Trans star and producer Jesse James Keitel has joined an upcoming docuseries highlighting trans entrepreneurs.
Titled “T-Town,” the series explores the historically underrepresented lives of dynamic trans entrepreneurs who are launching their own businesses, building up communities, and empowering a new generation to live their truth.
Currently seeking distribution, the project was developed by Colby Gaines, Craig Bland and Tom Greenhut, who will also serve as executive producers via Back Roads Entertainment. They will partner with Keitel’s Peroxide Labs label.
The first season will focus on a thriving queer-trans community in Memphis, Tenn. Featuring poignant voices and big personalities, the unscripted project will look at “stories no one’s ever heard like, building tiny homes for the trans community on the buckle of the Bible Belt to creating groundbreaking trans-inclusive clothing brands to launching Tennessee’s first trans beauty pageant,” an announcement said.

“50 Central” producer Back Roads Entertainment has linked with The Mediapro Studio on a co-production deal targeting formats for the U.S. market.

Exclusive: 50 Central producer Back Roads Entertainment has hired former MGM exec Bret Calvert to oversee development and moved its HQ to Austin, Texas.
The company, which recently struck a scripted and non-scripted development deal with Shaquille O’Neal, has appointed Calvert as Vice President of Development.
Reporting to founder Colby Gaines, Calvert will be charged with overseeing development and creating original formats for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. He was previously Vice President of Television at MGM under Mark Burnett and Barry Poznick where he worked on programming including Fox’s Beat Shazam, CBS’ The World’s Best and forthcoming ABC series Generation Gap. He has also worked on shows including The Biggest Loser, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, Winsanity, Steve Harvey’s Funderdome, Minute to Win It and American Bible Challenge.

Exclusive: A new unscripted show about a woman named Kate and her family is coming to Tlc. The network of Jon and Kate Plus 8 has picked up What the Sell?!, a reality series about a large antique store just outside Chicago, Illinois run by a three-generation appraising team: Kate, the daughter, Judy, her mother, and Gloria, her grandmother. Tlc has picked up 14 episodes of the show, which will premiere on March 29. "Viewers will get an inside look at dealing in antiques through the unique perspective of this multi-generational family," Tlc's Svp production and development Howard Lee said. What the Sell?! started off as a pilot, which Tlc aired in November to solid ratings - it drew 1.9 million viewers. The series is executive produced by Brent Montgomery and Colby Gaines, with Courtney Montgomery co-executive producing.
