The live shows of “America’s Got Talent” Season 18 begin on Tuesday, August 22 with the first “Qualifiers” round. In this stage of the competition, the acts sent through by the judges during the “Auditions” phase will perform again for a chance to advance to the finals. Of the 55 acts we know advanced to this round, 21 incorporate some form of singing in their overall talent. That’s over a third of the acts still in the competition, leaving us to wonder whether singing acts have a distinct advantage when it comes to the world’s biggest talent show. In terms of winners, it’s been four years since the last singer, Kodi Lee, claimed victory.

One of the most talked-about acts to come out of this year’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions is Putri Ariani, thanks in no small part to Simon Cowell blessing her with his Season 18 Golden Buzzer. All these months later, Simon is reflecting on the 17-year-old blind singer/songwriter’s audition at the piano and he’s expecting big things for her in this competition. “I would be amazed if she’s not either the winner or the runner-up. I mean, that’s who I put my money on,” he reveals in the NBC video above.
Putri came all the way from Indonesia to show the world her talent, and she performed two songs on the big stage: “Loneliness” and “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” “There was something about her, even before she started to sing,” Simon now declares. “I just — I had a feeling. And I’ve done this a long time.

Heading into Monday’s season finale of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars,” you would have been gravely mistaken if you thought Kodi Lee had this thing in the bag. Earlier this week, Gold Derby conducted a poll asking viewers of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” to name which of the 11 finalists they’re rooting for to win, and the results are not even close. In fact, an overwhelming 44 of respondents voted for Kodi Lee, the inspirational singer who was born blind and autistic, as their favorite. He recently sang “Biblical” on the big stage (watch above), and then told the “AGT” superfans, “Help me change the world.” Now it seems like a realistic possibility the fans will come through for him.

“America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” continued Monday, February 6 with the sixth and final set of 10 performances from some of the most beloved acts in “Got Talent” history. In previous installments, two acts advanced to The Finals per episode, but this week there was only one spot up for grabs. That decision came down to the superfans who chose singer Kodi Lee as the 11th all-star finalist.
Kodi’s selection meant that the nine other performers were eliminated from the competition. In a recent poll, we asked “Who was wrongfully eliminated on February 6?” and though “AGT” fans were split between two top choices, spoken word poet Brandon Leake came out on top as the artist most deserving of a spot in The Finals with 26 of the vote. Just behind him was comedian Josh Blue with 25 and singer Daneliya Tuleshova next with 18.

During Week 5 of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars,” the superfan voters made their choice for who they want to see in the finale, and it was good news for child ventriloquist Ana-Maria Margean. The talented tyke initially rose to fame when she won “Romania’s Got Talent” 2021, but now she’s taken her puppet skills to the U.S.A. where she’s hoping to prevail again. The only other act from this week that advanced to the finale was Tom Ball, a singer from “Britain’s Got Talent” 2022 who earned the group Golden Buzzer.
Over the years, ventriloquists have found wild success on the American version of Simon Cowell‘s worldwide talent search. Terry Fator (Season 2 winner) is perhaps the most well-known, thanks to his eye-popping 100 million contract on the Las Vegas Strip. He was followed in later years by Paul Zerdin (Season 10 winner) and Darci Lynne Farmer (Season 12 winner). Ironically,...

As we near the conclusion of the first phase of the “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” competition, there’s one question on our mind: What do the superfans have against singers? Out of the 40 acts to perform in the first round so far, a quarter of them can be considered vocal talents, but only chorale group Detroit Youth Choir has advanced, and that was thanks to a Golden Buzzer from Terry Crews. The nine other singers failed to earn enough votes from the superfans and were eliminated, but why?
Among the singing acts eliminated so far are former Golden Buzzer acts Cristina Rae and Sara James as well as champions of “Canada’s Got Talent” and “Dominica’s Got Talent” Jeanick Fournier and Keren Montero. Both Jeanick and Keren placed within the top three with the superfans on their respective episodes, as did Caly Bevier and Ndlovu Youth Choir. None of...

“America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” continued Monday, January 9 with the second set of 10 performances from some of the most beloved acts in “Got Talent” history. Two more acts advanced to The Finals based on those initial performances: Detroit Youth Choir received the Golden Buzzer from Terry Crews and Aidan Bryant was voted through by a secret group of superfans. They join Light Balance Kids and Bello Sisters who both advanced on the January 2 premiere. Monday’s results left eight all-star acts on the cutting room floor without a chance to be named “Got Talent World Champion.”

Over the first two weeks of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars,” the superfans had the option of voting for people who’d already won various “Got Talent” shows around the world, or branching out and anointing other talented acts. So far, they’ve chosen to snub former winners. Champions like Terry Fator (“AGT” Season 2) and Dustin Tavella (“AGT” Season 16) failed to earn enough votes from the superans to advance to the Finals, so they were eliminated from the competition (barring any future wild card save). What does this mean for upcoming fan-fave contestants like Kodi Lee and Brandon Leake, who won their original “AGT” seasons?
In Week 1 (which aired January 2), the two winners competing were singer Jeanick Fournier from “Canada’s Got Talent” Season 2 and ventriloquist Terry Fator from “America’s Got Talent” Season 2. After light-up dance group Light Balance Kids earned Howie Mandel‘s Golden Buzzer, the superfans voted for their Top 3 acts of the night.

Terry Fator is one of the most successful winners ever of “America’s Got Talent” turning his season 2 victory back in 2007 into a long-running gig in Las Vegas. That’s what makes his ouster on Monday’s premiere of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” so shocking.
After Howie Mandel used up his Golden Buzzer on Light Balance Kids (a top 10 act from season 14), Terry needed to win over the superfans to move on in the competition. But they opted for balancing act Bello Sisters (a top 10 act from season 15) instead.
What went wrong for Terry? Take a look at his performance in the video above and sound off in the comments section below. As we observed in our live blog of “AGT: All-Stars” episode 1, Simon Cowell told Terry that he’s inspired more variety acts to compete than anyone else and dubbed him “the best of the best.”

The first episode of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” left the judges gobsmacked when the results of the superfan vote were revealed. Instead of fan-favorite ventriloquist Terry Fator advancing to the finale, he was eliminated in favor of acrobats Bello Sister. “I would have never guessed that,” Howie Mandel told fellow “AGT: All-Stars” judges Simon Cowell and Heidi Klum after the winning results were announced on the January 2 premiere.
“You’ve just beaten the best of the best — congratulations,” Simon told the Italian-German acrobatic siblings after Terry Fator walked off the stage. The trio will next appear in the finale, where they’ll vie for the title of “Got Talent” World Champion.
The Bello Sisters previously appeared on “America’s Got Talent” Season 15 where they made it all the way to the finale, placing 6th-10th. However, the women had to compete via pre-taped videos since the Covid-19 pandemic prevented them...

Simon Cowell made a bold confession during the premiere episode of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” when he tells superstar ventriloquist Terry Fator that the reality TV show only happened because he signed on. “I’m gonna let you in to a little secret,” the British judge explains. “When we decided to make ‘All-Stars,’ we had one condition: We’re only gonna do it if you competed. Seriously. Because we just thought, if you’re gonna say we’ve got the best of the best, then you’ve gotta get the best of the best. And I have so much respect for you and so much gratitude.”

Comedian Jeff Dunham, singer Montell Jordan and *Nsync star Chris Kirkpatrick were revealed on Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer,” as the show’s second episode shared a rare triple unmasking.
The Hummingbird was revealed to be Kirkpatrick, while Pi-Rat was Dunham and Jordan was Panther. Kirkpatrick was a leftover unmasking from last week; after that, among this week’s three performances, Dunham was first to go, with the fewest number of votes.
Later, Jordan was unmasked as Panther after facing off with Harp in a battle royale (in which both took turns singing “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf). Harp won for a second week in a row.
“Vegas Night” opened with guest judge Donny Osmond, who appeared on Season 1, singing “The Greatest Show.

Who’s performing tonight on “America’s Got Talent“? The Season 17 live shows continue August 30 on NBC with the Qualifiers 4 group. Among this week’s contenders are metal singer Harper, a 10-year-old girl with an eye-popping voice, and ventriloquist Jack Williams, who is angling to join the winners list alongside Darci Lynne Farmer and Terry Fator. Remember, this year the live shows have gotten a major facelift. Gone are the days of Quarter-Finals followed by Semi-Finals. Instead, there will only be five Qualifiers rounds, with two out of 11 acts advancing from each group — yes, that means nine acts will go home each week.
This lineup notably includes Heidi Klum‘s Golden Buzzer act Lily Meola, a 27-year-old singer from Hawaii who previously sang an original song about losing her mother. So far on Season 17, Golden Buzzer acts have had a noticeable advantage when it comes to America’s votes. Indeed, all...

The Qualifiers 3 episode of “America’s Got Talent” aired Tuesday, August 23 on NBC with 11 acts performing live on the big stage. One of those acts was Celia Munoz, a 36-year-old singing ventriloquist from Madrid, Spain who went viral with her earlier audition. Celia is a trained opera singer who has only been performing ventriloquism for a few years. Her gimmick is that she performs without a puppet and makes all kinds of sound effects and voices instead. Watch the “AGT” video above, in which Celia paid tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John.

During her act, Celia attended a drive-in movie theater in which “Grease” was playing on the big screen. She drank coffee and ate popcorn all while singing “Hopelessly Devoted To You” without moving her lips. It was a truly impressive performance and something that’s never been seen before on the “America’s Got Talent” stage.

Has “America’s Got Talent” found its next ventriloquist superstar? Terry Fator (Season 2) and Darci Lynne Farmer (Season 12) have already won the NBC reality TV show thanks to their hilarious talents voicing puppets, and now Jack Williams is hoping to join them. The Indianapolis resident will audition during the upcoming Tuesday, June 14 episode, but NBC has already released a sneak peek video of his performance (watch above).
At first Heidi Klum assumes Jack is a magician because he has a covered box next to him, but he corrects her by noting, “Close. I am a ventriloquist.” The contestant then says hello to Sofia Vergara, a fellow ventriloquist who got her start voicing puppets as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the ABC sitcom “Modern Family.”
