Cassandra Anne “Angie” Jakusz, a former contestant on season 10 of CBS’ reality show “Survivor,” died Jan. 8. She was 40 years old.
Jakusz was born and raised in Waukesha, Wis. but lived in New Orleans, La. at the time of her entry onto “Survivor: Palau.” Prior to living in New Orleans, Jakusz resided in San Francisco and New York City.
A former “Survivor: Palau” contestant who competed with Jakusz, Coby Archa, told People Magazine that Jakusz’s family made it public that Jakusz had cancer.
“We had heard from her family 3 years ago that she was battling cancer,” Archa said. “We raised some money for her treatments. She wasn’t into the fame, just the experience of Survivor. She came, she played, and she went back to her life in New Orleans. She liked her life that way.”
An obituary for Jakusz reads, “Angie was an incredibly passionate person with an extraordinary lust for life.

Wednesday’s eighth episode of “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” delivered another epic tribal with one of the season’s most unexpected endings. After both Davie Rickenbacker and Dan Rengering played idols to protect their allies Christian Hubicki and Angelina Keeley, respectively, the Davids outplayed the Goliaths to take out John Hennigan with only three votes. It was a stealthy move that would have resulted in his elimination even if Dan hadn’t wasted one of his two idols on Angelina. The Goliaths still have a 6-5 majority over the Davids, but lurking beneath the surface are a handful of players ready and willing to make a move against their own side.
In this week’s power rankings I keep Christian and Nick at the top for the fourth straight week while their former ally Mike White takes a huge tumble straight to the bottom. Below is my complete assessment of...

John Hennigan has a successful career as a pro wrestler and a writer/producer, so why did he decide to audition for “Survivor: David vs. Goliath”? As John tells Gold Derby the day after his shocking #BrochachoBlindside in Season 37, Episode 8 aired, “The idea of doing something where I’m completely unplugged — no phone, no internet — and spending time with people that I probably wouldn’t otherwise cross paths with and working on myself was very appealing.” Listen to our “Survivor” exit interview above.

“I was a huge fan of ‘Survivor’ in the early ‘Survivor’ era,” John readily admits. “I sent audition tapes in for Seasons 2 and 3. They’re horrible. I can’t believe that I thought it would be a good idea to talk in a German accent on those tapes, which I did for some reason.

With 13 options to choose from over the 37 seasons of “Survivor,” 28% of fans who voted in our recent poll have decided that Coby Archa from Season 10 is the biggest threat to be eliminated at merge of all time. In “Survivor: Palau,” Coby’s original tribe Koror won eight of the season’s first nine immunity challenges, resulting in a eight-to-one majority at the time of the merge. Despite those unprecedented numbers, Coby’s own tribe voted him out before Ulong’s Stephenie Lagrossa because of his tendency to spill tribal secrets.
What Coby’s victory in the poll shows is something that is still true of “Survivor” game play: being among the majority alliance/tribe does not grant you 100% protection. In fact, being at the bottom of a powerful alliance can sometimes leave you vulnerable and/or make you a huge threat. Large alliances will get eager to vote out their...

This week Elizabeth Olson became the latest castaway in “Survivor” history to go down as the “merge boot.” Typically at merge the player seen as one of the biggest threats in the game is eliminated first–exactly what kind of threat that player is varies greatly depending on the cast and the alliances of their season. In Elizabeth’s case she was voted out unanimously, on one hand a volatile personality that was targeting strong Goliath members and on the other a viable sacrifice her fellow Davids were willing to make.
So how does Elizabeth stack up when compared to merge boots of the past? Below take our poll to decide who was the biggest merge threat in “Survivor” history. To help you decide we’ve narrowed the field down to our Top 12 and most iconic contenders for the title and offer a brief analysis of why they were threatening below.

Although Survivor is entering its 29th season, Jeff Probst clearly remembers every one of the 442 contestants, and can pull obscure trivia out of the air. His excitement about the reality show is unwavering - impressive, considering that it debuted during the Clinton administration. "Every single season is a different show," he tells People. "We're constantly reinventing ourselves." But sometimes, ideas are recycled. 2013's Survivor: Blood vs. Water was such a compelling season that producers are doing it again, casting pairs of contestants with some sort of existing relationship - married couples, siblings, dating pairs, parent-child. The result, Survivor: San Juan Del Sur,...

While a special Ethan Zohn cam at the Jan. 9 Survivor 10-year anniversary party in L.A. was set up so well-wishers could send greetings to the Africa winner - who was on the East Coast recuperating from a stem-cell transplant for a rare form of Hodgkin's disease - Zohn's friend from the Palau season, Jenn Lyon, was receiving visitors in a small room, fragile from her weakening battle against breast cancer. Among those Lyon wanted to see was Zohn's girlfriend and Amazon winner Jenna Morasca. "When she saw her," says Lyon's sister Kim, "they definitely had their own good cry together.

Last Saturday night, CBS threw a party celebrating the 10th Anniversary and 20th Edition of Survivor. This wasn't just any party either as every Survivor contestant — even those lamely who got knocked out in the first episode — were invited, and more than 200 of them attended.
Survivor has featured quite a few gay contestants over the years including Season One winner Richard Hatch who made a big impression on the show and at the party (where he kept his clothes on). Also attending was Survivor : China winner Todd Herzog along with Charlie Herschel (Survivor : Gabon), Spencer Duhm (Survivor: Toncatins), Brad Virata (Survivor: Cook Islands), Rafe Judkins (Survivor: Guatemala), and Coby Archa (Survivor: Palau).
I got a chance to chat with Hatch who looked remarkably fit after his stint in prison. He was also very outspoken, and watching him do other interviews, I get the impression he doesn't suffer fools gladly.

It is now confirmed that the twentieth edition of "Survivor" will be an All-Star cast. Called "Heroes Vs. Villains", the edition will consist of 20 people from the previous 19 seasons who will have to survive the hard terrain again in a jungle deep inside South Pacific.
One side is chosen based on skills, deception, manipulation and duplicity. These ten are called the Villains. The other side, which is for Heroes, is defined by their integrity, courage and honor. Together they will seek either revenge or redemption.
Cast are not yet announced but they reportedly had gone into production right after the recently-wrapped "Survivor" finished shooting in Samoa. To save cost, it was filmed also in Samoa using some of the same location. Rumor has it, some of cast are Coby Archa (Survivor: Palau), Jt Thomas (Survivor: Tocantins), Tom Westman (Survivor: Palau), Jessica "Sugar" Kiper (Survivor: Gabon), Courtney Yates (Survivor: China) and...
