"We make the rules now, all four of us. We'll be a family of 'Mountain Men' in no time." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie off-the-grid thriller titled Manifest West, from filmmaker duo Joe Dietsch & Louie Gibson. The film is intriguing coming-of-age story told through the eyes of a young girl whose family spirals out of control after they decide to live off the grid. It had its world premiere at the Mammoth Film Festival, where it won Best Genre Film, earlier this year. The film stars Annet Mahendru, Milo Gibson, Lexy Kolker, Michael Cudlitz, and the comedian Tim Heidecker (giving a very serious performance this time). This starts out so nice and uplifting, the story of a family trying to make a life on their own in the woods - reminds me of Captain Fantastic. But then things quickly get intense and twisted and dark,...

Manifest West Trailer: Tim Heidecker Is Continuing To Broaden His Horizons With The Serious Thriller
As wonderful as the advancements in technology have been for a multitude of reasons, the inability to ever truly go off the grid often leaves lingering existential and downright dystopian feelings. The newest film from Samuel Goldwyn Films, "Manifest West" sees a family attempt to leave the world behind, becoming self-sufficient and living off of the land. Unfortunately, this isn't the age of manifest destiny and the problems that existed before don't magically wash away with a change of zip code and a refusal to send children to public schools. The coming-of-age film from Joe Dietsch and Louie Gibson centers on a family that grows increasingly violent after moving into the wilderness, told from the perspective of a young girl watching her family fall apart through her very eyes.

Exclusive: Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired North American rights to the drama Manifest West, starring Lexy Kolker (Shooter), Annet Mahendru (Father Stu), Milo Gibson (Under the Stadium Lights), Tim Heidecker (Spin Me Round) and Michael Cudlitz (Clarice), slating it for release in theaters and on digital platforms this fall.
The film from writer-directors Joe Dietsch and Louie Gibson (Happy Hunting) is a coming-of-age story, told through the eyes of a 10-year old girl whose family moves off the grid into untamed North American Wilderness. It’s their attempt to establish normalcy, to thrive off the land, and escape the pressures of modern society. But the family has its own internal pressures building, and you can’t escape what’s going on in your own household, no matter how far you move up a mountain.

A nasty little piece of work that surprises with both its topicality and incisiveness, Happy Hunting unfailingly reminds us about the social problems we try to ignore that just won’t go away. Violent crime, drug trafficking, addiction and homelessness are just a few of the issues that loom large in Joe Dietsch and Louie Gibson’s crafty debut feature, but perhaps most surprisingly, this turns out to be a darkly satiric thriller rather than a boring, moralizing drama. Without much marketing muscle, it’s not likely to be widely seen in theaters, but a broader audience surely awaits on streaming platforms.

Tagline: "Run for Your Life." A trailer for the thriller Happy Hunting came out this week. The film takes place in Bedford Flats. Here, vagrants and drifters are rounded up, for a chase in the desert. Happy Hunting was developed by directors Joe Dietsch and Louie Gibson. Somewhat reminiscent of 1991's Surviving the Game, with Ice-t, this latest film is set to release late in September. The film has already shown at a couple of film festivals, including Glasgow's Fright Fest. Now, a preview for the film's theatrical launch is hosted here. The trailer shows Warren (Martin Dingle Wall) alone in Bedford. He is captured and driven out into the desert. Here, he is grouped with a few other people. Meanwhile, a squad of human hunters are getting ready for murder. And with nowhere to hide in the desert, it is unlikely that anyone will survive. Vertical Entertainment is handling the film's launch.

"The rules are simple: you run, we hunt you!" Vertical Ent. has debuted an official trailer for an indie action horror titled Happy Hunting, which is basically a brand new take on "The Most Dangerous Game". The description only explains that an alcoholic drifter becomes the target of a "deranged sporting event" but it's clear from the title and the trailer that it's obviously about a bunch of rednecks hunting people in a desert town. The film stars Martin Dingle Wall, Ken Lally, and Kenny Wormald. There's a few cool shots in this trailer, mainly the silhouette shots. Other than that, I'm not sure if this going to be entertaining or just sickening to watch. This footage makes it seem like the latter. If any of this interests you, then check it out. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Joe Dietsch & Louie Gibson's Happy Hunting, from YouTube: An alcoholic...

Unfortunately for him the town’s pastime is rounding up drifters and hunting them as part of an elaborate sporting event.
