Another friendly face gone too soon. Windell Middlebrooks, a familiar presence on both TV dramas and sitcoms but who was perhaps best known as the ranting, always entertaining delivery guy in Miller High Life beer commercials ("a man who tells it like it is"), died suddenly Monday morning. TMZ had reported that he was found unconscious at his L.A. home and rushed by ambulance to the hospital. ABC has been searching for new hit dramas to replace their older ones for some time. Lost went off the air in 2010, Brothers & Sisters was cancelled last May, and Desperate Housewives is ending next spring. Last season, Body of Proof was the only new drama that held any promise and ABC renewed it. In retrospect, was that a mistake?

Megan can be difficult to work with but won't give up until she gets answers and expects the best from herself and her co-workers. Others in the cast include Jeri Ryan, Nicholas Bishop, Geoffrey Arend, Windell D. Middlebrooks, John Carroll Lynch, and Sonja Sohn.

Dana Delany leaves the wives of Wisteria Lane to solve crimes as the brilliant Dr. Megan Hunt in the first season of the excellent new series Body of Proof. While the series doesn.t feel like the typical crime genre cop show, Delany and the ensemble cast keep each episode entertaining and give the series a reason for fans to keep watching. Created by Christopher Murphey (who wrote the screenplay for the 2010 remake of The Karate Kid), the series (which has been described as Quincy with better legs) feels very much like an ensemble show with Delany sharing the screen and storylines with Nicholas Bishop, Jeri Ryan, John Carroll Lynch, Sonja Sohn, Geoffrey Arend, and Windell Middlebrooks.

NBC and Fox have both unleashed their Fall 2011-2012 TV schedule, now ABC has released theirs. I’m excited to see Castle, Modern Family, and The Middle back in the mix. Most of the new shows they have line-up don’t really interest me, but there are a few that have caught my eye. PanAm is another 1960’s based TV show that will go against AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s The Playboy Club. There’s a show called Revenge that sounds really interesting, but the new series I’m most excited about is is the fantasy series Once Upon A Time, a show where fairy tales collide with the modern day.

ABC recently debuted the last of their new dramas for this season, Body of Proof. Many of the alphabet network's successful TV shows are slowly losing viewers so they've been trying to establish a new crop of hour series. No Ordinary Family, Detroit 1-8-7, and Off the Map have all been disappointments and are sure to be cancelled in May. What about this new TV show?
Body of Proof revolves around Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany), a brilliant neurosurgeon whose world is turned upside down after a devastating car accident. An interracial couple is found dead in their car. Lovers who died where they met. Shot in the head. No witnesses.
Detective Morris believed it to be a simple murder-suicide. The man shot the woman before putting a bullet in his head. No medical mystery. Until Dr. Megan Hunt removed two bullets from the male victim, making it murder.
It was no mistake they got to work with Det. Morris and Det. Baker again. Dr. Kate Murphy (Jeri Ryan) requested it.
To get through the autopsy quickly and efficiently, Megan asked for Curtis' and Ethan's help, letting us get to know these characters better. As Curtis kept saying, working for Nancy Drew -- Dr. Hunt.
Curtis, who was her superior, was not so thrilled about being ordered around, insisting he will not approve any unnecessary tests. He still wants to be called a doctor. Megan wanted him to act like he gives a damn.

I have been looking forward to this. Just when the TV landscape has been speaking only to my short attention span recently, ABC offers up a familiar genre, I missed so much from the 80s, a juicy medical mystery, in the same vein of Quincy with heart. Although, I have not seen Dana Delany's other shows as much. She is one familiar face I love to see on television. And I wasn't disappointed.
The tagline:
Brilliant neurosurgeon Megan Hunt had it all, family and career, or so she thinks... until an accident killed her... career.
After a year as medical examiner, she still has to prove herself to her bosses and struggles to have a relationship with her twelve year old daughter, when her ex-husband got full custody.
In this episode, she is assigned the case of a drowning victim. What she finds out about the girl's life is what helped find her killer.

Chicago – Meet Megan Hunt. On second thought, don’t. In fact, avoid her like the plague. If you see her walking toward you, make sure to cross the street or dive into the next room. The woman needs space, you see. She’s been through a lot. And if you so much as throw a word in her general direction, you will be showered with the sort of self-satisfied smugness labeled in some quarters as “empowering.”
Pay careful attention female viewers, because ABC’s “Body of Proof” intends to empower you. Its heroine, Ms. Hunt, impeccably represents the Leigh Anne Tuohy era of faux feminism. Her strength and independence are represented by pure unbridled bitchiness. In scene after scene, Hunt struts into a room with her snobbish little grin and sizes up every situation with a stream of thickly worded exposition while everyone stands sheepishly gawking at her. This is decidedly more irritating than inspiring.

ABC's new crime drama, Body of Proof, asks a question that television shows have been trying to figure out for decades, usually without positive results - Can a really irritating, annoying bastard be the center of a show? This time around, perhaps softening the caustic nature of things (perhaps not), Dana Delaney is our obnoxious misanthrope du jour.
Dr. Megan Hunt (Delaney) was Head of Neurosurgery at a top Philadelphia hospital five years ago, but a car accident left her with a condition that causes her to lose full control of her hands. Random numbness and cramping in your hands not being one of the chief qualifications of a brain surgeon, Dr. Hunt has shifted to a job as a Medical Examiner. Still hoping to return to neurosurgery one day, and having lost custody of her daughter in the divorce, Dr. Hunt is... cranky.

I'm sure this happens to everyone now and again, the persistent feeling that it's a different day than it really is, but seeing as how I'm going out of town on Thursday and I haven't even finished packing yet this particular bit of cognitive dissonance is more confusing than usual and is causing me the occasional mild panic until I remember that it's not freaking Thursday and I maybe need some more coffee. This is similar to those times that I wake up from a dream where I slept through my alarm by hours only to realize that it's still dark out and I begin to wonder if my brain is driving me crazy and then I think "how can one's own brain drive them crazy?" and then I realize that my brain can totally tell I'm onto its plan.

In another case of finally using their bigger shows to boost the newbies, ABC is scheduled to air the second episode of the Dana Delaney procedural Body of Proof after a new episode of Desperate Housewives on April 3. The alphabet has sometimes been a little hesitant to rock the boat with their scheduling, but between this move, putting Mr. Sunshine behind Modern Family, and allowing the Off the Map premiere to get a second viewing post-Grey's, it seems that they're finally using their assets wisely. It's not been a great few seasons for new ABC dramas (in terms of ratings), so this move could help solidify Body of Proof into the next channel mainstay.

Earlier today, ABC announced its fall schedule for the upcoming 2010-2011 season and introduced several new shows. One of them is "Body of Proof", a new drama which will be airing on Friday nights at 9:00 p.m. The new series will star Dana Delaney (who recently starred on Desperate Housewives) as a neurosurgeon. ABC has released two clips for the upcoming series.
Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) was in a class of her own, a brilliant neurosurgeon at the top of her game. Her world is turned upside down when a devastating car accident puts an end to her time in the operating room. Megan resumes her career as a medical examiner determined to solve the puzzle of who or what killed the victims. Megan’s instincts are sharp, but she’s developed a reputation for graying the lines of where her job ends and where the police department’s begins.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the third announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on ABC.
The Alphabet solidly finished this past season with five of the top fifteen highest-rated TV series in the key Adults 18-49 demographic - "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost," "Desperate Housewives," "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Bachelor". Yet there's an obvious concern that the network has been floundering a bit when it comes to new shows - especially in terms of scripted drama which has been its greatest strength in modern times.
ABC had success launching four comedies last year, with both "Cougar Town" and "Modern Family" becoming ratings hits and the latter drawing critical acclaim. "Hank" outright flopped, but "The Middle" did well enough to get renewed. With reality shows it continues to do strong business...

Chicago – ABC continues to look for another “Lost” or “Modern Family” this fall with seven new shows announced today at their 2010 upfronts presentation. The network will see changes on four nights of the week but will bring back the sometimes on-the-bubble “Castle” in its Monday night timeslot while saying goodbye to “FlashForward,’ “Scrubs,” and “Better Off Ted”.
Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment Group, said this morning via press release, “Our passion for great storytelling is at the core of everything we do. Finding and supporting writers, directors, producers and actors who share that passion is critical to our success. Our shows are the product of these collaborations, and we are thrilled to add 10 new series to our schedule next year.” (Seven will premiere in the fall with three more reserved for midseason.)

It may be bad news for Mr. Moseby but good news for fans of The Suite Life on Deck. Zack and Cody are going to be around awhile longer to torment the hotel manager and passengers of the SS Tipton.
A spin-off of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, the sitcom follows twin boys Zack and Cody Martin (Dylan Sprouse, Cole Sprouse) and their friends aboard a luxurious ocean liner that doubles as a floating school. Other castmembers include Brenda Song, Debby Ryan, Doc Shaw, Phill Lewis, Erin Cardillo, Matthew Timmons, and Windell Middlebrooks.
The second season of Life on Deck is currently airing on the Disney Channel and is performing very well with the younger set. According to Disney, it’s the top series among kids 6-11 and number two with tweens ages 9-14. Season two has also been significantly outperforming Life on...

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we can report the following trio of casting scoops...
Annie Potts (pictured) is coming aboard Two and a Half Men as Judith’s mother, who is newly out of rehab. The guest-starring stint will take place on the October 5 episode. Windell Middlebrooks has signed on to Scrubs as one of the medical school’s two security guards. He has very big, Janitor-like shoes to fill. No specific casting news for NCIS, but the show is looking for someone to play the potentially recurring role of Agent Ruiz, an attractive, female jock of a federal agent.

It seems that David Alan Grier's Chocolate News is following in the footsteps of D.L. Hughley's CNN news show, D.L. Hughley Breaks the News. After a 10-episode run, the Comedy Central show has been cancelled.
Chocolate News features comedian Grier performing satirical commentary and sketches centered around current events and news stories. The episodes are said to reflect the comic's view of world events, and one of the network's press releases even went so far as to call it a show with an “African-American take on the news."
In truth, the series focuses more on sketch comedy than news stories, with the host playing a variety of characters -- from fictitious rappers to poet Maya Angelou. Series supporting players include Chris Tallman, Tangie Ambrose, Alphonso McAuley, Jordan Peele, Troy Curvey Jr., Paige Diaz, Luenell, Windell Middlebrooks, Janet Varney, and Gary Anthony Williams.
