Dylann Roof has been sentenced to die for the June 2015 mass murders of nine black men and women in a racially-motivated attack on a historically black church in Charleston, South Carolina.
A jury deliberated for about four hours before finding that the 22-year-old, a professed white supremacist, should be put to death. The verdict was unanimous.
Before reaching their verdict, the jury asked the judge a series of questions that seemed to indicate that they were leaning toward life imprisonment. But as the verdict was read, the jurors agreed unanimously that several aggravating factors had been achieved, including a lack of remorse.

Dylann Roof offered no apology for the June 2015 murders of nine black people at a historically black South Carolina church in a jailhouse manifesto read during his sentencing trial on Wednesday.
“I would like to make it crystal clear I do not regret what I did,” Roof wrote in the jailhouse journal seized by authorities in 2015, according to the New York Times. “I am not sorry. I have not shed a tear for the innocent people I killed.”
In December, a jury of three black people and nine white people found Roof guilty of hate crimes, religious obstruction and firearms violations in the June 2015 attack.

30 Rock, True Blood, Russell Simmons and Ricky Martin were just a few of the honorees at the 22nd annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York on Saturday. (Note: this is the first of GLAAD's three annual events. The second will be held in Los Angeles in April, and the third in San Francisco in May.)
This weekend's NYC shindig was presented by Rokk Vodka, which also sponsored a private reception and an after party. Plus, no doubt the next morning's hangover.
The Excellence in Media Award was presented to hip hop artist Russell Simmons for his activism in repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and for his strong support of marriage equality.
Ricky Martin received the Vito Russo Award and gave this acceptance speech:
True Blood was honored for outstanding drama series. Actor Denis O'Hare accepted on behalf of the show. Meanwhile, Tina Fey accepted 30 Rock's...

Pop-punk wunderkind Wavves has released the video for the title track of his latest album, King of the Beach, and it's everything you'd expect from a song with that title. The clip for the stoner anthem features Nathan Williams and his pals playing video games, smoking weed, and of course chilling at the beach. They basically get as high as James Franco on Oscar night. Things take a turn for the weird, though, when they decide to make counterfeit money and buy lots of bling. Check out those killer crowns! Also, be on the look out for a cameo from indie rock's most famous cat, Snacks, who belongs to Williams' girlfriend, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast. Seriously, this cat must have a killer agent as he's popping up everywhere lately — even [...]...

Wavves is growing up. Once known for juvenile antics and indecipherable sound, the band (or man — Wavves is primarily Nathan Williams) mostly cleaned up with last year's catchy, almost sunny King of the Beach. And judging by "Horse Shoes," Wavves' latest effort, things are still on track. Makes you want to go to the beach in... Australia, or wherever it's summer right [...]...
