Scream queen DeeDee Bigelow - whose credits include Machete Betty, Violent Blue and upcoming movies Legend of the Red Reaper, Spreading Darkness, The Road Killer and Scarlet Samurai: Incarnation - has netted a new role and a change of genre.
DeeDee will appear in Animal Planet's adventure show Hillbilly Handfishin' on August 30.
On the show, she will compete with several others in the sport of noodling, which is catching catfish using only the bare hands and feet.
Bigelow will appear in Season 2 of the show, in the episode Luck of the Irish.
This episode features three pairs of people, from different walks of life, who take a shot at fishing in the Red River of Oklahoma. Bigelow is no stranger to physical roles, but the catfish in this river bite back.
Two early stills have been released from this episode. The first shows Bigelow behind the scenes in makeup.

Actress DeeDee Bigelow ("Machete Betty") will appear with Jillie Reil ("Maniac Attack") on the August 30th episode, titled "Luck of the Irish." This show involves wrestling catfish from Oklahoma's Red River. Several other contestants will try their hand at this sport. An Irish couple will try their wit against this wily fish. As well, two Savannah pub owners will give the sport a try. Fans of horror might recognize Bigelow's name from her previous films. Bigelow recently starred in Chris Staviski's horror film Pain is Beautiful. She also starred in 2011's "Machete Betty," a short horror comedy. Now, fans of Bigelow can see her in a different genre, in just a week. More show details are below. Air Date: 6:00pm (Pst), 9:00pm (Est) August 30th, 2013 (Animal Planet). It's the reign of the robots on screen, even though Spielberg's Robopocalypse went back to the drawing board for a total rethink.
Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim will show pilot-operated machines tackling an invasion of giant monsters, another Transformers is on the way and the next X-Men film is an exciting time-travel tale that will see mutant-hunting Sentinels targeting the team.
Continuing the trend but on a much smaller scale is Robot & Frank, which will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on March 8, 2013.
An official UK poster was recently unveiled for the movie, which is directed by Jake Schreier and stars Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Liv Tyler, with Robot voiced by Peter Sarsgaard.
Robot & Frank is a buddy caper. Set in the near future, ageing curmudgeon and retired jewel thief Frank (Frank Langella) lives a solitary life until his son (James Marsden) installs a caretaker robot,...

This has not been a good year for Los Angelino/extraterrestrial relations. First there was Battle: Los Angeles. Then The Asylum’s Battle of Los Angeles. Now there’s Alien Armageddon, which, not surprisingly, was originally titled Battleground Los Angeles.
On the same day that Cowboys & Aliens limps onto store shelves, another alien invasion movie featuring a cowboy battling aliens (judging by the cover art) will be touching down on DVD and Blu-ray via Phase 4 Films.
Starring Rochelle Vallese, Katharine MeEwan, Claudia Wells, Don Scribner, Marilyn Ghigliotti and DeeDee Bigelow, with a cameo by Virginia Hey, filmmaker Neil Johnson’s Alien Armageddon is an impressive looking low budget alien invasion effort about humanity’s last stand in the last remaining city on Earth – Los Angeles.
Have a look at the trailer. Seriously, have a look at it. Really damn impressive for low budget sci-fi movie.

It was a little over a year ago that we first heard about Dennis Willman's new comic series Ginger-Stein: Rise of the Undead, and now that the first issue is about to launch on Tuesday, October 11th, we have a lot more details and an image gallery to share.
From the Press Release:
On October 11th artistic mastermind Dennis Willman reveals his newest creation, Ginger-Stein, to the world. Ginger-Stein is the title of a multimedia horror/sci-fi project that is written, created, and illustrated by Willman and is unlike anything the horror audience has ever seen.
Ginger-Stein: Rise of the Undead is the first in a set of six comic book mini-series featuring horror’s hottest new heroine. The story and artwork are deeply rooted in 1980’s horror and sci-fi nostalgia. The violence is over-the-top, and like any good 80’s horror story, there’s sex, drugs, and a breaking of...

A New horror sci-fi comic called Ginger-Stein: Rise of the Undead is to be launched at the Rock and Shock Convention held in Worcester, Massachusetts, from October 14 to 16.
The series centres on a B-Movie scream queen who is transformed into the zombie-slaying character she portrays on screen.
She discovers the phenomenon that caused her transformation has also reanimated the dead. As an army of zombies begins to walk the Earth, Ginger must rely on her wits and weapons to save the world.
The book - created by artist Dennis Willman, Jeff Hughes of Comic Book Divas, and Iron Dead Studios - is a love letter to 80s horror and was largely inspired by the George Romero zombie movies, The Evil Dead trilogy and the Phantasm franchise. A film adaptation of the comic is in development.

Actress and producer DeeDee Bigelow is set to portray "Diana Diablo" for the horror/sci-fi comic book Ginger Stein: Rise of the Undead by artist Dennis Willman, Jeff Hughes of Comic Book Divas and Iron Dead Studios. Ginger Stein is the story of an ordinary woman called upon to become extraordinary as the world falls victim to a zombie apocalypse. The concept of Ginger Stein is really a simple love letter to everything that makes the horror and sci-fi genres great, in particular the 1980.s. Here is another entry into the alien invasion film genre with Alien Armageddon. This film follows Neil Johnson's previous film titled Nephilim (2007). This title recently had a World Premiere through video-on-demand August 1st. Phase 4 Films released this title and this reviewer wishes they had not. Perhaps the low production values did not deliver the film's message adequately. However, one message is clear to this film reviewer: Alien Armageddon is a really poor executed film. This film is one half prison drama and one half sci-fi melodrama. Neither of these genres really create much enthusiasm over here at 28Dla. So, in the end, Alien Armageddon introduces a new alien species with some weak acting, poorly dressed sets and an Anglo-Norma plotline that has been done better,...

There is another alien invasion film set in Los Angeles, which is set for a theatrical release July 6th. The title is Alien Armageddon and the synopsis sounds strangely like Battle: Los Angeles and also The Asylum's knock-off Battle of Los Angeles. Skyline could also be lumped in with these films and this reviewer is starting to get the sense that certain Los Angeles filmmakers want the City of Angels to burn to the ground. With the financial setbacks for S.E.T.I. (Search for Extraterrestrial Life), director Neil Johnson will have to wait a little longer for Los Angeles to crumble and burn under alien attack. For now, sci-fi fans with similar interests to Johnson, can have their wish fulfillment somewhat satisfied by visiting the Crest Theatre in Westwood July 6th, to watch Alien Armageddon on the big screen!

Director Josh Eisenstadt (Dark Reel) firmly states that this film is not a horror film and instead Spreading Darkness is more psychological thriller. The first teaser does show one man, Stu (Eric Roberts), under some distress, while he talks about being followed, or stalked to another character, Mark (James Duval). His torment is heightened as his dead wife (Tara Cardinal) beckons him from the grave. Have a look at the first clip for this film below, with more details to follow.
The synopsis for the film, courtesy of the Coventry Telegraph:
"Spreading Darkness is a dark psychological thriller about Stu Undercoffler (Roberts), a man who seems to have it all. That is, until the people he took it from decide they want it back. Stu seems to have it under control, but then visions of his dead wife (Cardinal) become more and more real" (Coventry).
Release Date: 2011.
Director: Josh Eisenstadt.

Brian S- Hi Melanie, so how'd you get into acting?
Melanie- When I was very young we discovered that I was able to memorize movie dialogs by listening, and then I would do one man shows. Complete with voice and expression changes. I remember my sisters and I would reenact the songs in Annie.

Actress and model Melanie Robel is a self-described, modern day gypsy. Her affinity for travel has served her well, allowing her to take advantage of acting roles where ever the opportunity arises. What kind of roles? She’s played a post-apocalyptic assassin, a monster in a bikini, and an even worse kind of monster: a bitchy, wannabe model!
One thing Melanie doesn’t play at though is her career. She’s not afraid to try challenging new roles. That’s how this young actress has amassed an impressive list of credits in just a few short years! Melanie took a short break from her work to talk to B Movie Man Nic Brown about making movies, her secret vice, and why we might think she’s nerdy, but dedicated to the art of acting!

The film was followed by a Q&A and was well received by the audience. The film actually won the top prize of the festival, a well done film noir with a dash of Sci-Fi.
