Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim once again demonstrated its unrivaled franchise power through Marvel, Lucasfilm, Disney and Pixar, as well as the unique mining of its animated legacy. And, in highlighting its social relevance, the emphasis was on diversity and unity in conquering prejudice and hate.
On Friday, the Expo was ecstatic over the hilarious clip of Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) getting snarky with all of the Disney princesses in “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” (November 21, 2018) — the ultimate Mouse House strut. It was also refreshing to learn that Holly Hunter’s mom, Helen/Elastagirl, will be the star of Brad Bird’s “Incredibles 2” (June 15, 2018), picks up where the last one left off in 2004, with the Underminer (John Ratzenberger) wreaking havoc.
However, on Saturday, Disney wowed them with clips and behind-the-scene footage from “Mary Poppins Returns,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “The Lion King.

A certain governess is still staging elaborate scenes on the streets of London in the first photos from Mary Poppins Returns that debuted on Entertainment Weekly today. These early looks at the 1930s-set sequel find Poppins, now played by Emily Blunt, palling around with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who plays a lamplighter—and Dick Van Dyke substitute—named Jack, and otherwise using the city as her jungle gym.

The colors are bright and evocative of the original, although this is a story of Poppins bringing cheer in a time of economic strife. My mom's favorite childhood movie is Mary Poppins, so when I was growing up we would watch Mary Poppins all the time. I loved watching the movie and I have a lot of fond memories watching it. I never thought we would see a sequel for it, but it's coming. It's called Mary Poppins Returns and I'm excited to see what Disney has planned for it.
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have some new photos to share with you for the film and they feature Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins; Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, who is a London lamplighter and the protege of Dick Van Dyke’s Bert; Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks, who grew up to become a banker and artist; and Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, who is working as a union organizer. Also included are Michael’s kids, Annabel (Pixie Davies), Georgie (Joel Dawson), and John (Nathanael Saleh...

Mary Poppins Returns just outside London’s famous Buckingham Palace in this fresh batch of set photos for Disney’s fantastical continuation.
Coming to us by way of Metro, up above you’ll get another sneak peek at Emily Blunt in the title role, who picks up the suitcase, magical umbrella and iconic pink hat first donned by Julie Andrews all those years ago. Pitched as a sequel and definitely not a remake – unlike, say, Disney’s recent box office smash, Beauty and the Beast – Mary Poppins Returns is set against the Depression-era London of the 1930s, where Jane and Michael Banks are now all grown up and have children of their own. That doesn’t exempt the Banks siblings from a visit from Blunt’s lovable nanny, though.
And now that filming continues apace in the English capital, these set photos tease a number of extras dressed in period garb.

Disney teased out the first image of “Mary Poppins Returns” last month, but the single profile shot of Emily Blunt was not enough to appease fans thirsting for more sneak peeks from the London production. At least one photographer has managed to secure an additional snapshot, Vulture reports. The pic features Blunt on a bike wearing Mary Poppins’ signature hat, flanked by Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Jack. Three children also appear in the photo, presumably Michael Banks’ kids.

She’s practically perfect from every angle.
Disney has just released a dazzling first look at Mary Poppins Returns, the forthcoming sequel in which the titular nanny is played by the correspondingly magical Emily Blunt. The original follow-up to the cherished 1964 musical will arrive in theaters Dec. 25, 2018.
In this new image, we get just a taste of all the trappings that will help transform Blunt into the legendary caretaker — namely, a stunning peacock-cobalt ruffled coat and a deep rich bird-adorned pink hat, both instantly parallel to but distinctive from what Julie Andrews donned...

Disney has just released a first look photo from its upcoming musical “Mary Poppins Returns.” The image shows actress Emily Blunt transformed into the titular character of the original sequel to the 1964 classic, which starred Julie Andrews as Poppins.
In the photo, Blunt is wearing a long cobalt-blue coat with ruffles in the back, a burgundy hat, blue gloves and a colorful weekend bag. She seems to be standing on the famed Cherry Tree Lane in London, the same street to which she was blown by the wind some 20 years ago, when she first started caring for the Banks children.

Ensuring that no corner of its upcoming Mary Poppins Returns is devoid of whimsical old-school Britishness, Disney has announced that Angela Lansbury has been cast in the Emily Blunt-starring sequel. Lansbury—whose past Disney collaborations include Bedknobs And Broomsticks and Beauty And The Beast—will play the Balloon Lady, a beloved character from P.L. Travers’ original Mary Poppins books.
Lansbury joins a cast that includes Blunt as the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious nanny herself, along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, and a small appearance from the original films’ Dick Van Dyke. Set in Depression-era London, the film sees Poppins return to once again inject some joy into the lives of a now-adult Jane and Michael Banks, and is set for a Christmas 2018 release.
