Five Months Before Dr. John’s death in June 2019, the singer’s son Max Rebennack sent an email to producer and musician Shane Theriot.
Rebennack began corresponding with Theriot about the album Dr. John had made over the previous year. The collection, recorded over a series of sessions in and around New Orleans, was a profound, beautiful document of a singer, weakened by age, reflecting on his life over a collection of mostly old country standards from his youth. Over email, Theriot and Rebennack discussed the special guests, tracklisting, and eventual mastering of the album.

Like most artists, Rosanne Cash has been stuck in her home for the bulk of the past year. But unlike some singer-songwriters who feel creatively paralyzed by the moment, Cash has been able to process what’s happened throughout 2020 — a deadly pandemic, an uprising for black lives, a looming election — into art.
“My tour was cancelled, and I was off the road, sequestered in my own home, with time, a stack of writing journals, and a recording studio in the basement,” Cash says. “The only thing to do was write songs.

On “Not Many Miles to Go,” a new song from Rosanne Cash’s upcoming She Remembers Everything LP, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter delivers a bittersweet reflection on love, commitment, and the passage of time.
Coming on the heels of the title track and “Everyone But Me,” which were jointly released in September, “Not Many Miles to Go” is the third and most up-tempo of the bunch from Cash’s first album in five years. But it’s also tinged with sadness, as she ponders the inevitably fleeting nature of even the deepest bonds,...

The director Woody Allen has rebutted claims of abuse alleged by adopted daughter Dylan Farrow, and urged people to remember 'no credible evidence of molestation' was found when the case was originally investigated
The director Woody Allen has issued a statement in response to the open letter by Allen's adopted daughter, Dylan. The letter, posted, on a New York Times blog, reiterates accusations of sexual abuse that were dismissed from court in 1993.
On Sunday, Leslee Dart, a publicist for Allen, 78, said:
Mr Allen has read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful. He will be responding very soon. In the meantime, it is essential that your coverage make the following facts clear.
At the time, a thorough investigation was conducted by court appointed independent experts. The experts concluded there was no credible evidence of molestation; that Dylan Farrow had an inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality; and that...

A Conversation With Marc Cohn Mike Ragogna: Listening Booth: 1970 is a concept album that compiles your favorite--and many would feel greatest--songs from that year. Marc Cohn: That's basically it. It's a record of my favorite songs from 1970, and exactly 40 years ago, all these songs came out. Mr: And every one of these songs is seminal. Mc: My producer John Leventhal and I sat in the studio and went through all these amazing tunes. It became clear to me that these were great songs, but it was really the beginning of when I decided I wanted to be a musician. Because for me, not for everyone, but definitely for me, 1970 was the beginning of the Golden Age of the album.
