Back in the days of Blockbuster and local video rental stores, there was always that one rack — the one packed with horror flicks with gory-looking covers that scared Eighties and Nineties kids witless. Now, that same vibe has come to Shudder in the form of Josh Forbes’ Destroy All Neighbors, starring none other than Eighties hero Alex Winter.
Winter, star of 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1987’s The Lost Boys, has mostly been in his writer-director era for the past few decades — save for a recent appearance as Bill S.

Revolving around two things many of us know all too well, neighbours from hell and writer’s block, Destroy All Neighbors is an over-the-top exercise in splatstick from director Josh Forbes and writers Mike Benner, Jared Logan and Charles A. Pieper.
William Brown makes his living as a sound engineer at Industrial Sound & Magic, helping to bring other people’s music to life. Currently, it’s the obnoxious Caleb Bang Jansen, “Emerson, Lake and Palmer? It sounds like Emerson getting buttfucked by Lake and Palmer.”
But when it comes to his own Prog Rock album, he’s stuck in a rut. While his girlfriend Emily believes in him, everyone else around him seems to exist only to stifle his efforts.

New splatter-comedy Destroy All Neighbors has more on its mind than bad neighbors run amok. Director Josh Forbes, working from the screenplay by Charles Pieper and Jared Logan, crafts a Frank Henenlotter-inspired comedy full of guts and rock ambition. Nestled at the center is a sugary-sweet story of an artist learning to get out of his own way. While that means it has all the right ingredients in place for an infectiously scrappy horror comedy, it might be too narratively streamlined for its own good.
William Brown (Jonah Ray Rodrigues) dreams of prog-rock greatness. He works as a sound engineer at a low-rent music studio by trade and spends the rest of his waking hours trying to crack his magnum opus that’ll earn him a place in rock Valhalla. Well, almost. William frequently finds himself distracted by everything around him, especially his neighbors. Even more so with the...

A grumpy sound engineer hoping to revive his career finds he has an anti-talent as a ‘serial manslaughterer’ – with Alex “Bill & Ted” Winter as a severed head
From Barton Fink to Adaptation, the creatively blocked Los Angeles lifer is part of the city’s mythology – and this amusing splatterhouse horror-comedy is a nice addition to that canon. Orbiting around dilly-dallying and passive-aggressive prog-rocker William Brown (Jonah Ray Rodrigues), this film makes homicidal psychosis look like a blast. And it also gives Alex Winter his best acting role since Bill & Ted yucking it up as a severed head.
William is hamster-wheeling his way to nowhere in his sound-engineer day job, while eternally finishing off a prog meisterwerk in his home studio. His lovely girlfriend Emily (Kiran Deol) puts up with his quirks, which include a pathological inability to confront their new neighbour Vlad (Winter) about the non-stop partying next door...

2024 is opening hard and fast with one of the first genre releases of the year. From director Josh Forbes, Destroy All Neighbors is a story about an artist chasing perfection, avoiding distraction, and accepting that sometimes you need a little help to cross the finish line. It’s also kind of a bonkers movie with a high energy level and a ton of practical effects.
William (Jonah Ray Rodroguez) is stuck. He works as a recording engineer, finishing albums for other, more successful musicians, while slaving away at his passion project - a prog rock album that he has been “so close” to finishing for a number of years. He just can’t seem to get past the final hurdle and bring the whole thing home. He is constantly working on it, but as all artists can relate, sometimes the ending just gets further away. Mayan Lopez, star of “Lopez vs. Lopez” and daughter to comedian George Lopez, has opened up about following in her father’s showbiz footsteps. Speaking at NBC’s virtual summer press tour panel at the Television Critics Association, she said that growing up behind the scenes of “The George Lopez Show” is where she first “fell in love” with acting and creating – but she’s still had to pay her dues and put in the work.
“People always think that I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, like no…. I came up as my dad’s career was coming up,” she said. “I was about 5 years old, like 7 or 8, and I got to see onscreen and behind the scenes the hard work that comes with show business. I really fell in love with the business side as well as the on-camera side.”

NBC’s slate of fall 2022 premiere dates was announced today, showcasing new and returning favorites. Among the lineup are two new series to the network, “Quantum Leap” and “Lopez vs. Lopez.”
“Quantum Leap,” which will launch the network’s scripted programming on September 19, stars Raymond Lee in a reimagination of the classic science fiction series from the early 1990s. The new series, set 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished, follows a new team led by physicist Ben Song. Together, the team is tasked to restart the Quantum Leap project, but things quickly go awry when Song makes an unauthorized leap into the past. Now, as Song leaps from life to life and puts right what once went wrong, his team must act fast or risk losing him forever.
The cast for the new series includes Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park and Nanrisa Lee.

Last week, NBC pulled its freshman comedy Sunnyside from its Thursday night schedule and will air the fourth episode on Thursday, which will be the last on the linear network. The comedy co-created by Kal Penn and Matt Murray and executive produced by Mike Schur will air its remaining seven episodes on NBC’s digital platforms, but it isn’t 100 percent clear if the show has been canceled.
During a screening event of the fourth episode, Murray told Deadline that they pulled the comedy off the network before they were supposed to shoot episode 10 — which was going to be the final episode. “They did not tell us to stop production,” he said. “We shot episode 10 after they made the announcement and we are shooting the 11th episode now. It’s very confusing to me, but as someone who loves the cast and the writers, we’re doing everything we can to give ourselves a shot.

NBC pulled “Sunnyside” from its schedule earlier this week, but the Kal Penn comedy will continue streaming Season 1 on Hulu. That wasn’t always a guarantee.
On Tuesday, NBC announced that it was pulling freshman sitcom “Sunnyside” from its schedule after just four episodes, banishing the remainder of the season to its digital platforms and effectively canceling the show.
NBC simultaneously announced that it had commissioned an additional episode, bringing the total number of installments for the season from 10 to 11. According to an individual close to the show’s producers, the episode won’t actually wrap up the run, which has an ending — it will instead be shoehorned into the existing story arc, around Episode 8 or 9.
The “Sunnyside” writing staff is scrambling to get that script ready for production, the individual tells us.

NBC has ordered an additional episode of Sunnyside, bringing its order from 10 to 11. The remaining seven episodes will air weekly on the NBC app, other digital platforms and NBC.com. The series currently is in production on Episode 9 and will complete all 11 episodes.

NBC is pulling “Sunnyside” from its linear schedule, moving the Kal Penn-led comedy to its digital platforms exclusively.
The broadcast network has commissioned an additional episode of episode of the comedy, extending its order from 10 to 11 episodes, but the show’s remaining seven episodes will be shunned to the NBC app and NBC.com and other digital platforms.
In its place, NBC will premiere the 11th and final season of “Will & Grace” starting next Thursday, Oct. 24.

Starring Kal Penn as a former New York City Councilman who finds his calling in assisting immigrants in need of his help, “Sunnyside” debuted last month as the lowest-rated new show among the four major broadcast networks.
Touting the premiere episode’s growth in delayed viewing and its performance on social media, the network is hoping the show will continue to perform as a digital exclusive.

NBC has decided to kick its freshman comedy “Sunnyside” to its digital platforms and replace it in the schedule with the 11th and final season of “Will & Grace.”
The veteran comedy had been due to debut season 11 in early 2020, however, the Peacock has bumped its premiere up to Thursday, Oct. 24 at 9:30 p.m., taking the slot from the Kal Penn comedy.
NBC has also ordered an additional episode of “Sunnyside” to increase the original order of 10 episodes to 11, however, it now seems highly unlikely that “Sunnyside” will see another series beyond its first on any platform. The remaining seven episodes of “Sunnyside” will air weekly on the NBC App, NBC.com and other digital platforms. The show is currently in production on episode nine and will finish production of all 11 episodes.
