This post contains spoilers for "Barry" season 4, up to episode 6.
"Barry" season 4's big time jump has been transformative for a lot of characters, but perhaps none more so than The Raven -- or, as he used to be known, Monroe Fuches. Stephen Root's character has been through the wringer, from getting his teeth filed down to fending off a feral child, but his stoicism in the face of relentless prison beatings has now earned him something he's long been lacking: respect.
There are just two episodes left of the series now. According to Bill Hader, he and fellow co-creator Alex Berg made the decision to end with season 4 because "a very clear ending presented itself." Things have already taken an unexpected turn with the time jump, and Root said that he and the show's other actors wanted to be surprised as much as possible during filming.

In a major Golden Globes snub, the BBC and HBO’s acclaimed series I May Destroy You has failed to earn a single nomination.
Michaela Coel’s blisteringly authentic British drama was a contender to perform well at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gongs, but voters evidently felt otherwise.
There was no recognition in the limited series category, which featured a number of international series, including BBC/Hulu drama Normal People and Netflix’s Unorthodox.
I May Destroy You was also shut out of the acting gongs, where Coel’s British peers featured heavily, not least Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) and The Crown stars Gillian Anderson and Helena Bonham Carter.
The snub surprised some, who reacted to the news on Twitter:
Every single conversation I've had with people in television over the last 10 or so months has included everyone gushing about, citing, or being influenced by I May Destroy You.

“Access Hollywood” host Mario Lopez walked back comments he made regarding parents of transgender children, where he said it’s “dangerous as a parent” to allow young children to choose their own gender.
“The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were,” Lopez said in a statement. “I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the Lgbtq community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself. Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful.”
On Wednesday, a month-old appearance Lopez made on Candace Owens’ PragerU show surfaced on the internet. During the 40-minute interview on “The Candace Owens Show” on June 23, which you can view above, the right-wing host brought up the “weird” Hollywood trend of stars like Charlize Theron saying their children are “picking their gender.”

Three episodes into the second season of “Vida,” there’s a wedding so gloriously and specifically queer that I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. After watching countless couples walk down the aisle onscreen before, Starz’s “Vida” takes care to show a ceremony quite unlike any other, featuring drag queens, a pair of Latinx grooms in bedazzled cowboy hats, and enough undercuts to make a Sleater Kinney crowd blush. And yet, perhaps the most unique aspect of the wedding comes during the reception at a moment when the guests are just giddy (and tipsy) enough to relax into freewheeling conversations about their own histories, sexualities, and eventually, prejudices.
Emma (Mishel Prada) is a queer woman who prefers to keep her private life as private as possible and is as nonchalant about her sexuality as she is confident in it. So when a couple guests assume she’s a “baby...

Although its ratings last year weren't anything to write home about, the Barry TV show ranked in the middle of the pack among scripted HBO TV series, and certainly did better than a lot of the cable network's comedies, so it makes sense that it got a renewal. Now that it is back for a second season, can it bring in some more viewers, or is this as good as it gets. Will Barry be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
From creators Hader and Alex Berg, Barry centers on Barry Berkman (Hader), a Midwestern hitman. The HBO sitcom also stars Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, and Henry Winkler. After Barry travels to La and takes an acting class with Gene Cousineau (Winkler), he falls in love with the craft and wants to change careers. In season two,...

Every year, the Emmy nominations that inevitably earn the most interest are the leading actor and actress categories and the top prizes of comedy and drama series. Every year, it’s a shame that so much attention is paid to so few people overall, given that there are dozens of categories honoring so many different kinds of expertise. From writing to directing, costuming to casting, editing to title design, the Emmys honor an incredible breadth of creative work in the entertainment industry that deserves more recognition than even their nominations tend to get.
Take the writing categories: Though the Emmys often gets stuck in a pattern of nominating the same shows year in and year out, there are usually at least a few new and deserving writers that find a way in. This year, the drama writing category is almost identical to 2017’s with the exception of Phoebe Waller-Bridge landing...

Aside from IFC's Documentary Now!, since leaving Saturday Night Live in 2013, Bill Hader has mostly stuck to voice work and film. Now he's back with the first season of the Barry TV show on HBO. Is this dark comedy the right vehicle to showcase his talents and keep him as a series regular? Will Barry be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. From creators Hader and Alex Berg, Barry centers on Barry Berkman (Hader), a Midwestern hitman. The HBO sitcom also stars Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, Anthony Carrigan, and Henry Winkler. When his handler, Fuches (Root), loans him to Goran Pazar (Fleshler), of the Chechen mob, Barry travels to Los Angeles. There, he follows his target to Gene Cousineau’s (Winkler) acting class, and soon falls in love with the community and the idea of a whole new life. **Status...

Title: Hell Baby Directors: Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon Starring: Rob Corddry, Leslie Bibb, Keegan Michael Key, Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer, Riki Lindhome, Michael Ian Black, Alex Berg A disappointingly scattershot, sigh-inducing comedy from the creators of “Reno 911!,” Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, “Hell Baby” represents a slog through improvisation run amok. A horror comedy that doesn’t make hay out of lampooning the genre (which is totally fine), Garant and Lennon’s joint feature directorial debut seems downright allergic toward anything that might be construed as a legitimate throughline, lest that somehow be interpreted as “selling out,” and not subversive enough. Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon are perhaps best known to the public as Deputy Travis Junior (Garant) and Lieutenant Jim Dangle (Lennon) from the comedy series Reno 911! (2003-2009). But they’ve also been working steadily behind the camera as writers, having written numerous big budget screenplays including Night at the Museum and Balls of Fury (they also created Reno 911!). Altogether, their films have earned an impressive $1.4 at the box office. They have also written about this, and other accomplishments in their 2011 book Writing Movies for Fun and Profit: How We Made a Billion Dollars at the Box Office and You Can Too! It was inevitable then that they would want to try their hand at directing a film together. The result is the new horror comedy Hell Baby.

When you write about movies, it’s important to take every film very, very, very seriously — even if it’s a horror-comedy called Hell Baby.
We had hoped to have an honest, thoughtful discussion with the cast and filmmakers from this Sundance midnight movie, but not every interview goes as expected, and this one turned out to be a frustrating experience for everyone involved.
That was mainly due to to the sneering, combative behavior of Rob Corddry, who co-stars in Hell Baby with Leslie Bibb as expectant parents who battle demonic possession when they move into a haunted house during their pregnancy.
