answer for who did not survive.

More cast changes are coming to Chicago Fire. Alberto Rosende, who plays Blake Gallo, will leave the NBC drama early in season 12.
‘Chicago Fire’ cast member Alberto Rosende says decision to leave ‘wasn’t easy’
Rosende joined Chicago Fire in season 8 as a new recruit at Firehouse 51. Gallo’s family was killed in a fire when he was a child, and he was drawn to a career with Cfd as a result. After becoming part of the team, he had a romantic relationship with Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith).
Now, after four seasons on Chicago Fire, Rosende is moving on. His last appearance will be in the season 12 premiere, which airs Wednesday, Jan. 17.
The decision to leave the Dick Wolf drama was difficult, Rosende shared in a now-deleted Instagram Story (via Deadline).

The Chicago Med family is growing. Luke Mitchell is joining the cast of the NBC medical drama for its upcoming 9th season.

Mitchell will play a new staff member at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center in the new season of Chicago Med, TVLine reports. Dr. Mitch Ripley is an ER physician with a past connection to Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), the hospital’s head of psychiatry. He comes from a troubled background, which led him to cross paths with Dr. Charles when he was growing up.
The addition of Mitchell to the Chicago Med cast comes after several high-profile exits in season 8, including the departures of Brian Tee, who played Dr. Ethan Choi, and Nick Gehlfuss, who played Dr. Will Halstead. Both had been with the show since its first season.

Well, this is more than disappointing.
Just days after it was revealed that Kara Kilmer would be leaving Chicago Fire, the series has confirmed its intention to say goodbye to another series regular.
Alberto Rosende, who has played fan-favorite Blake Gallo since Chicago Fire Season 8, will be written out on the Chicago Fire Season 12 premiere.
The actor was initially employed in a recurring capacity but struck such a chord with viewers that he was upgraded to a full-fledged series regular shortly after.
Losing another familiar face is never a good sign, but the One Chicago universe has many movers and shakers right now.
The only solace we can take from this news is that Rosende will appear in one final episode to bring Blake's storyline to a close.
The other good news is that we're convinced Blake will not be killed off because this show likes to deliver shocking twists.

Exclusive: After four seasons starring as Blake Gallo, Alberto Rosende is set to exit from Chicago Fire following a final appearance in the Season 12 premiere, Deadline has learned. Sources say his departure from the Wolf Entertainment/Universal Television drama was fully amicable.
Rosende debuted on the hit NBC series in the second episode of Season 8 titled, “A Real Shot In The Arm,” as a reckless new candidate for Firehouse 51 who impressed, yet frustrated his colleagues. He was initially cast in a recurring capacity but was upped to regular in 2019, as Deadline reported exclusively.

Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
After saying goodbye to countless cast members over the last few years, Luke Mitchell is joining the cast of Chicago Med.
We previously reported that Dr. Charles would be getting a blast from the past, and thanks to Deadline's exclusive, we can reveal it will be in the form of Mitchell's Dr. Mitch Ripley.
Don't get too attached to that name because the outlet states that there's a possibility the name could change.
Okay then.
As of now, Mitchell is on board in a recurring capacity, but there is the option to expand him to series regularly.
That, we guess, will be based on the reaction to the arc being cooked up involving the actor.

A new doctor is coming to Chicago Med for the upcoming ninth season of the NBC medical drama. Luke Mitchell (pictured above on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will be recurring — and could become a series regular — as Dr. Mitch Ripley, described as “an Emergency Department doctor with a troubled past who shares a history with Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt),” according to Deadline. The outlet notes that might not be the character’s name. He will first appear in the Season 9 premiere on Wednesday, January 17 at 8/7c. We’ll have to wait to see what that history means for his and Charles’ interactions in the present day, as well as how he and the rest of the Ed staff work together.
