Kelly Clarkson took on Heart’s timeless classic “Crazy on You” on the latest episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, where she was joined by Ann and Nancy Wilson themselves. Watch the performance below.
Before launching into the cover, Ann Wilson told Clarkson that “Crazy on You” was the “first song I ever recorded as a singer in a studio,” adding that her vocals came from “feeling” because she didn’t have “a bunch of technique yet.”

“I definitely felt how to say certain words, how to jump in early sometimes,” Wilson said. “How to blue note things. Just feel that kind of stuff.”
Then, Clarkson belted out the song with Nancy Wilson vigorously strumming away on acoustic guitar and Ann nodding her approval. “Remember that time I got cheered on by Ann Wilson,” Clarkson said excitedly.

Exclusive: Brian Volk-Weiss’ Nacelle Company on Wednesday announced Billy Corgan’s Adventures in Carnyland, an eight-episode unscripted series that’s set to premiere on The CW app and cwtv.com on May 14th.
Directed by Volk-Weis and Ian Roumain, the series pulls back the curtain on how the legendary frontman of alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins takes on the world. When he isn’t churning out albums and touring the world with his band, Corgan works as a wrestling promoter through his storied National Wrestling Alliance, which he intends to restore to its former glory. As if being a rock star navigating the demanding politics of running both a band (Pumpkinworld) and a group of eccentric wrestlers (Carnyland) isn’t tricky enough, he’s also a father of two — and he’s planning a wedding to his longtime partner, Chloe Mendel. Can he possibly keep all these balls in the air?...

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong invited Courtney Love onstage to join his cover band, the Coverups, Tuesday night in London, where they performed Tom Petty and Cheap Trick songs at The Garage, a 600-capacity venue.
The band performed a number of covers, including Plimsouls’ “A Million Miles Away” and Ramones’ “I Wanna be Sedated,” alongside songs from the Pretenders, Bryan Adams, and the Clash, as Billboard reports. But the big surprise of the night was to come about halfway through their set.

Elvis Presley‘s “Don’t Be Cruel” remains one of his most beloved tracks. A classic rock band put their own spin on the track in the 1980s. Subsequently, the same band had a hit covering “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
Deciding to cover Elvis Presley’s ‘Don’t Be Cruel’ was ‘torture’ for Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick had a huge hit with their 1988 power ballad “The Flame,” a song that wasn’t written by any of the members of the group. During a 2023 interview with Songfacts, Cheap Trick’s Ben E. Carlos said the band wanted their follow-up single to be a cover. “I literally went through piles of tapes with Richie [Nielsen] from publishers, went through hundreds of songs,” he recalled. “We’d sit there in a room with a ghetto blaster, put a tape in, get about 10 seconds in, and usually just pop the tape out and pitch it in the circular file.

As the sun bled out its final rays of warmth on New Orleans on March 30th, we gathered in bloodthirsty droves around the Prytania Uptown Theatre, eager to sink our teeth into the latest cinematic incarnation of Count Dracula with the world premiere of Renfield, featuring the Count himself, Nicolas Cage, in attendance. Standing in line wearing my The Lost Boys T-shirt and carrying a pair of vampire teeth in my pocket (I planned on inserting them over my incisors later that night at the Vampire Ball), I couldn’t believe that another Overlook Film Festival was upon us. I was still reeling from my first experiences with Overlook back in 2022, and about 10 months later, it was already time to return for another round of what I’ve come to know as “summer camp for horror fans.”

The 1980s have become coalesced in America's cultural memory as a decade of excess above all else. Sure, the era produced a number of notably kooky, how-did-that-ever-happen trends in fashion, music, and pop culture, but permeating just about everything is the sense of largesse, which in turn has helped the decade's style remain so iconic. In other words, nothing about the '80s was subtle.
One of the least subtle blockbusters of the decade is 1986's "Top Gun." The film is almost aggressively excessive, with a wall-to-wall pop rock soundtrack filled with big names like Kenny Loggins and Cheap Trick blaring under shots of Tom...

To mark the release of Over the Edge, out now, we’ve been given 2 copies to give away on Blu-ray.
Over The Edge – available now on Blu-ray from Arrow Video – is an incendiary ode to teen rebellion that quickly became a Gen X/punk-rock touchstone, and a key influence on filmmakers such as Richard Linklater and musicians like Kurt Cobain (who often cited it as his favourite film). Armed with a classic ‘70s rock soundtrack, energetic direction by Jonathan Kaplan (White Line Fever) and an intelligent script by Tim Hunter (River’s Edge) and Charlie Haas (Matinee), Over The Edge still packs a righteously powerful punch today, and makes its worldwide Blu-Ray debut with brand new bonus features interviewing the cast and crew.

“American Idol” is halfway through the Top 20 stage of the competition and seven of the singers in Group 1 have made the cut to sing on the live shows starting April 14. Which of these these lucky seven do you think could go all the way and win season 17? Vote in our poll below and then sound off in the comments section.
The first wave of contestants in the Top 14 were revealed at the end of the April 7 episode of this revival on ABC hosted Ryan Seacrest. In episodes taped weeks ago, the remaining score of artists from the Top 40 were divided into two groups. Each one of these two dozen hopefuls had to perform both solo and in duets with celebrities in front of judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. That trio of talent then determined if each contestant deserved a place in the Top 14.

Geoff Emerick helped change the way sound is captured in the recording studio.
The Beatles were well known for flouting official rules in order to push the limits of what could be captured on tape, and Geoff Emerick was one of their greatest enablers. Recording engineer and producer Geoff Emerick, best known for his work with the Beatles, died of a heart attack at the age of 72, according to Variety.
“Today, at around 2’o’clock, I was making my way back from Arizona to Los Angeles to go pick up Geoff so we could transport some gold records and platinum plaques to our show in Tucson,” Emerick's manager William Zabaleta said in a statement.
“While on the phone with Geoff Emerick, he had complications, dropped the phone. At that point I called 911, but by the time they got there it was too late. So Geoff suffered from...

Fats Domino, the amiable rock 'n' roll pioneer whose steady, pounding piano and easy baritone helped change popular music while honoring the traditions of the Crescent City died Tuesday at the age of 89, the Jefferson Parish Coroner says.
The New Orleans musician's daughter said he died peacefully while surrounded by family and friends, CBS affiliate Wwl-tv reports.
In appearance, he was no Elvis Presley. He stood 5-feet-5 and weighed more than 200 pounds, with a wide, boyish smile and a haircut as flat as an album cover. But Domino sold more than 110 million records, with hits including "Blueberry Hill," ''Ain't It a Shame" and other standards of rock 'n' roll.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” and music go hand in hand. James Gunn‘s series has had two incredibly well-chosen soundtracks, or mix-tapes if you will, filled with ’70s and ’80s guilty-pleasure pop cornerstones. Half the fun of watching these movies is wondering what song Gunn will choose next to move his story forward. It’s an indelibly pleasurable experience to be delighted by breathless action and, at the same time, bop your head up and down to, say, Fleetwood Mac‘s “The Chain,” or Cheap Trick‘s “Surrender.”
Following in that tradition, James Gunn and Marvel have given us a real ditty today.

Um... What? Did I hear that right? As I was looking for some interesting things to post, I came across some information that Doritos has made a hybrid Doritos bag and music player that looks like a tape deck on the bag. The best part is, it plays the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 soundtrack. Of all the things I never expected to happen, this is probably the top of the list.
Doritos and Marvel have a cross promotion going, but who would have thought they would make a Doritos bag that plays music!? In some strange way, it makes sense. A strong element in the Guardians of the Galaxy films is music. There is a tape deck that plays Star-Lord's music that has both an important role in the film and has great tunes for the film. Even the title of the film is called Vol. 2, reminiscent of an album release.

Marvel Music/Hollywood Records have released the digital versions of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2 songs-only album and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 original score album by composer Tyler Bates (“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “John Wick Chapter 2,” “Watchmen”).
The film opens in U.S. theaters on May 5, 2017.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is filled with great action, humor and performances, but it is also infused with a new mixed tape and soundtrack, a dynamic that resonated deeply with audiences in the first film as evidenced by the success of the soundtrack album. The Grammy-nominated “Guardians of the Galaxy” soundtrack reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, becoming the first soundtrack album consisting entirely of previously released songs to top the chart. The album was certified Platinum by the R.I.A.A.

With just a few days until the sequel to the amazing Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) comes out, news has already hit that writer and director James Gunn will indeed be returning to make the third installment.
Anyone who saw the first film will know that its great mix of comic book mayhem, mixed with its incredible soundtrack and hilarity, will be excited about the follow up, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which hits cinemas on April 27.
This time we have the full Guardian line up, set a couple of months after the events of the first, with Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and even Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) on board the rebuilt Milano. We already know that we are bound to meet Ego the Human Planet (Kurt Russell) who it turns out will be Star Lord’s dad?...

David Hasselhoff is officially in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 -- well, on the soundtrack, at least.
The former Baywatch star and '80s pop sensation provided the vocals for the only original track of the movie's Awesome Mix Vol. 2, and he opened up to Et about how the song, "Guardian's Inferno," came about.
"You know, I asked [director] James Gunn why he chose me. He said, 'When I was 8 years old, I saw a show called Knight Rider [and] since that day I've always wanted to meet you and to kind of live by the laws of the Knight Rider," Hasselhoff told Et's Cameron Mathison at the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Wednesday.

From “Spirit in the Sky” to Blue Swede’s infectious “Hooked on a Feeling” – a song that has since become synonymous with Marvel’s galactic anti-heroes – the soundtrack to Guardians of the Galaxy was arguably the most crowd-pleasing element of James Gunn’s 2014 sleeper hit. And that’s really saying something, given the film featured a talking tree and a warrior that struggled to wrap his head around the concept of a metaphor.
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 now teetering on the verge of its theatrical release, the level of interest in Star-Lord and the crew has grown astronomically in the past three years, though if there’s one ingredient that James Gunn has carried over from the first movie, it’s fist-pumping power ballads. Now, Rolling Stone has officially cracked open Awesome Mix Vol. 2 to reveal the songs set to feature throughout Guardians 2.

While Shawn Mendes knows each of his fans will interpret his lyrics differently, the teen pop sensation’s intended message with hit single “Mercy” might not be what they’d expect.
“‘Mercy,’ I love conceptually, because I feel like you can either think about it as if it were a girl – which it sounds like it could be about a girl – but I like to picture it as pleading for mercy for my career, type of thing,” Mendes explains in a new Front and Center interview from the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York.

Paris Jackson is an '80s rock girl. Jackson, 18, makes a cameo appearance in the latest music video for the glam rock band, Steel Panther. "She's Tight" - the band's video for the first single off of their newest album, Lower the Bar, is now available on Vevo. The daughter of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, is seen sporting a gray off-the-shoulder tee with a flannel shirt tied around her waist, and a shorter 'do in the video remake of Cheap Trick's 1982 song. "Cheap Trick was one of my favorite bands when I was younger," said Steel Panther lead singer Michael Starr.

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes, and clips and puts it all in perspective. There's been a couple great documentaries about musicians from our North American continent not finding success here in America or Canada but generating a huge following in other places. Searching for Sugar Man and Anvil! The Story of Anvil are my two favorites. It's an interesting phenomenon. Think of the band Cheap Trick, who did okay in the U.S but were huge in Japan. In fact, "But they're huge in Japan.." has become a rock cliche. But what about a Japanese band that's so good, it's not unreasonable to wonder why they aren't huge everywhere else? That's the subject of We Are X. It appears the main visionary behind the band is the drummer Yoshiki, who is willing to push himself to the brink for his music. There...

Carrie Underwood won big at Sunday's 2016 Cmt Music Awards, taking home two awards, rocking three different looks and showing off her powerhouse vocals while performing her new single "Church Bells." The 33-year-old singer, who was nominated for three awards, nabbed trophies for Performance of the Year and Female Video of the Year - both for her song "Smoke Break." While Underwood lost Video of the Year to Tim McGraw's "Humble and Kind," she still holds the record for most Video of the Year wins with six. Underwood also has 16 trophies - more than any other artist in Cmt Awards history.

Adolescence gets a loudmouthed love letter with Everybody Wants Some!!, the latest outing from writer/director Richard Linklater. Dropping the grandiose ambition of Boyhood (2014) and returning to his Dazed and Confused (1993) groove, the Texas filmmaker takes fans back to the days of crop tops, Van Halen, and mustaches to die for. Marketed as a “spiritual sequel” to the stoner classic, and swapping out the last day of school for the weekend before class, Everybody Wants Some!! funnels its story through the keg stand of a college baseball team. As such, former athlete Linklater straps the gloves on and knocks this hilarious outing clear over the center field fence.
From the very start, this movie puts out good vibes. With “My Sharona” thumping through stereo speakers, freshman Jake Bradford (Blake Jenner) cruises into college town circa 1980, flowing with loud personas and even louder hairstyles. Put up in a boarding house with his teammates,...

Director Richard Linklater’s '70s-set “Dazed And Confused” had a kick-ass soundtrack of classic rock and stoner grooves, so it stands to reason that the “spiritual sequel,” the 80s-set “Everybody Wants Some,” would have the same. And yep, that’s the case. Today, Warner Bros. Records announced they will release the soundtrack to “Everybody Wants Some” on April 8th. The movie itself hits theaters beginning April 1st, but has its world premiere tonight at the SXSW Film Festival. It’s obscenely rare for a punk band to have the kind of sustained success that Green Day has enjoyed over the last 25 years. Granted, it could be argued that Green Day was only really punk for a hot minute before morphing into some variation of power pop or alternative rock…but that’s really just semantics, isn’t it?
They’ve produced 11 full-length albums in that time, and had a bonkers amount of success in the singles market. (They have enough hits for at least a double album by now.) They’re in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, have influenced a staggering number of bands in and out of the punk community, and even have their own Rock Band game. (That may not sound like much, but the only other band to be given their own version was The Beatles).
