The 22nd Critics’ Choice Award is less than a month away. We may be enjoying the shiny new TV season, and while it may seem all fun and new, critics are all to ready to begin awarding some honors. The Broadcast Television Journalists Association have officially announced, via Entertainment Weekly, the TV nominees.
Leading the pack with six nominations is The People v. O.J. Simpson, not a huge surprise given its subject matter and solid execution. Also of note are the sheer number of nominations that HBO has under its belt this year — 22 in total. Noticeably absent are this year’s Netflix Marvel shows. Despite being great TV, it still seems like critics are unwilling to give comic book adaptations their fair shake come awards season.
Oh well. Better luck next year, I suppose? The film nominations will be announced on December 1, 2016.
