A group of bakers will soon have the chance to save their struggling businesses with the help of pastry chef Stephanie Boswell in the upcoming Food Network series “Bake or Break.”
In the series, Boswell will lend not only her baking expertise, but also her business acumen, to get these failing bakeries back on their feet. In addition to freshening up recipes, she’ll also partner with HGTV’s Lauren Makk and Breegan Jane to revamp the storefronts and get customers back in the door.
“Emotions run high as there is so much on the line both personally and professionally for the bakery owners,” Boswell said in a statement. “I see the potential in these struggling bakeries, and encouragement is the ingredient these owners need to believe in themselves so they can turn their businesses around. With hard work and some guidance, we freshen up their menus, add flavor, and...

The real-estate market has spoken, and Drew Scott has won Season 7 of HGTV’s “Brother vs. Brother.”
Drew Scott made a net profit of $1.4 million on his Hancock Park house flip in Los Angeles, California. Twin brother Jonathan made a net profit of $1.2 million on his own flip.
Jonathan Scott actually bought, renovated and sold the house directly next door (appropriately nicknamed “The House Next Door”) to his twin brother Drew and sister-in-law Linda’s real home in the historic and ritzy neighborhood. Drew’s project for the competition, dubbed “The Corner Chateau,” was just down the street a few blocks.
Both brothers had budgeted $2 million for renovations. Jonathan went $40,000 over; Drew went $50,000 over budget.
Drew purchased his for $2.35 million and sold it for $5.8 million. Jonathan bought his house for $2.4 million and sold it for $5.64 million.
They each received multiple offers, but in the end, the competition was won by...

The “stay-at-home” orders enacted across the U.S. in recent weeks to slow the spread of the coronavirus have taken away Americans’ abilities to do many things. But one new pastime they’ve given us is analyzing the home decor of late-night hosts now broadcasting their shows from their respective homes.
TheWrap had Hgtv “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” designer Breegan Jane critique the broadcasted homes of Stephen Colbert, James Corden, Trevor Noah, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien. She was impressed by a few — and not so much by others. Jane preferred the spaces that have clearly been “dressed” for TV.
“It’s Ok to set the stage a little bit,” she said. “I like the ‘A’ for effort.”
