If a writer options their screenplay for a fee tied to the film’s budget and that budget is later increased, is their manager obligated to disclose the bump and renegotiate their pay if the manager is also a producer on the project?
The answer to that question appears to be no, at least in the case of screenwriter Kurt McLeod, who sued Zero Gravity Management alleging it had a conflict of interest when it negotiated his deal for writing Copshop.
U.S. District Judge Fred Slaughter, in an order issued on Tuesday, found that Zero Gravity and its founders Eric and Mark Williams won’t have to face a suit accusing them of prioritizing their payout for producing Copshop to the detriment of their client by failing disclose that the budget for the movie had been substantially raised. Fear The Walking Dead wraps up its tumultuous third season with an explosive finale. Spoilers ahead in our review...
This review contains spoilers.

3.15 Things Bad Begun & 3.16 Sleigh Ride
As Fear The Walking Dead’s third season draws to a close with much sound and fury, I can’t help but wonder what it all signifies. This season saw the rise and inevitable fall of Broke Jaw Ranch, and also saw inevitable destruction of the dam. We witnessed many, many deaths, most notably Travis, Ofelia, and the entire Otto family. And yet, despite all of this death and destruction, the Clark family somehow stayed intact. This isn’t to say they never found themselves in harm’s way, because just the opposite is true.

Nick (Jon Bass) would like to think he’s “endearing weird,” but the world seems to perceive him as “weird weird.” That’s tough enough, but when the feisty Dani (Juno Temple) is thrown into the mix, Nick’s non-endearing weirdness is pushed to some crazy ends.
In Ben Smith and Megan McDonnell’s “Meet Cute” (written by Smith and produced by Josh Thurston), what’s meant to be a low-key study date between the two adorably mismatched stars shifts and changes over the course of an afternoon, initially weird, then charming, then right back to weird weird. (Short version: Hey, it’s really easy to be confused for a serial killer.)

Nick Lachey is no longer predicting a forecast of 98-degrees. The 43-year-old star took to Instagram today to share a hilarious throwback from his boy band days alongside a more current image of him recreating the pose. But there's one stark difference—turns out covering up his 98 Degrees tattoo wasn't the hardest thing. The original ink featured a black and white sun with "98˚" printed in the center, while his updated tat blocked out the band name by filling in the sun's center. Captioning the post, "Today's forecast," the text on the singer's meme read, "How hot is it? Hell if I know but it sure is sunny…" Nick may be saying goodbye to his...

Al Roker‘s son may only be 15, but he already has a big advantage over his father.
The Today show co-anchor and weather personality shared a photo of himself and Nicholas “Nick” Albert to Instagram on Sunday. And it looks like Al will be looking up to Nick now, seeing as his son is taller than him!
“My boy just got back from #summer #camp and grew like a weed,” Roker, 62, wrote in the photo’s caption. “What the heck do they #feed them at camp?”

The Mummy seemed like a cash grab from the moment it was announced. Universal has been trying to launch a universe of their own, featuring classic movie monsters associated with the studio, including Frankenstein, the Wolfman, and the Invisible Man, for years. The Mummy is essentially the studio going "all in" to jump start what is now called Dark Universe. Casting a star as large as Tom Cruise initially read as an attempt to make up for shortcomings in other areas. When you don't have much else, attach the biggest movie star in the world, and your film will sell (maybe)! Additionally, though the first movie came out in 1999, the Brendan Fraser lead Mummy franchise is still fresh enough in the public's mind that starting a new universe with The Mummy seemed like a strange choice. So, is The Mummy just another ill-advised attempt to launch a universe, cashing in...

Nick may be whittling the girls down week by week, but he's not cutting the right ones, according to a handful of standouts. But let's not play games, here. The "right one" to go home is Corinne, according to every other girl there.
Corinne continues to make extraordinary TV, Bachelor history for that matter. This week, it's her comparing herself to both Abraham Lincoln and Michael Jordan, and then claiming shoveling manure would send her to the hospital.
The bad news is that we're still talking about Corinne Olympios. But the good news is that now we're Also talking about the other girls taking about her, and that's so much more fun. Here's what Bachelor alums are saying about this week's shenanigans.

Nick may have a lot of explaining (and groveling) to do after the women learn he hooked up with Liz, but it's season 21 of The Bachelor and group dates must go on. Seven of the women get to rock their bodies because the Backstreet Boys are back, alright! The uber-popular boy band helps Nick make it a memorable date as the women and their dream guy prepare to take the stage. Nick also recruits former Olympians Carl Lewis, Allyson Felix and Michelle Carter to train seven bachelorettes for the first-ever "Nickathalon" where they'll compete for the Bachelor's attention. But these events have have a romantic twist.

Had Freaks And Geeks, Caprica and more not been cancelled, here’s what their showrunners had planned for their futures. Spoilers…
Warning: major spoilers for all shows listed below.
Closure. It’s an important psychological concept. Without closure, it’s difficult to grieve, move on, make peace and nurture your inner Ewok or whatever it is the self-help books tell us. When a TV show is cancelled before its story has been fully told, the result is an unscratchable itch.
That itch can have positive side effects. The creativity for instance, of fanfic and fan art, and the tenacity and camaraderie of doggedly pursued fan campaigns. The less positive side though is, well, not so pretty. Sleepless nights, anxiety at work, a tendency to grasp total strangers by the shoulders with both hands, hot stress-tears streaming down your cheeks, and cry “So did Lois and Clark raise that baby or what?...

New Footage of Fear The Walking Dead Gets Released. We were given a glimpse of what’s coming in the teaser trailer, but we may have just found our first real footage of the upcoming AMC spin-off Fear the Walking Dead. This new promo will have us running for our lives for sure.
In the new promo, we find a terrified Nick (Frank Dillane) who makes an escape from a house and runs into the street. It seems that Nick may be running from a zombie, indicating there will be some early signs of the zombie epidemic once The Walking Dead companion series takes off. Even the background music gives us that Inception-type vibe when the promo starts playing.
The promo also revealed when we can expect the series to air, turning out to be sometime in August. This would definitely excite fans, as we are only a month away...

As Jurassic World bites a hole in our multiplexes, we compares its events to John Sayles' Jurassic Park IV script from a decade ago...
Nb: the following contains spoilers for Jurassic World.
For Universal, the success of Jurassic World is the $500m pay-off to a story which began well over a decade ago. Work on a third Jurassic Park sequel originally began after the release of Joe Johnston’s coolly-received Jurassic Park III way back in 2001, yet the film languished in a pre-production quagmire as writer after writer seemingly struggled to crack the story.
William Monahan (The Departed, Kingdom Of Heaven) was the first screenwriter to step up to the plate, announced at a time when Keira Knightley was reportedly in the running for a major role. Around that time, Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough were also thought to be returning to their respective roles of Ian Malcom and John Hammond.

Welcome to another "American Idol" night with a confusing theme. Per Fox, "the finalists will perform two songs – one connected to the judges’ hometowns, and the other a song that defines their 'soul.'" So the first theme means anything from or related to anything related to New York, New Orleans or Whangarei, New Zealand? Or are we pretending still that Keith Urban's hometown is Nashville? And the second theme means... Absolutely anything, right? Fair enough, I guess... The 22-year-old singer shared his version of the song and even took to Twitter to tell the rapper about how much he loves the new single. The sexy crooner stopped by "The Tonight Show" last week, where he tested his drawing expertise in a game with Jimmy Fallon, Don Cheadle and Kevin Bacon. In that article, I name-checked Funny Or Die’s Drunk History, which dealt with a far wider...

January appears to be the month of lists here at Kasterborous and, with the excellent recent summary of those moments from the show that weren’t quite right, it only seems proper to celebrate those things from Who history that were just plain wrong. What were the writers, designers and props people thinking? Read on and...

Arriving on Blu-ray just prior to the Academy announces its nominations, where the film is sure to pick up some nominations despite going home empty handed (zero in four) from the Golden Globes, the opening Nyff Gone Girl has become one of the year’s most talked about titles. Certainly standing as one of the most notable studio directed auteur features of the year, released October 3rd to brisk business pulling in more than his previous two films, a rewatch enhances its inescapably pulpy fervor. This is well produced neo-noir, with a dash of subtle camp and a star making performance from Rosamund Pike (who was cited by dozens of critic associations including a Globe nom) that recalls studio era dames that had more than enough steely backbone to railroad their male counterparts with energy and appeal to spare. Hardly a mutation of feminist ideals, the realm of the privileged...

The final episode of Peter Capaldi’s first season as the Doctor has just finished and I have already had two texts asking me what I thought of both Death In Heaven, and the series as a whole. As the resident Who fan of our social circle, I often get asked what, to quote Eric Morecambe, I’ve...

Continuing the theme of the title, my king-making choice (a man to take over from Steven Moffat as showrunner of the good ship Tardis) is a bit like the guy who in 1714 suggested putting George I on the throne of England: “Yeah – Hanover. Never been here, doesn’t speak English- worth a punt?” Howard...

There are some corners of the universe that have bred the most amusing things, things so mirth-inducing they have to be seen to be believed. They must be watched. These include the inebriated musings of the ChiqueGeeks, whose drunken reviews of Who distracted me from the otherwise grown up and serious business of research for...

"Marriage is hard work," says Amy Dunne in Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl. The longer one has been married, the greater one understands the meaning behind the phrase "honeymoon period." In David Fincher's adaptation of Flynn's bestseller, the magical romance between Nick (Ben Affleck) and Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) has hit the wall five years in. They fall in love in New York City, but when they both lose their magazine jobs and his mother falls ill in Missouri, they move to his hometown and quickly drift apart. How far apart? Nick may have murdered her. When Amy goes...

Screens From a Marriage: Fincher Makes Pulpy Lemonade
Undoubtedly one of 2014′s most anticipated titles, David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s bestseller, Gone Girl finds the filmmaker once more dipping into the realm of pulpy beatitude, following the auteur’s last feature, 2011’s rehash of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Sure to entice fans of the source novel, Fincher’s mesmerizing exercise contends to examine the mechanisms that support the notion of coupledom and marriage, revealing the underbelly that lurks behind the personas we present to polite society when ripped apart by sensationalism, here in the arena of frenzied media. Part satire, mystery, thriller, and character study, it’s a potent mix of rhythms rather precisely patterned by Fincher. Taut and surprisingly funny in its grim certainties about the parts of love and courtship not whispered about in songs or poetry, you’ll skate through its extensive...

Brooding disquiet as tensions bubble up in Dictynna Hood's sure-footed debut, the story of a fraught return to the rural
For her debut feature, British film-maker Dictynna Hood has created a brooding drama of rural disquiet and sexual tension. It's technically accomplished, though perhaps over-determined and self-conscious. Benedict Cumberbatch plays David, a schoolteacher who takes a job in his home village in Kent, moving back there with his young wife, Dawn, played by Claire Foy, also a teacher. They are fixing up a cottage there, and their marriage is happy, although with some tension about trying for a baby. Then David's disturbed younger brother, Nick (Shaun Evans), shows up; he has been away in the army. Nick starts telling the increasingly uncomfortable Claire about all the village's secrets, and his brother's secrets, too. Nick may look like the disturbed one, but David isn't quite the cool customer he pretends to be.
