The annual Women in Film (Wif) Honors have unveiled its 2023 recipients.
This year’s awards, which celebrate the 50th anniversary of the organization, will honor “Flamin’ Hot” producers Eva Longoria and Linda Yvette Chávez with the Crystal Award for Advocacy, as well as “Past Lives” filmmaker Celine Song and actress Greta Lee. The coveted Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award will go to “Barbie” actress America Ferrera, with Fonda presenting the award in-person.

Utopia has picked up North American rights to “Freakscene: The Story of Dinosaur Jr.,” the feature docu that looks at the legacy of the influential 1990s band. A one-night only special theatrical release is set for May 31 ahead of a June 3 digital release.

American Cinematheque chairman Rick Nicita said Monday that producer Stephanie Allain, WME partner Esther Chang and Black List founder Franklin Leonard will serve as new board members at the organization. The AC also said that Ken Scherer, who had been a consultant to the board during the sale of the Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theater to Netflix, has been named executive director.

Women in Film, Los Angeles, have announced four of the five women who will be honored at the newly renamed gala in June.
Formerly named the Crystal + Lucy Awards, the Women in Film Gala will award Amy Poehler, Issa Rae, Elizabeth Debicki and Cathy Schulman for their groundbreaking achievements in the entertainment industry that have opened up more opportunities for women. The ceremony will be held at June 12 at the Beverly Hilton.
Poehler will be given the Entrepreneur in Entertainment Award; Rae the Emerging Entrepreneur Award; Debicki the Max Mara Face of the Future Award; and Schulman the Crystal Award for Advocacy in Entertainment.

Women In Film, Los Angeles announced today that they have elected five new members to its Board of Directors. Syrinthia Studer, Andrea Nelson Meigs, Talitha Watkins, Vanessa Morrison and Tracy McGrath have joined the board of industry leaders who represent diverse aspects of the screen industries.
“The 2019 Board of Directors will bring valuable guidance to our organization’s programming and advocacy work,” said Wif Executive Director Kirsten Schaffer. “They share our commitment to the mission of enacting change to make the entertainment industry equitable for all women, in front of and behind the camera.”
Board President Amy Baer added, “With the election of these new members, the Board gains the invaluable expertise of five of our esteemed colleagues in the screen industries. Each has established herself as an influential figure in our industry, leading to an improved and expanded definition of how women are represented on-screen, off-screen, and in positions of corporate leadership.
