Hull based shoegaze quartet bdrmm return with a new single titled “Mud”. The track arrives hot on the heels of the bands widely lauded second album “I Don’t Know”, which came out earlier this year on Mogwai’s Rock Action label.
The post-shoegaze, dream pop, heavy guitar effects quartet’s latest album arrived in late-June to critical acclaim with the likes of Consequence calling it “one of their most enticing successes yet” and Rolling Stone UK describing it as “a chaotic, thrilling evolution”. The lead single “It’s Just A Bit Of Blood” was also playlisted on BBC Radio 6 Music, and Brooklyn Vegan made the record their Album Of The Week saying that “I Don’t Know” saw them “not only avoid the sophomore slump, but deliver a second album that is miles better their debut.”

Documentary charts the station’s rise from pirate outfit to Britpop champion, featuring alumni including Ricky Gervais and Steve Lamacq
This account of the rise and fall of radio station Xfm (by Ray Burdis and co-director Ian Jefferies) will bring rheumy tears of nostalgic wistfulness to the eyes of Gen Xers and older millennials who were living in London in the 1990s. Not that it’s especially sad: if anything it’s a classic story of cool kids who get to live the dream then either sell out to the man or be betrayed by the guys who sold out, but still end up doing all right in the end. Nobody dies, apart from poor Princess Diana who was killed the morning that Xfm was starting its first day of legal broadcasting, thus rather dampening the exultant mood.

More than two decades after first recording “I Promise,” Radiohead just released a music video for the “Ok Computer” outtake. Said video comes courtesy of Polish helmer Michal Marczak, who most recently directed “All These Sleepless Nights.” Watch below.

Steve Lamacq of BBC Radio 6 premiered the song yesterday, noting that Radiohead was “especially pleased to find [the song] in the vaults, because they thought it’d been lost over the years.” In the video, a group of lonesome travelers take a nighttime bus ride, their faces expressing a collective feeling that only the dulcet tones of ’90s-era Radiohead can fully convey — especially given the oddball ending.

Fans of folk songs with werewolf noises and Jurassic Park references look here now, because you may just love this new band! If you have been to a folk/acoustic gig around London in the last 5 years you may have already seen Joe Innes perform. Working his way around pretty much every live music venue in town Joe has been a constant presence on the local folk and acoustic scene. Now he has assembled from across the wide reaches of London (and maybe elsewhere) a band to create a bigger noise and record his debut album, The Frighteners.
I like to think Joe stood in Shoreditch and shouted “Cavalcade Assemble” like the anti-folk superhero he is.
Recorded at The House of Strange in London, where the likes of Mumford & Sons, Noah and the Whale and Summer Camp have all recorded before, Joe had to trade in half his comic book...

“Fresh from a personal invite to support Elbow”
The first phrase emblazoned in upper case and bold across the top of the Press Release. An impressive piece of information but one that belies the music that is on offer within this four track Ep. Though, it goes some way to showing just how far this five piece of come since their foundation and formation of barely a year or so. On top of that they’re getting championed by the likes of renowned and influential Radio DJ/Presenter Steve Lamacq amongst others.
Such is the way of up and coming bands that make an industry impact without a wider arrival, however with The Slow Show, there is a potential for the otherwise, that rare thing where beyond being able to infiltrate the musos, the journos and the whoevers of the music industry, you can take that and run with it,...

Regular listeners may know him as the third member of popular Today Network drivetime trio Fifi, Jules and The Other One. But it seems that show anchor Byron Cooke is better known overseas.
He’s picked up the title of International Radio Personality of the Year 2012 at the World Radio Summit in the Us, beating the likes of the BBC’s Zane Lowe, Chris Moyles and Steve Lamacq along with Triple J’s Richard Kingsmill.
According to the Southern Cross Austereo press release, Cooke said, “I was totally shocked to get the nomination and to see my name alongside four of music radio’s heavy hitters is nothing short of an honour.”
Not half as shocked as Dr Mumbo suspects Chris Moyles was.

London -- Music stars David Bowie and Mark Ronson have reacted angrily to the BBC's decision to close its 6 Music station, seen as a key platform for alternative and lesser-known rock and pop acts.
BBC Radio 6 describes itself as a station that "brings together the cutting edge of today and the iconic and groundbreaking music of the past 40 years," and has a weekly audience of about 700,000 listeners. It was one of the first BBC digital stations and went on air in 2002.
The decision to shutter the station is part of a strategy to redirect about £600 million ($900 million) into higher quality content such as its journalism, U.K. drama and comedy.
Commercial rivals such as ITV and Channel 4 could then be left to bid for sports or U.S. drama.
When details of the plans to take 6 Music off the air first surfaced last week, Bowie issued a statement on his website.
