Wil Wheaton has unloaded on Larry David for the Curb Your Enthusiasm star’s on-air Elmo attack.
The Star Trek: The Next Generation actor posted an intense 900-word essay on Facebook about the purportedly unscripted viral stunt, where David throttled the ever-cheerful and child-like Sesame Street icon live on NBC’s Today during a segment on mental health, and then told viewers “somebody had to do it.” David was prodded into apologizing for the incident, but he did so seemingly reluctantly and with a smile.
Wheaton had a strong reaction to the footage and revealed he was abused in a similar way growing up. His rant has made some reexamine last week’s incident — which was largely greeted with amusement online — while others are mocking the actor as “profanely oversensitive.”

"Percy Jackson and the Olympians," the second attempt at adapting the popular book series by Rick Riordan, is taking one step closer to being able to tell its complete story. After the movie series ended abruptly with the terrible "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," Disney has decided to renew the TV adaptation for a second season that tackles the events of that story. This was announced by CEO Bob Iger during the company's first quarter earnings call for 2024. The news comes as Disney announced the first season of "Percy Jackson" was their biggest non-Marvel and non-"Star Wars" hit on streaming.
"I can't wait to bring the next season of 'Percy Jackson' to Disney+! Raise anchors. Hoist the mainsail. All hands on deck, demigods. We're heading for the Sea of Monsters!" Riordan said in a statement. The upcoming second season sees the return of Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries,...

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” has been renewed for its second season at Disney+.
As announced on Disney’s latest quarterly earnings call by CEO Bob Iger, Season 1 has been streamed for over 110 million hours across both Disney+ and Hulu. Divided by the season’s runtime, that translates to roughly 20.6 million total views, suggesting that the season’s audience grew throughout its monthlong run, as Variety exclusively reported that Episode 1 hit 13.3 million views in its first six days of availability.
The series was also a hit with critics, earning a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes with Variety‘s Aramide Tinubu praising it as “a gorgeous, intriguing narrative about self-discovery, courage and friendship.”
Adapted from Rick Riordan’s book series of the same name, “Percy Jackson’s” success was crucial for Disney, whose execs gave the series a Star Wars-sized budget and were betting on its potential to kick off a major franchise.

Percy Jackson completed his quest.
The season finale of Percy Jackson and the Olympians finds the title character (Walker Scobell) confronting two powerful Greek gods, sharing emotional scenes with both of his parents — and discovering that there might be more challenges to come. In keeping with the structure of The Lightning Thief, the Rick Riordan novel that’s the source material for this season, the finale showcases several high-stakes scenes that all feel like climaxes to the story, only to build to another big moment.
First, Percy faces down Ares (Adam Copeland) in hopes of retrieving Hades’ helm and preventing an all-out war among the gods and its disastrous consequences for humanity. After successfully taking on the god of war — with a little help from the sea — he travels to Olympus to return the master bolt to Zeus (Lance Reddick, in one of his final acting roles before his death...

Apart from avoiding what “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” showrunner Jonathan E. And Charlie Bushnell, who plays the traitor himself, is definitely excited for what a proper confrontation between the two might look like.
In the season finale of the Disney+ series, now streaming, Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) and his friends return to camp, ready to rat out Clarisse (Dior Goodjohn) as the traitor, after they figure that Ares (Adam Copeland) would only protect one of his own children.
But, as it turns out, the traitor is really Luke (Bushnell). He gave Percy the winged shoes hoping that they’d drag him down to Tartarus and straight to Kronos. Luke didn’t anticipate Percy giving the shoes to Grover (Aryan Simhadri). So,...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the season finale of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” now streaming on Disney+.
The first season of the long-awaited “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series on Disney+ has come to a close, and it ended the same way Rick Riordan’s first book did: Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) part ways before the school year, knowing that they’ll reunite in the not-so-distant future with a bit more world-saving to do. But the journey to get there was often unpredictable, even for fans of the novel.
Most notably, Percy fails his quest. He and his friends miss the summer solstice deadline to find and return Zeus’ (the late Lance Reddick) stolen master lightning bolt, kicking off a war between Zeus and Poseidon (Toby Stephens) — and marking the series’ biggest departure from the book. Still, the kids plunge...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the season finale of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Percy Jackson has restored some order to Mount Olympus — for now.
The Season 1 finale of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians uncovered the truth about who stole the Master Bolt, as well as their motive. After their run-in with Ares (Adam Copeland) that resulted in the trio stealing back his shield in order to make it to Los Angeles before the solstice, a trip to the Underworld reveals that Ares was never their benevolent savior in the first place. In fact, he definitely had something to do with Percy being framed for stealing the Master Bolt.
Once Percy, Annabeth and Grover manage to escape Hades without Percy’s mom, they confront Ares about conspiring with Clarisse (or so they think) to wreak havoc on Mount Olympus. Walker Scobell, who plays Percy, went head-to-head...

With Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 coming to a close on Tuesday, January 30, Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri are looking back on the adventure that was creating this Disney+ series. In the TV Insider video above, the golden trio shares the story of their first chemistry test as a group, revealing when they knew in their guts that they would be the show’s Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. Scobell was cast first, and then came the search for Percy’s quest mates and best friends. Landing the coveted roles required a lot of work from the young actors, who were just 13 and 15 years old when they were cast. Scobell read with all of the Annabeth and Grover hopefuls, and it was well worth the effort. Their scene was from the Greyhound bus in Episode 3, when the demigods and satyr have just begun their quest. When Percy...

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 finale finally introduces the late Lance Reddick as Zeus, sky god and King of Olympus. Zeus’ presence has lingered all season long as Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) searched for his stolen master bolt and worked to uncover the identity of the lightning thief. With Toby Stephens‘ Poseidon and Jay Duplass‘ Hades introduced in Episode 7, Zeus is the last remaining god of the Big Three left to meet before the season comes to an end. Reddick died on March 17, 2023 of complications from Ischemic Heart Disease and Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease. The 60-year-old’s death was a shock to all, and his absence is sorely felt by the Percy Jackson team. While he only appears in the Episode 8 finale, “The Prophecy Comes True”, his time on set made an impact on those who worked with him. TV Insider...

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 comes to a close next week on January 30. Episode 7, premiering tonight (January 23) at 9/8c on Disney+, will continue to unfold the season-long mystery of the lightning thief’s identity. Book fans well know this answer, but for those who don’t, who stole the master bolt? Let’s dive into the possibilities. Did Clarisse Steal the Master Bolt in Percy Jackson? Grover (Aryan Simhadri) spent Episode 5 slyly extracting intel from the war god, Ares (Adam Copeland of WWE and Aew fame). By the end of this interrogation disguised as an interview with a major fan, Grover was convinced he figured out who stole Zeus’s bolt: Clarisse La Rue (Dior Goodjohn), Ares’ favorite daughter whom viewers met back at Camp Half-Blood. Disney+’s recent show, which adapts the fan-favorite Rick Riordan book series, has been, for the most part, hitting all the right notes for its fans.
It probably helps that the series has been very faithful to the original books—much more than the first two movies starring Logan Lerman were. But that does not mean there have not been changes.

Wrestling fans will be delighted by Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ casting of the war god, Ares. Aew‘s Adam Copeland, aka Edge, plays the fiery god in the Disney+ original series, and TV Insider has the exclusive first look at Copeland in his debut episode. Ares makes his grand entrance in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 Episode 5, “A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers,” premiering Tuesday, January 9 at 9/8c on Disney+. In it, the quest deepens as Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) are tasked with a favor from a fearsome opponent. Ares fits that bill quite nicely, but he’s not the only god or monster seen in Tuesday’s episode. Episode 4 left off with Percy plummeting from the top of the St. Louis Arch into the Mississippi River below, landing safely thanks to a little well-timed help from his dad, Poseidon, from up in Olympus.

The gifts don’t stop in December at Disney+! In addition to holiday festivities all month long like the Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade and the CMA Country Christmas Special, the House of Mouse streamer will soon become the home for Whovians and Demigods.
Disney+ will deck the halls with a glut of Gallifreyan adventures and the premiere of the long-awaited “Doctor Who” anniversary specials. The first of the three debuted on BBC One and on the Disney streamer on Nov. 25, but the other two David Tennant and Catherine Tate-led serials will arrive on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9. Later in the month, ring in Christmas with the franchise’s holiday special with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson getting their full-episode debuts.
And the wait is over for “Percy Jackson” fans, who will see the beloved Rick Riordan book series get a (hopefully) respectful adaptation with the premiere of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

In 2010, 20th Century Fox brought to life the first film in the Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief starring Logan Lerman. Fox would bring over the director of the early Harry Potter films, Chris Columbus, to helm the start of this new franchise. The Lightning Thief would go on to become a hit as it grossed $226.4 million worldwide with a production budget of $95 million. The sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, also became a modest hit and a third film, The Titan’s Curse, was set to be the next installment, but it never manifested.
