Taking on a classic is a gutsy move, even for an award-winning filmmaker. And when director Kimberly Peirce signed on to re-imagine Stephen King's horror classic "Carrie," about a teenage girl with telekinetic powers hellbent on revenge, she knew she had some sky-high expectations to meet.
"I'd make a joke and say, 'I didn't give a f*ck,' but of course I felt pressure!" she told us recently while doing press for "Carrie." "But I think pressure is good."
All that pressure had Peirce thinking long and hard about what it would mean to sign on to a project of this scale, with its history and existing fan base. Having made just one film, 2008's "Stop-Loss," since her 1999 directorial debut, "Boys Don't Cry," it's clear, as a filmmaker, she doesn't make decisions lightly.
"I walked into this feeling a huge responsibility, much like I did with 'Boys Don't Cry...

This is the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 starring Katie Featherston and directed by Tod Williams. The film is the sequel to Paranormal Activity, directed by Oren Peli and starring Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Fredrichs, Amber Armstrong and Ashley Palmer. Good films about haunting have been a little scarce in the past decade; when it comes to modern horror, it has been a boom time for competent but unoriginal rehashes that can only shock the uninitiated (The Ring, The Omen 666, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, The Last House on the Left). Generally, gore has dominated any remaining scary movies (Saw I-v spring to mind). The relentless bone-cracking and gut-squelching offered by gory films has proved itself to be a particularly mindless form of horror, and anyone seeking something less predictable will find that Paranormal Activity is the perfect antidote. Made in one week in 2007 for a budget of...

Oren Peli, director of the indie blockbuster horror "Paranormal Activity" announced on his website that Kip Williams has signed on as director for eagerly anticipated follow-up. Paramount Pictures distributes the film which sees theaters October 22nd this year. The first film starred Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Fredrichs, Amber Armstrong and Ashley Palmer. The film was directed, written and edited by Oren Peli and produced Jason Blum and Peli. It followed a young, middle class couple who move into a seemingly typical suburban “starter” tract house but soon become disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic but certainly is very active in the middle of the night. The film provided many a scare for fans and was well harvested via a strong marketing campaign from Paramount.

"Paranormal Activity" movie thrillingly spooked with a great twist at the end. It was very interesting. Paramount Pictures released this drama/supernatural thriller movie, nationwide last weekend, and I totally missed the debut. I don't know how that happened because this film was awesome and very interesting. It stars: Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Mark Friedrichs, Amber Armstrong, and Ashley Palmer. "Paranormal Activity," was shot in documentary style and focused on a middle class couple, Katie and Micah who have moved in together. However, Katie has a spiritual being that has followed her everywhere she goes her whole life, and now it's haunting her and Micah. Micah sets up a video camera to record what goes on when they sleep at night. They capture doors slamming, footstep sounds, lights turning on, and all sorts of other weird paranormal phenomena that just gets progressively more intense as the film rolled on.

October is here, and you know what that means! Halloween preparations all month long! If you’re having a hard time thinking of a super spooky costume or getting in the Halloween spirit, then head on down to the theater and scare yourself silly with either Ruben Fleischer’s horror/comedy Zombieland, or Oren Peli’s horror/thriller Paranormal Activity.
Of course not everyone can handle getting scared in the theater, so if group shocks don’t tickle your fancy then why not pick up Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell and stay in for a night of screams.
Zombieland
Zombies continue to be one of the most popular movie monsters on the market, but zombie comedies don’t come along all that often. Shaun of the Dead has reigned supreme since 2004 as the only mainstream zombie comedy, but Zombieland gives it a run for its money with a...

Couple’S Retreat Studio: Universal Rated: PG-13 for sexual content and language. Starring: Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Faizon Love and Kristin Davis Directed by: Peter Billingsley What it’s about: Four couples face a wide array of relationship problems and travel to a tropical resort for a getaway. Unfortunately, they must also face a barrage of couples’ counseling, which puts a greater strain on their relationships. What I liked: I know this movie is just a big roaring pot of cliches, but I thought it was funny. The cast is the key, and it is loaded with some hilarious people. That’s not just the dudes with Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau and Faizon Love (who is the fat black dude that no one seems to remember but throws down the comedy as good as the rest of them). It’s also the ladies with the Kristen/Kristin double bill (yes, I...
