Krishna D.K. and Raj Nidimoru, the creators of Amazon Prime Video’s Indian original series The Family Man, have backed the show after the regional Tamil Nadu government called for it to be banned.
Federal government minister Prakash Javadekar, whose responsibilities include information and broadcasting, was contacted by local authority representative Vaiko after a new trailer was released for the Hindi-language show on May 19, ahead of the second season launch on the platform on June 4.
The letter of complaint claimed that the trailer depicted Tamil people “as terrorists” and that its content had “hurt the sentiments of Tamil people and Tamil culture and [are] offensive against the Tamil community”.
“It is urged that the Ministry should take immediate action to stop the release of The Family Man 2 in Ott, Amazon… otherwise, the people of Tamil Nadu will react very seriously and the government has to face the serious consequences,” it continued.

Indian cinema superstar Rajinikanth, 70, will be the 2021 recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke award, India’s highest film honor.

Cinema halls have received the green signal to operate with 100 per cent occupancy. It is positive news for the theatre owners, but not so for the box office just yet.
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Sunday allowed theatres to be operate with full capacity from February 1, except in containment zones, while adhering to health safety protocols. However, despite the call, the film trade could be months away from good business. Without big releases and a psychological block over Covid still looming in the minds of many, the audience is not interested in returning to theatres right away, irrespective of whether occupancy rules allow 50 or 100 per cent.
"It was long awaited. After the central government, we await go ahead by the state government. But it is a big breather for the exhibition industry. Now, we hope that the state governments are also proactive in giving us the permission," trade expert Girish Johar said.

The director, who is President of the Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India (Ftii) Society, and Chairman of the institute's governing council, is going to try and rectify the situation.

Mumbai, Oct 9 (Ians) The Ishaan Khatter-Ananya Pandey action drama, Khaali Peeli, recently launched on Ott, and the makers have now decided to release the film theatrically after cinemas open on October 15.
This was confirmed by trade analyst Komal Nahta on Friday. Nahta tweeted that the Hindi film "Khaali Peeli" and the Tamil film "Ka Pae Ranasingam" would released in theatres on October 16.
"Breaking news: KhaaliPeeli and Tamil KaaPaeRanasingam to be released theatrically on Friday, 16th October. While most multiplex chains have responded favourably to Zee Studios' move, a couple of them which are sitting on the fence, are also expected to come around," Nahta wrote on the microblogging site.

The 51st Edition of the International Film Festival of India, scheduled to be held at Goa from Nov. 20-28, 2020, has been postponed to Jan. 16-24, 2021.
India’s minister of information & broadcasting Prakash Javadekar discussed the matter with Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant. Together they arrived at the postponement decision.
Like many festivals around the world these days, the festival will take place as a hybrid combining in person and virtual.

Then you succumb to it and begin to acknowledge its presence and worth and its delivery," he wrote.
