Apparently, even A-list celebrities get annoyed. In this week’s “SNL” promo video, Benedict Cumberbatch is trying to promote the upcoming May 7 episode when he keeps. getting. interrupted. First, “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ego Nwodim butts in to say her name to the camera. Then the five members of Arcade Fire, the week’s musical guest, each interrupt him one at a time. Cumberbatch throws a mild hissy fit and storms off the stage, declaring, “All right, you’ve got this.” (Watch the video above.)

M. Ward will release his 10th solo album, Migration Stories, on April 3rd, 2020 via Anti Records. The singer-songwriter will promote the record on a North American tour that launches April 17th in Philadelphia and wraps May 22nd in Los Angeles.
Ward previewed the LP, which follows 2018’s What a Wonderful Industry, with new song “Migration of Souls.” The track follows the singer’s gravely voice as it glides over strummed acoustic guitars, melodic bass, breathy saxophones and reverb-kissed harmonies. “Sailing on past space and time,” he sings. “That’s how...

Arcade Fire’s fifth album, Everything Now, came out July 28, and ahead of a traditional interview, we also asked the band to tackle some of our favorite questions from Avq&As past. We called it Afq&A, which is very clever. Here are their answers.
Question: If you were Santa and you could gift everyone in the world with just one piece of culture, with the implicit understanding that they’d definitely read/watch/listen to it, what would you give them?Tim Kingsbury
The Very Best Of Nina Simone: Sugar In My Bowl 1967-1972. No matter what’s going on, I can listen to her sing and play and to her amazing band, and it takes me to a better place. Her music is my favorite, definitely a desert-island record for me.
Her version of “To Love Somebody” is perfect. The band is amazing—particularly the rhythm section...

Arcade Fire have already conquered the music scene at home and abroad. Now the band has their sights set on the cinematic world with The Reflektor Tapes. An exeriemntal and somewhat avant-garde look at the band through the release and tour of their most-recent album Reflektor, The Reflektor Tapes documents the source of the band’s rhythm as they explore new ways of creativity.
Directed by Kahil Joseph The Reflektor Tapes held its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festivalbefore heading to theatres on September 23rd in a one-night-only event. Cineplex sat down with two of the band’s core members, Regine Chassange and Tim Kingsbury to talk about their musical film.
Check out what they had to say:
Cineplex: Did you always intend for Reflektor to become a film? Was it always destined to be a movie?
Tim Kingsbury: Not always. I mean, we were filming the whole process,...

Arcade Fire and James Murphy work on the intricacies of "Afterlife" in the latest preview of the band's upcoming documentary, The Reflektor Tapes, which chronicles the making of their last album, Reflektor, and subsequent world tour.
The short clip arrives via Arcade Fire Tube and blends studio and live footage, fittingly opening with a perfect combination of the two: The vocal-only tracks of the song's call-and-response section playing while frontman Win Butler performs the same part live. In the actual studio footage, the band can be seen performing parts of...

While Arcade Fire are still recharging their batteries after touring the world in support of Reflektor, and with some members focusing on solo projects — Will Butler has been busy on the road promoting Policy, while Tim Kingsbury plays his first solo show next month — the band still has something special in the vault for fans. This fall, Arcade Fire will release their first feature film, "The Reflektor Tapes," and a healthy eight minute preview has landed online along with a much shorter teaser trailer. Directed by Sundance prize winning filmmaker Khalil Joseph, the movie is a behind-the-scenes look at the band, their performances, journeys to Haiti, and the bigger question of what music means to them. It's a step away from your traditional band documentary, but fans rarely expect the ordinary from Arcade Fire. "The Reflektor Tapes" hits the big screen on September 24th. Watch below.
