Ruth Bader Ginsburg's 35-page dissent in the Supreme Court's controversial Hobby Lobby ruling on Monday is already awesome enough, but singer-songwriter Jonathan Mann just made it even better: As part of his "Song a Day" project, he wrote an acoustic jam underlining the best points in Rbg's treatise. You'll never forget Ginsburg's words now that they're singable. As for Jonathan Mann: What a lovely voice! Reminds me of Jason Reeves, whose version of "Terrified" with Kara DioGuardi I've watched a thousand times.

Last September, we reported that Skybound teamed up with The Hero Initiative for a charity project where artists would create new original covers to commemorate The Walking Dead #100. A gallery show and benefit auction have now been announced and we have all the details:
“Robert Kirkman’s Eisner Award-winning comic book series, The Walking Dead, celebrated its 100th issue last July and the issue became the top-selling comic book of 2012. Last year, Skybound and The Hero Initiative gave the comic industry’s leading artists and visionaries over 100 blank covered issues of The Walking Dead #100 to create a set of remarkable artwork originals to commemorate this special issue of the groundbreaking Skybound/Image Comics series. Regular The Walking Dead series artist Charlie Adlard is among the contributors and now, for the first and last time ever, all 106 of the original sketch covers will be on display together — but for one night only.

Is it possible that zombies can be a force for good? Apparently so. Last year, Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman’s comic imprint Skybound and the Hero Initiative charity gave over 100 blank Walking Dead #100 covers to assorted comic-industry notables for them to sketch their own undead-oriented illustrations. Today it was announced that the covers will be on display together at a free, one-night-only, Hero Initiative-benefiting show and auction held at L.A.’s Gusford gallery on Friday, May 31.
Four of the covers will be auctioned off during the soiree — two on eBay and another pair on-site — including one that will...

"Pariah" took home the award for Best Independent Film, while star Adepero Oduye won for breakout Performance.
Meanwhile, Albert Brooks continued to build Oscar momentum, winning the award for Best Supporting Actor for his villainous turn in "Drive." With all the Gaga-esque artists out there, we tend to overlook the singers and songwriters who bring us back to reality. We love Lady Gaga, but sometimes it’s nice to listen and watch an artist who harbors qualities we look for in friends and others close to us. Come on, how many of you fans can say Lady Gaga holds the other half to your best friend’s locket? So when we find that artist who is as creative as any outlandish performer out there, but one who can also converse with us as though there is no celebrity status gap between us, we hold on tight. Twenty-six year old singer/songwriter/musician Jason Reeves believes in fairy tales. In fact, if you ask him, he'll tell you his life is made up of a series of them. As a friend and frequent collaborator of Grammy winning pop/country songstress Colbie Caillat, Jason has written and performed numerous songs, including several that appear on Caillat's critically acclaimed platinum CD Coco. His collaborative nature and raw talent have enabled him to work with several other musical artists such as Demi Lovato, Kara DioGuardi, and Tyrone Wells, and he is currently in the process of completing his third record. We recently had the chance to speak with Jason, who spoke candidly about his craft, his new single "Helium Heart," the collaborative process, and what inspires him to write. Let's begin with one of your first records The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache (and other Frightening Tales). It won the distinction...

"American Idol" stars Crystal Bowersox and Didi Benami might not be huge "Twilight" fans (don't run them off of Twitter, Twi-hards) but they do love vampires. "I think they're cool, and usually they're hot," Didi tells Zap2it between tour rehearsals. "And they have fair skin like me."
"I like vampires," Bowersox agrees. In fact, Crystal was bummed out when the "Idol" cast shot the "Twilight"-inspired Ford video, because she lacked an essential vampire trait. "I don't have any fangs," she says, pointing at the spaces where her canines should be. "That was the hardest thing about the Ford shoot. Everyone wore fangs but me, because I don't have a tooth to put it on!"
Don't worry, Crystal; being an "American Idol" is at least as cool as being a vampire.

A music video supporting Katharine McPhee's single "Terrified" which features Zachary Levi has been revealed. It features the contestant of "American Idol" season 5 in the recording booth with the "Chuck" actor.
Their studio scene is sometime intercepted with scenes featuring Kelly Overtone and Shane McRae as a couple who falls for one another. This newly-premiered clip is directed by Judson Pearce Morgan.
On working with Zachary, Katharine told People, "He was such a blast; so funny and charming." The actor also has nothing but good words for her, stating "Working with Katharine was awesome. She's a multi-talented girl, with a great heart. I hope I get the chance to work with her again."
"Terrified" is co-written by "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi and Jason Reeves, the latter actually lends his vocal on the song's original version. The track is listed in Katharine McPhee's sophomore set "Unbroken".

Former "American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee has released a new version of her single "Terrified" with a somewhat unlikely duet partner: "Chuck" star Zachary Levi.
The video for their collaboration was released Friday (May 7), and while it doesn't sound all that different from the song as it appears on her album "Unbroken" (she did that version with Jason Reeves). What's impressive, though, is that Levi pretty much holds his own with her. He's got a pretty good singer-songwriter voice, to our ears (maybe that's in the new Intersect?).
So that's at least four versions of the song we've heard to date: McPhee's original, the one that Didi Benami performed during "American Idol's" Hollywood round, "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi's performance on "Lopez Tonight" a few weeks ago and now this one.
Watch the video below. What do you think of Levi's singing chops?

If playing a tech geek-turned-super spy out to protect national security on the hit show Chuck isn't enough, Zachary Levi has signed up for another mission: Katharine McPhee's unlikely costar and duet partner in her latest music video for "Terrified." Terrified really is a cracking tune! It was originally co-written by American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and has been performed by her, Idol hopeful Didi Benami on many occasions and of course recorded by former Idol runner up Katharine McPhee.
McPhee is now re-releasing the tune as a duet with the delectable Chuck star Zachary Levi. She originally recorded it with Jason Reeves (who of course penned the tune with Kara) for her second album Unbroken but decided on a collaboration with Zach when she discovered that he can sing as well as act and will be showcasing his vocal skills in Disney’s upcoming animated film, Tangled.

Kara DioGuardi has been showing that she’s more than qualified to judge American Idol singing hopefuls by giving an amazing vocal performance of her own.
The Idol judge rocked up on Lopez Tonight yesterday, when she and Jason Reeves sang the song they co-wrote “Terrified.” The track was originally penned for Idol star Katharine McPhee and has also recently been performed by eliminated contestant Didi Benami, but we think that Kara’s version is easily as good as either of theirs.

DioGuardi wasn't just a guest on Lopez's show -- she also performed. She and Jason Reeves sang "Terrified," the song she wrote for former "Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee. The performance was part of DioGuardi's Turner Broadcasting tour Monday night (April 19) -- she and her fellow "Idol" judges also appeared on CNN's "Larry King Live" before her "Lopez Tonight" spot aired on TBS.
Lopez started by apologizing for repeatedly mangling her name in the past (and showed a montage of his flubs as proof), and they also discussed her naked photo shoot for Allure (the audience approved) and some other "Idol"-related business. Of her first season on the show last year, she says Simon Cowell "did sort of haze me," but she's being "more myself" this season.
After that, she made her TV performing debut with "Terrified.

Didi Benami's final week on "American Idol" was a bumpy one, what with her tepidly received "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted," an awkward interaction with Ryan Seacrest during which the host clutched on to her hand and begged her to open up about her deceased friend to 30 million viewers and, of course, her somewhat-shocking elimination Wednesday night, making her the third female singer in a row forced to take a bow.
It was a roller-coaster ride, for sure, but also the perfect fodder for a killer song.
"That was a crazy experience to say the least," Benami recently told MTV News. "I wrote the day I got kicked off, actually. I was sitting up in the holding room and ... I had this really weird feeling...

According to Jason Derulo's Facebook page, we can expect him to perform on the "American Idol" results show this Wednesday April 7. "Tune in!" he writes. "It's gonna be something special."
Derulo started rehearsals today, April 5. He's already got a strong "Idol" connection, because idol judge Kara Dioguardi took a part in discovering him. And this Jason is not to be confused with Jason Reeves who's featured on the Dioguardi-penned duet "Terrified" on former "Idol" Katharine McPhee's latest album.
Along with Derulo, reports have surfaced that a mystery "Idol" alum will also perform. "Idol" insider Fred Bronson dropped the following hints about the guest performer on the @IdolsNow twitter before deleting them a few hours later:
The "Idol" alum is male. He's not from Season 1 or Season 3.He's been watching "Idol" since it began. He's been interviewed by @IdolsNow.He has at least two vowels in his last name,...

"American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi praises Ellen DeGeneres, dismisses the Howard Stern rumors and explains the "Adam Lambert effect."
On Ellen DeGeneres as a judge:
Ellen brings a sense of humor, of course, but I think she knows more about music than you think she does. She was critical at times and she gave good feedback that was constructive ... I felt like she had a good handle on whether a contestant had potential, whether they had a star quality. She knew if something was off in the vocals or in their performance. She delivered the message with kindness but also had criticism in there ... She was very funny and was critical and had heart. I was very pleased with her and it's such an honor to sit next to her.
On Howard Stern:
That's a rumor. He doesn't have any kind of musical background and if you're going to replace Simon,...

At 22, Katharine McPhee was the runner-up on the fifth season of "American Idol" and very quickly released her self-titled debut album. Because, as she says, coming out of "Idol," the contestants have very little time to decide exactly what they're going to do.
Three years later, McPhee's sophomore album "Unbroken" gave her take more time and be more involved in the process. The end product is a quirky, more folk-y offering to go with her new sassy blonde 'do, in a genre that Katharine tells Zap2it she "can really build off of for her next project."
McPhee has writing credits on six of the 13 tracks on "Unbroken," working with several well-known songwriters like Paula Cole, Ingrid Michaelson, "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi and Jason Reeves (who also sings on the track titled "Terrified"). McPhee says she wasn't nervous to work with them, it was more exciting for her. "It was...
