We have good news and bad news for fans of PBS’s Grantchester. The good news is that the British mystery drama has been renewed for a ninth season. The bad news is that the upcoming season will be the last for Tom Brittney, who has played crime-solving vicar Will Davenport since season 4.
‘Grantchester’ renewed for season 9
It’s only been a few weeks since Grantchester Season 8 premiered on PBS, but the show’s cast is already looking ahead to season 9. Filming recently began on the upcoming episodes, which will be Tom Brittney’s last. The actor – who took over as vicar after James Norton left the show in 2019 – has decided to move on.
“I’ve had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years,” Brittney told PBS. “I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for.

White House Farm is a dramatisation of the Jeremy Bamber story, a horrible case that saw the killing of five members of the same family including two children. The show came to ITV in 2020 in week by week episodes and has now arrived on Netflix in a full boxset. It’s a compelling look at what happened in 1985 at a remote farmhouse and the man who was convicted of the murders, as well as the dogged cop who wouldn’t settle for the obvious answer despite the negative impact it had on his career.
While elements of the story are fictionalised it’s a series which tries to capture the essence of the main players as well as the backdrop in 80s Britain which might have hampered justice being done. "You must stay where you are for as long as you can." Good Deed Entertainment has released a brand new official Us trailer for the Wwi drama titled Journey's End, from director Saul Dibb, which first premiered at the Toronto and London Film Festivals last year. The film is based on a seminal British play about Wwi, set mostly in a dugout in Aisne, France in 1918. The story is about a group of ragged British officers, led by the mentally disintegrating young officer Stanhope, who are awaiting their fate in this wretched place. The three officers are played by Paul Bettany, Stephen Graham, and Tom Sturridge, and the cast includes Sam Claflin as a Captain, plus Asa Butterfield as a young new officer; as well as Toby Jones, Robert Glenister, Oliver Dimsdale, and Miles Jupp. This looks like a thoroughly harrowing Wwi drama with some intense, gritty war scenes. New pictures from Downton Abbey's Christmas special have been unveiled by ITV.
Featuring fresh shots of Hollywood star Paul Giamatti's guest role and further clues about the plot for the festive edition of the period drama, the snaps are expected to excite fans of the show.
At the heart of this year's Christmas episode will be Lady Rose's 'coming out', where she is presented at Buckingham Palace.
Not wanting to miss out on the occasion Martha Levinson (Shirley MacLaine) returns, bringing her New York playboy son Harold (Giamatti) with her. Inevitably, the duo make quite the impact on London's high society.
Elsewhere, Isobel finds herself being chased by an admirer, Daisy has "an unexpected invitation" and Carson treats his staff to a "special day out".
The episode, which was filmed at Lancaster House and other spectacular locations, will also feature a storyline surrounding a royal scandal that the Crawleys are implicated in.

The first pictures from the Downton Abbey Christmas special have been released.
Set six months after the recently completed series four, the special episode will focus on Rose's (Lily James) 'coming out' at Buckingham Palace, meaning that the family and their servants are staying at their residence in London.
Lady Rose is seen in one image wearing a white dress and headpiece as she curtseys for King George V and Queen Mary.
The show's creator Julian Fellowes worked alongside historical adviser Alastair Bruce to create the royal scenes.
Shirley MacLaine has also reprised her role as Cora's mother Martha Levinson.

ITV, the U.K. station that produces popular drama "Downton Abbey," has released some details about the upcoming two-hour Season 4 Christmas special. Don't keep reading if you don't want to be spoiled.
It may be Christmas Day when the episode airs, but it won't be Christmas during the episode. It's actually the summer season and the Crawley family will head to London for Rose's coming out.
Viewers will get to see the Crawleys' impressive London residence, Grantham House, for the first time and will also be treated to "Buckingham Palace" (though the show did not film at the real palace).
There will be a series of galas and parties as Lady Rose is presented to society, while a scandal will threaten to engulf the British monarchy and Robert will be forced to act to protect both the royal family and his own.

Opera is a form of entertainment largely performed by and for adults. Most of the better-known works deal with grown-up themes, and it takes performers years to train their voices to sing at the highest levels. With that in mind, it's hard to explain why every character in 1st Night behaves like an adolescent in a sitcom. When über-rich industrialist Sir Adam (Richard E. Grant) decides to shed his robber baron image by hosting (and co-starring in) a production of Così fan tutte at his palatial estate, the stage is set for romantic shenanigans. Will Adam finally realize his love for conductor Celia (Sarah Brightman)? What dark secret is Phillip the director (Oliver Dimsdale) hiding from undersexed wife Tamsin (Emma Williams)? Can young Tom's (Julian Ovenden) bu...
