Robert Pattinson out of ‘Mission: Blacklist’ movie (photo: Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson in ‘Life’) Robert Pattinson and Mission: Blacklist have parted ways. Pattinson, whose name had been attached to the project for two years — since Cannes 2012 — has reportedly dropped out due to scheduling issues. Now, what could those issues be? Well, Robert Pattinson, best known (at least for the time being) as the vampire Edward Cullen in the immensely popular Twilight movie franchise, has no less than two movies opening at Cannes 2014: David Michôd’s thriller The Rover, co-starring Guy Pearce, which will be shown as one of Cannes’ Midnight Screenings, and David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, also featuring Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, and Carrie Fisher, and which is in the running for the Palme d’Or. There’s more: Robert Pattinson has recently completed work on Anton Corbijn’s Life, with Pattinson as photographer Dennis Stock,...

Back in May 2012 we got a sales poster for the adaptation of Eric Maddox's book "Capturing Saddam: The Hunt for Saddam Hussein--As Told by the Unlikely Interrogator Who Spearheaded the Mission", which was to be simply titled Mission: Blacklist with Robert Pattinson set to star. Since then we haven't heard much about the project, which was to be directed by Jean-Stephane Sauvaire. That is, until today, and it's not a good sign. According to The Wrap, Pattinson has dropped off the project, which would have seen him playing the role of interrogator Eric Maddox on a mission to trap the world's most wanted man, Saddam Hussein. Oh, yeah, it's based on a true story, Maddox isn't an ego maniac that uses his own name for characters in his books. Sauvaire is still attached to direct with a screenplay by Erik Jendressen, Dylan Kussman and Trace Sheehan. Pattinson simply won't be involved,...

Mission Blacklist
Director: Jesper Gandslant
Writers: Erik Jendressen, Dylan Kussman and Trace Sheehan
Producers: Preferred Content’s Ross M. Dinerstein, Jendresen, Kevin Waller
U.S. Distributor: Rights Available
Cast: Robert Pattinson
His last two oeuvres in the complex, dark The Ape accompanied by the estrogen-filled audit called Blondie demonstrate Jesper Ganslandt’s filmic temperament as one that is both alluring and volatile, so naturally we’re thinking that the Swedish auteur could embed this fact-based thriller with darker shades of the psychosis. We’ve lost track of this project which was have supposed to have begun lensing in January, and with Robert Pattinson in constant flux we imagine that we’ll be getting a news flash update of sorts fairly soon.
Gist: Based on the book Mission: Black List #1 – The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein – As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture by Eric Maddox with Davin Seay,...

We wake from our December holiday production break slumber for a production month of January that has some notable American indie productions, foreign films projects worth signaling out. Tracking Shot is sponsored by Production Weekly. German auteur Wim Wenders returns to Montreal for the winter portion of filming on Everything is Fine – the 3D drama stars James Franco, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Rachel McAdams and Marie-Josee Croze. After distinctly break-out indie offerings in Great World of Sound and Compliance, Craig Zobel is packing his bags for New Zealand. Adapted from the classic novel, Z for Zachariah sees Chris Pine, Amanda Seyfried and Chewitel Ejiofor jousting a little during the end of the world. A neighboring production can be found in Australia, David Mamet (his last theatrical release was 08′s Redbelt) is set to unload Blackbird – this is about a grieving granddaughter of a famous special effects artist in Hollywood discovers secrets (plot...

As reported over a year ago at Cannes and with a poster to prove it, there is a movie on its way about the manhunt for Saddam Hussein starring glittery vampire extraordinaire Robert Pattinson. Don't worry, this isn't some teen romantic drama infused with Middle Eastern political intrigue, it's set to be a pretty gritty thriller with the semi-autobiographical novel "Mission: Blacklist #1" as source material and a script written by "Band of Brothers" writer Erik Jendresen, "Dead Poets Society" actor Dylan Kussman, and relative unknown Trace Sheehan. The upcoming feature, "Mission: Blacklist" (no #1) follows military interrogator (and the novel's co-author) Eric Maddox on the hunt for Hussein, ultimately leading him to the 6 to 8 foot spider hole in Ad-Dawr filled with the Iraqi dictator, two Ak-47s, a pistol and $750,000 worth in $100 bills. Sounds pretty exciting, no? With Pattinson as Maddox and a finished script, all seemed good to go until director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire left.

Robert Pattinson Mission: Blacklist gets new director - Jesper Ganslandt - and may start shooting in fall 2013 Production on Mission: Blacklist, to star Robert Pattinson, seemed to have stalled for a while. Director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire quietly dropped out a couple of months ago, but now Deadline.com (“exclusively”) heralds that Jesper Ganslandt "has been tapped" to take the helm of the project about U.S. military interrogator Eric Maddox, whose work is credited for the eventual capture of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. (Note: This bit of "exclusive" news about Robert Pattinson’s eagerly anticipated project has been floating around the Internet since late June.) Jesper Ganslandt’s previous narrative-feature credits, all in his native Sweden, are the family drama Blondie (2012), the psychological thriller The Ape (2009), and the coming-of-age drama Falkenberg Farewell (2006). This last title, a somewhat overlong but ultimately quite moving story, was Sweden’s submission for that year’s...

Robert Pattinson Mission: Blacklist movie: Filming in August? Mission: Blacklist is not the upcoming fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise starring Tom Cruise. For the time being, that’s concisely called Mission: Impossible 5. So, what’s Mission: Blacklist? Well, as every ardent Robert Pattinson fan will tell you, that’s a Pattinson movie project initially announced in early May 2012. Pattinson is attached to this Embankment Films-financed (or to-be-financed) production based on Eric Maddox and Davin Seay’s book Mission: Black List #1 - The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein - As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture. The title of Maddox and Seay’s book says it all. But just in case, here’s the brief Mission: Blacklist synopsis found on the Embankment Films website: Unlike other Interrogators fresh out of training, Eric Maddox (Robert Pattinson) has a brilliant and beautiful mind. He has...

Ethan Hawke, Vera Farmiga and Emmanuellle Devos have joined Ed Harris in Neil Labute’s long-gestating 1970’s-set crime-thriller "The Geography of Hope" for Sundial Pictures and Boomdozer Inc.
The story follows two small time crooks (Hawke and Harris) who are keeping a low profile in a Baja resort after a heist goes wrong.
When they meet two women holidaying together (Farmiga and Devos), sparks fly romantically but tension builds when a large amount of cash is found in their room.
The discovery sets in motion a series of events that pits man against woman and friend against friend, leading to a bloody conclusion.
Stefan Nowicki, Joey Carey, Trace Sheehan and Tim Harms will produce. Shooting kicks off in Puerto Rico in January

He’s got Robert Pattinson’s eyes: Mission: Blacklist poster Robert Pattinson was officially cast in Mission: Blacklist, as American military interrogator Eric Maddox, about ten days or so ago. Producing company Embankment Films isn’t wasting any time. The sales poster for Mission: Blacklist, which will be peddled at the Cannes Film Festival, has been making the rounds online for several days. "In a World of Lies Only One Man Could See the Truth." That man was apparently Pattinson’s Maddox, who claimed to have eschewed torture while trying to figure out the whereabouts of fallen Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The brief Mission: Blacklist plot synopsis reads as follows: Unlike other Interrogators fresh out of training, Eric Maddox (Robert Pattinson) has a brilliant and beautiful mind. He has a unique ability to decipher highly complex patterns from seemingly random events. His mission is to trap the world’s most wanted man,...

The only thing I'm not a big fan of here is the title and the use of the colon. Unless you are inviting some kind or any kind of confusion with the Mission: Impossible why do this? Otherwise, Mission: Blacklist sounds interesting as we get a first look at a sales poster for the film, which will surely be floating around the Cannes marketplace next week looking for some money. Based on a true story, Mission: Blacklist is an adaptation of Eric Maddox's book "Capturing Saddam: The Hunt for Saddam Hussein--As Told by the Unlikely Interrogator Who Spearheaded the Mission." Embankment Films, which released the poster, gives us the following synopsis: Unlike other Interrogators fresh out of training, Eric Maddox (Robert Pattinson) has a brilliant and beautiful mind. He has a unique ability to decipher highly complex patterns from seemingly random events. His mission is to trap the world's most wanted man,...
