A new city gets to experience the horrors of Bird Box in the first official trailer for Bird Box Barcelona, a spin-off sequel to the 2018 post-apocalyptic thriller film. While bodies are falling from the sky and people are flooding public transportation trying to escape to safety, that familiar sense of unease that defined the original, which starred Sandra Bullock, begins to creep back in.

"There are worse things than the creatures." Netflix has revealed the main official trailer for the Bird Box Barcelona movie (also known as Blindly in Spanish). It will be available to watch in just a few more weeks. The Netflix Spain production tells another story within the same post-apocalyptic people-go-kill-themselves universe as the first Bird Box in 2018. After a mysterious force decimates the world's population by causing all who "see" it to suddenly take their lives, Sebastian and his daughter Anna must navigate their journey of survival through the desolate streets of Barcelona. As they form an uneasy alliance with other survivors and make their way toward a safe haven, a threat more sinister than unseen creatures grows. This stars Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Patrick Criado, Diego Calva Hernández, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo de Castro, Michelle Jenner, and Leonardo Sbaraglia. Really looks like this'll be much better than the original film.

The second teaser trailer for Netflix’s Bird Box spinoff, Bird Box Barcelona, reveals much more of the terror the citizens of Barcelona are feeling as the creatures launch their attack. The premise remains the same as the original film – cover your eyes and never ever look at the creatures – but the setting switches to show how the world’s dealing with these bizarre beasts.
Bird Box starring Oscar winner Sandra Bullock premiered in December 2018, and the spinoff will debut on Netflix on July 14, 2023. Goya award winner Mario Casas (No matarás) leads the cast of the spinoff, starring Georgina Campbell, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva, and Patrick Criado.
In addition, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo De Castro, Michelle Jenner, and Leonardo Sbaraglia also star.
Álex Pastor and David Pastor penned the screenplay and co-directed. Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan, Núria Valls, Adrián Guerra, Josh Malerman, and Ryan Lewis produced the post-apocalyptic thriller.

Five years after the original "Bird Box" became an absolute sensation on Netflix, we're finally getting a follow-up. While it's not a proper sequel, it is more of a spin-off taking place elsewhere in the world. In this case, Spain, which is why the forthcoming movie is aptly titled "Bird Box Barcelona." That also has a nice alliterative ring to it. But that's about the only thing about this movie that looks nice, as it seems absolutely chaotic and tense.
This appears to be going with a very similar conceit as the original film, with survivors trying to avoid eye contact with the mysterious beings at the center of this disaster at all costs. It's a new group of people in an entirely new location. What will those new elements bring to the table? Let's have a look-see.

In today's news of slightly unnecessary projects, Netflix is reviving its hit original film "Bird Box" with a sequel-extension film called "Bird Box Barcelona." You read that right, we're getting another "Bird Box" film, but seemingly one that is simply adjacent to, and not a continuation of, the events of the original. Interesting.
Netflix debuted a one-minute teaser trailer for the new film — which was announced back in March 2021 — and it gives us a glimpse into a similar event as the 2018 film, only in Europe this time. There is chaos in major cities, and folks turn to obscuring their sight in the outside world in order to obtain shelter. Again, it's very much a global repositioning of the events of the first film, however, it does seem like this new story will have some of its own twists and turns.

The best received of Spanish series at last month’s Málaga Festival, “Nights in Tefía” (“Las Noches de Tefía”) hit the festival with already strong buzz. The latest from Spain’s Buendía Estudios and SVOD service Atresplayer Premium whose titles also include “Veneno” and “Cardo,” “Nights in Tefía” proved a critics’ favourite. Written and directed by Miguel del Arco, a distinguished Spanish playwright and theater director, it turns on Airam Betancor who, living in Tenerife in 2004, recognises an old man shuffling down the street: Robles.
He’s the same man who, 42 years before, as a prison guard at the euphemistically named Tefía Penitentiary Agricultural Colony on Fuerteventura, another Canary Island, had beaten and tortured Airam as a teen inmate of the Francoist labor camp designed as a dumping ground for undesirables, from political dissidents to the socially unruly and homosexuals.

So you’ve finished “A Family Tradition” – the concluding episode of Netflix’s global blockbuster series Money Heist. It’s like finally getting off the wildest rollercoaster ride ever, right? So many twists and turns, so many powerful scenes that put our hearts in our throats, so many feels…and now it’s over.
From the very start, no one knew where this show was going to go. The original Spanish TV series La Casa de Papel (The House of Paper) would have disappeared into obscurity when it was cancelled had not Netflix picked it up. But there, the gang stole the hearts of the world, was one of Netflix’s most popular foreign language titles, and became an international symbol for resistance movements. The rallying cries of the Italian anti-fascist song “Bella ciao” from The Professor’s (Álvaro Morte) gang of endearing city-named criminals will soon no longer be heard from the halls of the Bank of Spain. Álex Pina’s “Money Heist,” also known as “La Casa de Papel,” one of Netflix’s most-streamed Spanish-language shows, will reach its conclusion in two parts by the end of this year.
But while the series will come to an end, “it isn’t the end of the robbery at the Bank of Spain,” executive producer and director Jesús Colmenar said during the Television Critics Assn. press tour panel for the show on Aug. 19.
Colmenar, who was joined by Morte and Úrsula Corberó, discussed the “biggest and most thrilling” season, with Colmenar noting, “We have put the final stops in there.”
One important stop came in the fourth season, when fan-favorite character Nairobi (Alba Flores) was killed off.

In the trailer, which you can watch below, Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) describes the 100 hours they have spent shut in the Bank of Spain as feeling like 100 years. It’s been known for months that Part Five of Netflix’s most popular non-English language Original Series “La Casa de Papel” (“Money Heist”) would be the show’s last, and now we know when the iconic Spanish heist story will end. Broken into two parts, “Money Heist” Part Five, Volume 1 will launch worldwide on Sept. 3, with Volume 2 landing three months later on Dec. 3. Each part will include five episodes, filling out a ten-hour arc to end the series’ story as told by its narrator and protagonist Tokyo.
“When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself,” said series creator Álex Pina. “We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre,...

The Spanish action thriller Below Zero (Bajocero in Spanish) is an old-school, uncomplicated mix of suspense and violence that avoids too much focus on details or subtexts. The idea works in a way. You get taut drama that runs for little over a hundred minutes, mostly sticking to the singular intent of delivering thrills.
The tension starts pretty much with scene one, even as the opening credits begin. A man whose face we do not see is chasing a heavily wounded youngster down nowhere in dead of the night. The victim has clearly been tortured and can't walk straight, the attacker wants information on the whereabouts of someone he simply refers to as "she". The bloodied youngster insists he has no clue.
The sequence ends on an ominous, if predictable, note, laying backdrop for the film's story to take off.
Quite simply, it isn't much of a story. It doesn't...

"You did something, and we're not going to pay for it." Netflix has revealed an official US trailer for Below Zero, an action thriller from Catalonian filmmaker Lluís Quílez (Out of the Dark). In the middle of a foggy, cold night, a prison van carrying convicts is assaulted. The driver, Martin, will need to defend himself from those inside and those outside if he wants to make it out alive. This reminded me of Con Air at first glance, but with a big prison bus driving through winter in Spain. The film's cast includes Javier Gutiérrez, Àlex Monner, Patrick Criado, Édgar Vittorino, Karra Elejalde, Florin Opritescu, Luis Callejo, and Isak Férriz. This actually looks like an intense, chilly thriller to enjoy at home this winter. Fire it up below. Here's the official trailer (+ two Spanish posters) for Lluís Quílez's Below Zero, direct from YouTube: On a lonely road, a prison transport is brutally assaulted.

Shooting is set to begin soon in Spain, Denmark and Portugal, with actors Miguel Ángel Silvestre, a Netflix alum of “Narcos” and “Sense8,” and Patrick Criado, most recently in Movistar Plus’ most-viewed original series “The Invisible Line,” joining the established and now iconic cast featuring Úrsula Coberó (Tokyo), Álvaro Morte (The Professor) , Itziar Ituño (Lisbon) and Pedro Alonso (Berlin) among others.
“We’ve spent almost a year thinking about how to break up the band,” said creator and showrunner Alex Pina. “How to put the Professor on the ropes. How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of ‘La Casa de Papel.’ The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels,...

Mariano Barroso avails himself of a cast of first-rate actors, toplined by Antonio de la Torre and Álex Monner, and a somewhat classical narrative as he recreates the origins of Eta. The date was set for this Wednesday, 8 April, at 10 pm: the team was to present the online premiere of La línea invisible (lit. “The Invisible Line”), each person from his or her own home, suitably dressed for the occasion. And so director Mariano Barroso and lead actors Àlex Monner, Antonio de la Torre, Anna Castillo, Asier Etxeandia, Patrick Criado and Enric Auquer introduced the first two episodes of this series, which is free to air and to view (via the Movistar + YouTube channel), and which describes, from a simultaneously historical and personal perspective, how the terrorist group Eta came into being. This was an entity that left mortal victims strewn not only across the Basque Country,...
Raúl Arévalo, Alex García, Patrick Criado and Vicky Luengo star in this crime series, which the director of Madre and The Realm has just finished shooting in squares, patios and avenues around Madrid. Actor-director Raúl Arévalo (The Fury of a Patient Man) and filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen (who was nominated for an Oscar for his short Madre) worked together, on both sides of the camera, back in 2008, during the shoot for 8 Dates, the latter’s feature debut, which he co-directed with Peris Romano. Since then, they have remained firm friends and have been eager to work together again. An occasion to do just that has now presented itself in the form of the series Antidisturbios, (lit. “Antiriot Squad”), which the man behind The Realm has been shooting since early September 2019 in the streets of the Spanish capital. Accompanying Arévalo in the cast are a host of other well-known faces,...
Madrid — Scheduled to bow in 2021, Movistar Plus’ Original Series “Antidisturbios,” from Spain’s Academy Award-nominated Rodrigo Sorogoyen, is shaping up as one of the flagship titles on the slate of Telefonica-owned Movistar Plus, Spain’s biggest pay TV player, as well as proving indicative of deeper industry and artistic trends.
Co-written by Sorogoyen, Eduardo Villanueva and Isabel Peña – co-scribe of all Sorogoyen’s features and arguably one of the most overlooked female talents in Spain – and unveiled via a Madrid press set-visit last week, “Antidisturbios” begins focusing squarely on six members of Furgón 93, part of Spain’s Police Intervention Unit, its National Police Corps riot police. The squad is drafted in to carry out an eviction in the heart of a Senegalese community in Madrid. Captured in Ep. 1, their operation, however, goes drastically awry.
