In Episodes Seven and Eight of The Last Dance, there are tears. Michael Jordan cries over the shocking loss of his father in 1993. His friend Ahmad Rashad wells up at the memory of tying a trembling Jordan’s tie for him on the day of the funeral. Members of the ’94 Bulls (a team that was Jordan-free as His Airness dabbled in professional baseball) recall a tearful postgame speech by Bill Cartwright. Heck, Jordan’s personal trainer cries while speaking about his number-one client’s intense dedication to his job.

Cleveland Indians relief pitcher Chris Perez is being investigated after a package of drugs was delivered to his house. After a package was delivered to his home Tuesday, authorities searched the home Perez rents with his wife, Cleveland.com reports.
According to Rocky River Police Chief Kelly Stillman, a "controlled substance" was found during the search, but he would not elaborate on what was confiscated. Perez and his wife were not arrested as a result of the search.
Perez is currently on the disabled list due to a strained shoulder, and isn't on the road with the team. However team manager Terry Francona said in a pre-game briefing that he had talked to the pitcher. "I called him just to make sure he was Ok. Other than that we have to allow the process to unfold. Out of respect to everybody involved, that's all I can say," he says.

The new manager of the Cleveland Indians baseball team might need a map. While taking the two-block walk from his apartment to the ballpark Monday, Terry Francona got lost, the Associated Press reports. Luckily, he didn't miss the first home game of the season. Instead, an Indians staff member picked him up in a golf cart.
"I got lost three times," Francona says, "Even when I got to the garage two people who work here said, 'Hey, do you know where you're going?' I was like, 'Nope.'" He made some new friends along the way, though. "Cleveland is officially the nicest people I've ever met," he says, "Everybody I did walk by said, 'Hello.' That's a little different than I'm used to." Before signing with the Indians, he spent eight seasons as manager of the Boston Red Sox

It started just over a year ago. On September 1st 2011, the Boston Red Sox finished off their three-game series with their bitter rivals and Al East foes the New York Yankees knowing that whilst a defeat wasn’t a good thing, they would be leaving Beantown atop of the division regardless of the result. Nobody could have predicted then what fate awaited them less than a month later. After all, the Red Sox seemingly had the foundations in place for another tilt at the World Series, with many in the media tipping them to win it all and Espn analyst Bobby Valentine even going so far as to predict they’d “score 1,000 runs” on the season. Led by the best manager in the game, Terry Francona, and overseen by boy genius Gm Theo Epstein, life seemed pretty good for the Red Sox and their fans. That’s what made the events that followed so extraordinary.

Mitchell Layton/Getty It’s a boy for Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia and wife Kelli!
Following a scary bout with preterm labor last month, Kelli delivered son Dylan Pedroia on Tuesday, August 18th. Baby boy — the first for the couple — weighed in at 7 pounds, and Dustin was able to be present for the birth after hopping a last-minute flight to Boston.
Dustin’s teammate Kevin Youkilis was quick to voice his congratulations. “I think it’s a great thing after all she’s been through and Dustin’s been through, mentally,” the Red Sox first baseman said. “We always joke about dad strength, so hopefully he comes back and keeps hitting home runs. It’ll be a great thing for him.”
While manager Terry Francona is no doubt also hoping that the newest member of Red Sox Nation will translate into increased production from Dustin, he said...

Mitchell Layton/Getty Premature labor can be terrifying, for both parents-to-be. Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia knows that better than anybody, having missed last Monday’s game against the Oakland A’s to be by wife Kelli’s side after she began laboring at seven months pregnant. “It seems like everything’s Ok,” Dustin revealed Wednesday. “I had to be there last night, obviously. It’s been tough.” The 25-year-old 2008 American League Mvp adds,
“But she’ll be all right. She’s good. She’s a lot more together than I am, I can tell you that.”
Dustin feels particularly powerless over what has transpired. Noting that baby-on-the-way is the couple’s first child, he admits that he’s “learning on the fly.” Kelli’s premature labor “kind of happened real fast,” he shared. “I’m just glad she’s Ok and the baby seems to be Ok...
