The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always given us big bad villains who know how to put our beloved Avengers in the worst possible situations. While we have come to love some of them like Loki, it’s a little too difficult to do so with others like Thanos. And now, a report suggests that Dwayne Johnson could be taking on the responsibility for playing the MCU’s next big bad.
Dwayne Johnson in Red Notice (2021) | Seven Bucks Productions
We all had a lot of expectations with Kang the Conqueror but how things played out in Ant-Man 3 and everything regarding Jonathan Majors’ personal life seems to have dulled out our hopes. The villain Dwayne Johnson is rumored to be playing just might be what the MCU needs but not everyone is happy with the potential casting.

The 2019 release ‘Shazam!’ garnered acclaim for its upbeat approach to the superhero genre, centering around the character of the same name. Zachary Levi portrayed the adult Shazam, while Asher Angel depicted the teenage Billy Batson.
Recently, Asher hinted at plans for a third movie, but with the underperformance of ‘Shazam! 2’ and the overhaul of the Dceu into the newly minted Dcu, the future is uncertain.
It appears that Asher has landed a different role altogether in this fresh cinematic universe, as the actor recently shared a Nightwing gif on his social media. Additionally, James Gunn has hinted at the inclusion of this superhero in his upcoming franchise, with Asher often being suggested by fans for the role.

‘Shazam!’ released in 2019 was a highly praised lighthearted movie focusing on a superhero of the same name. While the grown-up version of Shazam was played by Zachary Levi, the teenage version of Billy Batson was played by Asher Angel.
Asher recently commented how the third movie was in the plans before ‘Shazam! 2’ has flopped and Dceu was revamped into the newly established Dcu.
Now it seems that Asher has scored something else entirely, within this new cinematic universe as the actor recently published a Nightwing gif on his social media. As remained, James Gunn recently also teased the superhero within his new franchise, and Asher himself is a frequent fan-cast for the role.

We don’t know whether Nightwing is planned to be included in the upcoming live-action ‘Teen Titans’ movie or whether he will be making an appearance sooner than we think.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has proved his prowess as one of the greatest The Walking Dead villains albeit turning into a soft character in the later seasons and his own solo spin-off venture with Lauren Cohan’s The Walking Dead: Dead City at AMC. But the actor is now aiming for a big DC role, one that even Jason Momoa is vying for.

Momoa, who played Aquaman in the Dceu, has set his eyes on a potential movie based on the interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter, Lobo. And with recent comments from Morgan, he would very much like to play the same character as well. However, there might be one problem that would prevent him from playing the role.

The first full-length trailer for Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part Three has just hit (via Toonado.com), and it teases what looks to be a high-stakes finale to this animated trilogy (and the Tomorrowverse as we know it).
With the Anti-Monitor on the loose, a whole host of heroes assemble to save the Multiverse, but it looks like that will be easier said than done when they also have Lex Luthor to contend with. Several other villains are also spotted, including The Joker, Scarecrow, and Two-Face.
In terms of cameos, the trailer ends with another Batman: The Animated Series tease. Batman Beyond also appears, but perhaps the biggest surprise comes when we return to the world of the Super Friends!

Stan Lee’s favorite DC character could find a place in James Gunn’s Dcu if one director were to helm the film. In the earlier Dceu, reports suggested that Michael Bay was attached to direct a movie featuring the character Lobo. The Transformers director has a knack for creating movies that gamble with absurd characters and produce amazing results. He might be the right fit to handle this character of an intergalactic bounty hunter.

Interestingly, Jason Momoa pitched a solo Lobo film to Gunn during the promotion for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Momoa became a fan of the minor Superman villain of the ’80s who became popular in the ’90s as a parody of grim and gritty characters who defined comics in that decade.

Lobo is an iconic DC character fans have been waiting eagerly for to make the jump into the live-action world. However, for years, the character has been waiting for his big break. Although Jason Momoa is now generating all the hype he can and advocating for a Lobo movie, Guy Ritchie was set to helm one back in 2010 but ultimately shelved the project in favor of directing Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Jason Momoa belongs to a small group of absolutely massive actors who are also genuinely funny as hell, like John Cena and Alan Ritchson. In some of his best roles, Momoa can be charismatic and funny, but also intimidating and a strong physical presence on screen. It's why he works great in "The Bad Batch" and as Aquaman, why he stole every scene he's in as Duncan Idaho in "Dune," and why Dante Reyes is one of the best "Fast & Furious" villains ever.
And yet, this is Hollywood, so of course Momoa was mostly seen as just a big scary dude after his breakthrough role in "Game of Thrones." Sure, audiences love bad guys, but they don't necessarily root for them. So it came as a big surprise when, in 2014, Momoa was cast as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe.

DC and Marvel have given the world some of the greatest characters in pop culture: Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, and D-Man. So if the two companies were to put their heads together and come up with a character that they could share, that character would be the greatest comic creation of all time, right?
Well, if that’s what you think, then let me introduce you to Axel Asher, aka Access. And let me tell you right from the beginning, that he is not the greatest comic creation of all time.

Without a doubt, the role of Aquaman / Arthur Curry made actor Jason Momoa a household name around the world, however, the actor initially cringed when he found out he was playing the character. Even though Momoa thought that the character was silly, 2018’s Aquaman went on to become the highest-grossing film based on a DC Comics character with a box office collection of roughly $1.152 billion.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom Worldwide Box Office Updates! (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom was predicted to drown at the box office, but it proved otherwise. It looks like Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and the team’s charm from the original movie drew the audience to the theatres. Despite mixed reviews, Aquaman 2 is now Warner Bros’ fifth highest-grossing movie after the pandemic era. Scroll below for all the details!
Aquaman 2 stars Patrick Wilson in the lead alongside Jason Momoa. It narrates a tale of brotherhood, so Amber Heard, aka Mera, had to take a back seat. While the actress has claimed her role was significantly reduced amid the Johnny Depp legal row, director James Wan claims it was always the plan. Either way, there was much negativity ahead of release, but the Dceu film has managed to sail its boat.

Jason Momoa Takes An Alleged Dig At His Fast X & Aquaman 2 Franchise (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Jason Momoa has become a prominent name in Hollywood and has some big movies to his credit, like Fast X, Aquaman franchise, and Justice League; however, the actor seems dissatisfied as they don’t make it to the awards. Currently, Momoa’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom aka Aquaman 2, is running in the theatres and is doing comparatively well.
Momoa’s initial acting projects include Baywatch, and he rose to fame with Game of Thrones. He played the role of Khal Drogo, husband of Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke. However, he was allegedly out of work for some time and was starving. He was with Lisa Bonet at that time. Again, his appearance as Arthur Curry in Justice League gave him a new fan base. Her claims are now being confirmed by her on-screen father, Dolph Lundgren. Scroll below for the hot scoop!
For the unversed, Amber Heard claimed in the $50 million defamation trial that her role was diminished because of the negativity surrounding her battle against ex-husband Johnny Depp. James Wan later rubbished the claims and said the sequel was always supposed to narrate a tale of brotherhood. While Mera (Amber’s character) takes the backseat, Arthur Curry’s half-brother takes the lead alongside Aquaman to destroy the Black Manta.

The Dceu Ends With Anticlimactic ‘Aquaman 2’ Post-Credits Scene. What’s Next for Jason Momoa and DC?
Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers for “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” now playing in theaters.
After 10 years, 16 movies and some disappointing reviews and box office performances of late, the DC Extended Universe has officially come to an end with “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
Jason Momoa stars as Aquaman for the seventh time in his career, after two solo movies, a “Justice League” team-up and a handful of cameos. His first standalone movie, 2018’s “Aquaman,” defied expectations and ended up making $1.15 billion at the worldwide box office, the highest-grossing DC movie ever.
But this is likely Momoa’s final time suiting up as Aquaman. New DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are rebooting the DC universe with 2025’s “Superman: Legacy,” with plans to recast most of the major roles. There isn’t an “Aquaman” movie on the DC slate they’ve revealed so far, meaning “Lost Kingdom...

Quick, name a superhero with a more cynical perspective than Batman. Okay, sure there’s Spawn, but I meant in mainstream comics. Yeah, Punisher, but how about in DC Comics? Sure, there’s John Constantine. But I mean a character less suitable for Christmas stories. What’s that you say? Constantine once crushed the bones of St. Nicolas and snorted them into a powder? And Lobo murdered Santa?
Okay, the point is that Batman doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would make for a good Christmas story. Spider-Man can deliver presents while swinging across New York City and Superman has carried Santa’s slay more than once, but Mr. Vengeance doesn’t even like leaving Gotham. Why would he bother with the North Pole?
And yet, Batman has been at the center of several Christmas stories over the year, and some of them are pretty great. Here...

Similar to how Daniel Craig was vocal on his press tours for recent 007 films that No Time to Die was his swan song as James Bond, Jason Momoa has been casting great doubt that he’s coming back as the fishy superhero, Aquaman.
This comes ahead of the box office opening for Warner Bros/DC’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which isn’t expected to do well this weekend with a $40M domestic start over 4-days. The first Aquaman is the highest grossing DC movie of all-time at $1.1 billion, though that movie’s gross was greatly boosted by its play in China when the country embraced Hollywood tentpoles.
At a Monday fan event at The Grove in LA, Aquaman franchise director James Wan hailed Momoa saying “You will always be my Aquaman,” emphasizing that many will remember how the actor played the first iteration of the DC superhero.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters tomorrow, officially bringing an end to the Dceu. While Jason Momoa will be bidding farewell to Arthur Curry, he may not be done with the DC Universe entirely.
DC Studios co-ceo Peter Safran told The Independent that Jason Momoa will always have a home at DC. “What I hope is that people will really be here to support him on this journey,” Safran said. “If it’s the end of the journey, fine. If it goes on, that’s also fine, but I think it has meant so much to him. The way [director] James [Wan] crafted this second film, it feels like a very complete story when you watch the two films together. We’ll see what happens with him beyond it. I know that Jason will always have a home at DC, and at Warner Bros. In fact, his next movie is Minecraft.

Jason Momoa cast doubt on his future as Aquaman in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, and now DC Studios boss Peter Safran has weighed in by telling The Independent: “If it’s the end of the journey, fine. If it goes on, that’s also fine.”
Both Momoa and Safran are waiting to see how big of an audience “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” pulls in before definitively calling it the actor’s swan song as the superhero. The original “Aquaman” movie grossed $1 billion to become the highest grossing Dceu film. If the sequel reaches those heights it might warrant a third film, although box office tracking is not too spectacular heading into the film’s opening weekend.

No red carpet, no premiere, minimal press, the press tour for “Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom” is a rather sad ending to the DC Extended Universe [Dceu] first started by Zack Snyder with “Man Of Steel” in 2013. About 15 films in total, after many false starts and at least three studio regime changes in that time, all that continuity is being scrapped by what is now DC Studios, a new era of DC Films that is run by director James Gunn, producer Peter Safran and begins in summer 2025 with “Superman: Legacy.”

Jason Momoa Once Revealed How He Didn’t Want Lisa Bonet To See Game Of Thrones Because Of His Hot Scenes With Emilia Clarke(Photo Credit –IMDb)
Jason Momoa is back for his one last ride as Aquaman in the Dceu with his Aquaman 2, aka Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Before becoming the Arthur Curry of the old DC Universe, he was known for his role in the cult series Game of Thrones. Its popularity knew no bounds, and Momoa as Khal Drogo is hands down one of the most significant roles in his career. The series was iconic not only for its storyline but also for its graphic, intimate scenes, and Jason had a few of them with the lead actress Emilia Clarke. The actor, however, was not keen on his then-wife Lisa Bonet, watching those hot love-making scenes.
Jason and Lisa met each other in 2005 at a jazz club.

With the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom just days away, the superhero sequel isn’t looking to be swimming to any record numbers. And while Jason Momoa is now synonymous with the character, he expected his DC trajectory to be a bit different before he first appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. As it turns out, he thought he’d be cast as Lobo.
As Jason Momoa told Fandango (as per Cbr), “I originally thought I was going to be playing Lobo in the very beginning,” naming the Czarnian character first introduced in 1983. “I auditioned for Batman, and I almost didn’t do it, because I was like, ‘This is silly. It’s not going to be me. Why am I auditioning for Batman?’ But it was just a run of the mill audition, and then I get called in right after Affleck gets announced, and I’m like,...

With the Dceu coming to an end with “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” headliner Jason Momoa is looking ahead to the future of DC movies. But for those hoping he’ll play the intergalatic bounty hunter Lobo in James Gunn’s new shared universe, cool your space jets.
“I haven’t received that call” he says.
“I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a f–k yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there,” Momoa said in an interview with Fandango. Watch the video above embed.
Momoa reveals that the ruthless bounty hunter Lobo has always been one of his favorite characters that he has wanted to portray.

With the release of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” this week, Warner Bros. long, disappointing year of superhero films comes to a merciful end. No matter how well ‘Lost Kingdom’ does at the box office, the film marks the last of the pre-James Gunn/Peter Safran regime, and thus, closes the book on the Dceu. And with all of this being very public knowledge, ‘Aquaman’ star Jason Momoa has a really strange interview cycle to take part in.

‘Aquaman and the Last Kingdom’ hits theaters in less than a week, marking the final countdown for the Dceu. The first Aquaman film, thanks to Momoa’s stellar performance as the iconic aquatic superhero, was a massive success and among the highest-grossing in the Dceu.
Despite the anticipation, the box-office projections for the upcoming installment are less than promising. Fans worry that this might seal Aquaman’s fate in Gunn’s and Safran’s revamped Dcu.
In an exclusive interview with Et, Momoa shared his perspective. While he enjoyed playing the character, it seems unlikely that Aquaman will have a place in the new cinematic universe crafted by Safran and Gunn.

‘Aquaman and the Last Kingdom’ is releasing in less than a week, and with it, Dceu is counting down its last days. The first Aquaman movie was a major success and one of the highest-grossing movies in the Dceu, largely due to Momoa’s portrayal of the legendary aquatic superhero.
The box-office projections for the upcoming installment, however, don’t look good, and fans are afraid that those will be used to further cement the destiny of Aquaman in Gunn’s and Safran’s new Dcu.
And as it turns out, Momoa himself has an opinion on that in an exclusive interview with Et. Momoa said that he had a great time playing the character, but it doesn’t look like Aquaman will have a future in the new cinematic universe that Safran and Gunn are trying to set up.

Jason Momoa has admitted the future of Aquaman is "not looking too good".The 44-year-old actor reprises his role as Arthur Curry and his alter ego in the upcoming 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' and while he loves playing the character, he admitted it is unlikely he'll be playing the King of Atlantis again in the future. He told 'Entertainment Tonight': "I don’t necessarily want it to be the end... The release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a mere week away, which means that the DC Extended Universe will be coming to an end, but will it be the last time we see Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis?
Unfortunately, Jason Momoa seems to think so. Jason Momoa is no longer feeling too optimistic about playing Aquaman in the future. The actor is reprising his superhero role in Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” which might be Momoa’s swan song as the character on the big screen. Momoa was cast as Aquaman in the DC Universe, playing the character in “Justice League” and “Aquaman,” but the property is now being rebooted by new DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.
“I don’t necessarily want it to be the end… [but] I don’t think it’s really, like, a choice,” Momoa told Entertainment Tonight about his future as Aquaman.
Momoa noted that Gunn and Safran want “to start their own new thing up,” adding: “The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves [‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’], then there’s a possibility. But right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good.

Dceu is on its final stretch as the primary cinematic universe for DC comic characters. With ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ marking the end of an era, a new era led by Gunn and Safran is set to take the reins. While Dceu enjoyed success with films like ‘Wonder Woman,’ ‘Aquaman,’ and the first ‘Shazam,’ it struggled with sequels and maintaining a cohesive storyline.
Despite the unexpected success of ‘Shazam’ in 2019, its sequel became one of the lowest-grossing Dceu films. However, it wasn’t due to Zachary Levi’s performance, widely acclaimed as a perfect fit for Shazam. Under Gunn’s guidance, some familiar faces, like Jason Momoa, are making the transition to the new cinematic universe, with Momoa rumored to portray Lobo instead of Aquaman. Dceu is counting its last days as the prime cinematic universe of DC comic characters. With the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ that era will be over, and the new thing, under the leadership of Gunn and Safran, is taking over. Dceu had its good moments, ‘Wonder Woman,’ ‘Aquaman,’ and the first ‘Shazam’ were all box office successes, and the general public genuinely liked them. What Dceu never got right was sequels and the overall flow of the story.
‘Shazam’ released in 2019, was a hit out of nowhere. It was a B-list character brought to the big screen that almost nobody except for the fans of the comics has heard of. Sadly, the sequel will go down in notoriety as one of the lowest-grossing Dceu movies ever. It wasn’t because of Levi’s performance, however, as the general consensus was that the guy was born to play Shazam.

The cinematic DC Universe has always been pretty confusing, but it’s gotten even moreso in the past few months. James Gunn and producing partner Peter Safran oversee DC Studios and a new DC Universe, while the studio also continues to release DC superhero movies made by a previous regime. But let Jason Momoa, star of the upcoming “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” break things down for you.
Momoa was on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon and when Fallon asked if there would be a third film in the franchise, Momoa said: “This is kind of like the end of this DC Universe.” Watch below:
Of course, after Momoa said that, he said, “Unless… I mean things have happened before. If people like it…” before trailing off. He then transitioned to an impression of a lugubrious Warner Bros. exec as he said, “There will always be a place for me at DC.

The new DC Universe is further coming into focus as "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" has found its writer. The movie, which was announced earlier this year as part of the first wave of James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC reboot, is now set to be penned by actress and playwright Ana Nogueira. This makes it something of a full circle moment for Nogueira, as she had actually previously been attached to a different version of the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nogueira has been tapped to pen the new "Supergirl" movie, which is being described as a "standalone feature." No director is currently attached to the project, nor is there a star attached to the lead role. Sasha Calle played the part in this summer's "The Flash," but unfortunately, that movie was a major box office disappointment and it's highly unlikely that any of those characters will carry...

Richard Moll, the fun-loving actor who portrayed the towering and tenderhearted bailiff Aristotle Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon on all nine seasons of the popular NBC sitcom Night Court during its original run, has died. He was 80.
Moll died peacefully Thursday at his home in Big Bear Lake, California, his publicist announced.
Suitable for his 6-foot-8 frame, Moll played an abominable snowman alongside Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach in the comedy feature Caveman (1981), and he was a scary, decomposing Vietnam veteran in the horror film House (1986).
Moll also did lots of voiceover work, with a regular gig as the immortal bodyguard Norman on the syndicated series Mighty Max and turns as Harvey Dent/Two-Face for three Batman cartoons.
Moll had a shaved head — he did that to play the warrior Hurok in the sci-fi film Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn (1983) — when he auditioned for the role of Shannon on Night Court, created by Reinhold Weege.

Last week sadly and rather suddenly we lost the great Keith Giffen. There will only ever be one Keith Giffen. He was a creator who as writer and artist has left behind a legacy of amazing comics. He had runs on comics, that are legendary. Runs that inspired the next generation. Runs that reinvented the wheel. Runs that defined characters and still define them today across all media. Runs that included the creation of some of comics greatest and most loved characters. So as Keith pulls his chair up to the great drawing board in the sky we look back on the man behind this outstanding career.
I have to confess I haven’t really read much of Giffen’s work. It is a shame that his passing sees me wanting to rectify the situation. However it does speak volumes about the legacy of work he leaves behind, that I...

He also wrote acclaimed runs of “Justice League” and the “Legion of Super-Heroes,” as well as creating the cult fourth-wall-breaking character Ambush Bug (a decade earlier than Deadpool).
He died Sunday of a stroke, according to media reports (first reported by Bleeding Cool), but the news of his death wasn’t made public until Wednesday evening.

Keith Giffen, the veteran comics author and artist who co-created characters such as DC’s Lobo and the Jamie Reyes version of the Blue Beetle as well as Marvel’s Rocket Raccoon, has died. He was 70.
Giffen’s family announced his death on Facebook Wednesday via a sardonic post pre-written by the comic book writer-artist: “I told them I was sick…Anything not to go to New York Comic Con, Thankx,’ adding “Bwah ha ha ha ha.”
His death was affirmed by longtime collaborator Paul Levitz. “The sad news is now official: Keith Giffen has gone off to create new worlds that are beyond our living reach,” Levitz wrote on Facebook. “Keith was probably the most fertile creative mind of our generation in comics. He had an infinite number of ideas, pouring constantly out.”
Levitz continued, “We did over 60 stories together. Many of them he made far better than they...

None of the actors who starred in Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be reprising their roles in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, according to a new report from Variety.
Earlier this year, David Corenswet was confirmed to take over the mantle of the Man of Steel from Henry Cavill in the upcoming Superman: Legacy, which Gunn will write and direct. However, it’s currently unknown who will step in for Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Ezra Miller as the Flash.
Variety notes that Momoa could return in a different role as Lobo in either Superman: Legacy or a standalone film. It also seems like this report refutes the confusion caused by Gadot over Wonder Woman 3 after she claimed in August to be reprising her role and co-developing the film with Gunn and Safran.

Arthur Curry is back in the new trailer for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," and we've been waiting a really long time for his return. The first film, "Aquaman," was directed by James Wan and came out all the way back in 2018. The sequel film was supposed to come out last December but was pushed back a year because of Covid delays and leadership changes at Warner Bros. Pictures. Fans were worried that the film was going to get sent to the chopping block after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC branch of Warner Bros., but we can all let out a sigh of relief as "The Lost Kingdom" is finally hitting theaters just in time for the winter holiday season. I recently got to attend a trailer event where Wan did a Q&a about what we're going to see in the new film and dropped...
