The first time Jesse Garcia learned about Richard Montañez — the former Frito-Lay executive who’s said that he invented the wildly successful Flamin’ Hot Cheetos brand when he was working as a janitor for the company — the actor immediately thought, “That would be an awesome movie.” Years later, Eva Longoria cast Garcia to play Montañez for her feature directing debut, “Flamin’ Hot,” which premieres June 9 on Hulu and Disney+.
The film, produced by DeVon Franklin, covers Richard’s life from his difficult childhood to his marriage to his high school sweetheart Judy (Annie Gonzalez) to his rise at Frito-Lay. For Garcia, it was an all-too-rare opportunity to depict the real-life story of a Latino family in a mainstream feature film.
“Non-Latino projects, they have the luxury of failing,” Garcia says. “But if our work doesn’t work — or if for some reason is not successful — it’s a struggle to get the next project.

Michael Bloomberg today announced the second Bloomberg Global Business Forum will be held in New York City on September 26th at the Plaza Hotel during the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the daylong forum is the sole convening dedicated to encouraging presidents, prime ministers and CEOs to collaborate on trade issues by reaching a better understanding of one another’s challenges and mutual opportunities, thereby strengthening global economic prosperity. With protectionism on the rise – as well as worldwide population growth, economic inequality and climate change threats – it has never been more important for the world’s public and private sector leaders to uncover common goals and engage in economic diplomacy to promote continued globalization, innovation and competition. This one-of-a-kind forum will move beyond analysis and provide participants with the chance to shape the next stage of the global economy.

PepsiCo. is responding to backlash from the “Lady Doritos” comment made by its CEO, saying “we already have Doritos for women – they’re called Doritos.” Indra Nooyi talked about introducing “snacks for women” during an interview with the Freakonomics Radio podcast, and PepsiCo. issued a statement clarifying its position. “The reporting on a specific Doritos product for female consumers is inaccurate. We already have Doritos for women – they’re called Doritos, and they’re enjoyed by millions of people every day. At the same time, we know needs and preferences continue to evolve and we’re always looking for new ways to engage and delight...

On Monday, PepsiCo. got lambasted for a potential new product that the Internet dubbed the “Lady Dorito”—that is, a chip designed specifically for women.
Of course, as Kendall Jenner can attest to, this wouldn’t be the first time that the brand has been called out for a marketing scheme that was perceived as offensive and tone deaf. But unlike that infamously botched Pepsi ad, a product with this name doesn’t actually exist, and likely never will, thankfully.

One of America’s favorite snacks, Doritos, is facing some backlash after the Super Bowl, and it isn’t because of an ad. Indra Nooyi, the CEO of PepsiCo., talked about developing separate “snacks for women” on a recent episode of the Freakonomics Radio podcast. And Twitter finds that hard to swallow. Nooyi said that while men love Doritos, everything from licking their fingers and pouring the bag out to reaching the tiny crumbs and scraps lingering in the bottom, women like to enjoy their snacks differently. “Women would love to do the same, but they don’t,” Nooyi said. “They don’t like to crunch...
