Before he was drinking blood on The CW’s hit series, The Vampire Diaries, Ian Somerhalder was just a budding star in The Rules of Attraction, a film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel about sex, drugs, and college students.
While the 2002 film was largely popular due to James Van Der Beek’s unexpected dark turn following years on Dawson’s Creek, it was Somerhalder who stole the spotlight with his role as the underwear-clad Paul Denton.

The then 24-year-old actor spoke exclusively with Et about the role that saw him dancing in his underwear in a hotel room to George Michael’s “Faith,” making out with co-star Van Der Beek, and being on the edge of stardom.

Happy birthday, Ian Somerhalder.
Everyone's favorite bad-vampire-turned-good-guy (or so we thought ...) turns 35 on Sunday (Dec. 8), and to celebrate the big day, Zap2it looked back at Somerhalder's career and picked his five best roles so far.
5. Somerhalder got his start on the WB's "Dawson's Creek" spinoff series, "Young Americans." He played Hamilton Fleming, the son of his school's dean and dated a girl who disguised herself to look like a boy in order to get the attention of her absent mother.
4. Taking a crack at movies, Somerhalder starred with James Van Der Beek in the dramedy movie, "The Rules of Attraction." He played Paul Denton, a bisexual who develops an attraction to Van Der Beek's Sean, who eventually rejects him.
3. During Season 3 of "Smallville," Somerhalder played Adam Knight (formerly known as Chad Nash), a resurrected teen with a bleeding eye problem sent by Lionel Luthor to spy on Clark Kent and Lana Lang.

Womp-womp! Can't imagine Skrillex will be showing up in this movie the way he cameo'd in "Wreck-it-Ralph," but the new trailer for "The Canyons" gets its dubstep on nevertheless.
Oh yeah. It also features Lindsay Lohan, porn star James Deen (clever!), plus some script assistance from world's wackiest Tweeter Bret Easton Ellis, no stranger to controversy thanks to "American Psycho" and "Less Than Zero" (which featured one of the best movie soundtracks ever - Slayer, LL Cool J, The Bangles, etc. - with absolutely zero womp-womp dubstep). "Less Than Zero" saw Robert Downey Jr. on his knees in front of another dude at the behest of coke dealer turned pimp James Spader.
"The Rules of Attraction," another Easton Ellis stamped flick, had onetime WB goodie-goodie Jessica Biel in lingerie, future "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder as bisexual lothario Paul Denton and even Dawson himself, James Van Der Beek.

Talk about your star potential! These 10 men are best known for their TV work, but we'd happily pay money to see them at the multiplex. Admittedly, this is a subjective list, and we may have left off many of your favorite TV actors. So if you find yourself disagreeing with our selections, we invite you to share your own list of 10 in the comments!
Kevin Alejandro
Anyone who is a fan of Kevin Alejandro knows that he certainly can play a death scene. The actor has had recurring or guest starring roles on over two dozen TV series, and a disproportionate number of those appearances have ended with the death of his character. Alejandro was Justin Suarez' protective tough guy dad Santos on Ugly Betty – Shot and killed in a random convenience store robbery. He was Det. Nate Moretta on Southland – Caught in a gang riot and beaten to death.

CarDesignFetish recent wrapped up a cool little contest where they asked people to redesign Batman's Batmobile. As you all know this is one of the most iconic vehicles ever, and has gone through several designs over the years in the comic books, TV and the movies. The entry's were evaluated on the merits of cool design and sketching basics, so perspective and proportion were important. A lot of these designs are freakin' awesome and very creative.
The winner of the contest was Paul Denton who created the the design directly below, which has a cool little spooky feel to it. The image above was designed by Matt Gould and he won the international portion of the contest.
Check out some of the Batmobile designs below and let us know what your favorite one is.
