Now that Dunst is no longer Mary Jane, we examine her film future.

Monday's announcement that "Spider-Man 4" was as dead as the Green Goblin reportedly came as a shock not only to fans, but also to the series' stars, who were at least entertaining the possibility of returning. Few, however, have had as much riding on the sequel as Kirsten Dunst.
Undoubtedly the most divisive of the series' leads (whereas you'd have a hard time finding any Spidey fans who hate on Tobey Maguire or James Franco), it's been a long time since Dunst has had a hit. Aside from the little-seen "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People," Dunst's last non-Spidey films were the back-to-back-to-back duds "Elizabethtown," "Wimbledon" and "Marie Antoinette" nearly a half-decade ago.
Something tells us that Kirsten might have a few bucks in the bank, and...

Last year's talent pool included Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego, whose El rey de la montana (The King of the Hill) grabbed the spotlight at Tiff, and now it has translated into a deal that will see the helmer direct Paramount Vantage's latest project part of a new direction for the indie label. The Hollywood reporter reports that Lopez-Gallego is attached to direct A Jealous Ghost -- a pic that Kirsten Dunst woudl topline. Dunst is producing along with Ben Forkner, Eric Kranzler and Daniel Rappaport of Film 360. Ghost is based on A.N. Wilson's novel and scripted by Megan Holley, Wilson's 2005 novel describes

A director is now on board for the adaptation of A.N. Wilson’s novel A Jealous Ghost, which Kirsten Dunst is producing and will star in. THR reports that King of the Hill director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego is now the man calling the shots on the film.
A Jealous Ghost tells of an American girl who travels to London to write a dissertation on Henry James’ classic ghost story Turn of the Screw. The longer she studies the work and the more strange things happen to her, she begins to realize that events in her own life are reflecting the occurrences in James’ tale.
Paramount Vantage is producing the project, which may become a priority now that Vantage is looking to reshape its image into something viable after being rolled into Paramount proper back in July. It sounds like it could easily roll before the end of the year; keep it...

Wilson's 2005 novel describes a young American woman who travels to London to write a dissertation on Henry James' classic ghost tale, "The Turn of the Screw," only to find that her own circumstances begin to reflect the strange happenings of the story.
This literary horror project could be a priority for the newly reconstituted Vantage, which is looking to reshape its image.
