This article contains Black Widow spoilers.
Cinema is back! Marvel is back! Natasha Romanoff is back! There’s so much excitement going on all at once that it can be overwhelming. Marvel’s latest—the long awaited Black Widow—is set during Natasha Romanoff’s (Scarlett Johansson) exile period, after Captain America: Civil War left the Avengers divided, and Nat is on the run from Gen. Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt).
As well as fleshing out Nat’s backstory, the movie introduces us to Yelena (Florence Pugh), Alexei (David Harbour), and Melina (Rachel Weisz), setting the four on a mission to locate the Red Room and destroy it and its creator Dreykov (Ray Winstone). It gets a bit twisty! But how does it end, and what does that Black Widow ending mean for Yelena, Natasha, and the MCU? We’ll have a go at unpicking it.

When Maïmouna Doucouré won the World Cinema Dramatic Directing award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival for her movie Mignonnes, the possibility of an American streaming platform perverting the pic’s commentary on societal pressures that steer young women and girls towards sexual objectification was probably the last thing on her mind. But the recent backlash against Netflix asserts that the company has done just that, as the service has come under fire for using the bodies of the film’s pre-teen stars for a sex sells campaign to promote its North American September release of the movie, now dubbed Cuties.
But the blowback has not been limited to Netflix alone, as Tessa Thompson—best known for her starring roles in the McU and Creed series—recently took to Twitter to defend Doucouré and her film in a move that proved controversial among her nearly six hundred thousand followers.

Ghost Rider may have featured in a pair of forgettable Nicolas Cage movies and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut is what Johnny Blaze fans are longing to see. With Marvel seemingly adding horror elements to the franchise during Phase 4, there’s been renewed hope that the supernatural anti-hero could one day be tearing up McU roads, and the latest reports suggest that this could be happening sooner than expected.
According to notable leaker Mikey Sutton, Ghost Rider may be handed a cameo in the upcoming Blade reboot followed by a more substantial appearance in a future sequel to the vampire pic. Apparently, the plan is to have Blade join forces with Johnny Blaze and several other Marvel anti-heroes to form the Midnight Sons. Other members of the team reportedly include Jennifer Kale, Man-Thing, Werewolf by Night and Nadeen Hassan aka Glyph.

There isn’t a Marvel or DC project that goes by these days without rumors of Keanu Reeves’ involvement, with the beloved actor regularly in the sights of both major comic book franchises. Kevin Feige already admitted that they talk to the 55 year-old about nearly every movie that they make, with the latest speculation linking him to the lead role in a proposed Ghost Rider reboot.
Meanwhile, Reeves’ DC effort Constantine recently celebrated its fifteenth anniversary, which also just happened to coincide with talks that a follow-up is reportedly in the works, one that would see the John Wick star reprise his role as the chain-smoking occultist. The movie flew well under the radar when it first landed back in 2005, but given how Reeves is now arguably the most wholesome and universally popular star on the planet, a sequel would be an almost guaranteed success.

As the culmination of 21 movies’ worth of storytelling that had to wrap up countless plot threads, many of which had been ongoing for over a decade, Avengers: Endgame has set the bar impossibly high for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next major crossover event, not to mention the fact that it also achieved a feat many thought might never happen by dislodging James Cameron’s Avatar as the highest-grossing film ever made.
Kevin Feige has already admitted that the Avengers will assemble again at some point in the future, and whatever he’s cooking up behind the scenes is going to have to be pretty special to match the conclusion of the Infinity Saga. Having grown up in the limelight after spending a decade as the star of one of the most popular blockbuster franchises in history, Daniel Radcliffe could have easily continued to piggyback off the success of Harry Potter for the rest of his days or faded quickly into obscurity, but instead he’s made a conscious effort to branch out, and as a result he’s become one of the most interesting young actors working today.
The 31 year-old certainly isn’t averse to taking risks and in the last few years alone he’s played a farting corpse in Swiss Army Man, an undercover FBI agent posing as a neo-Nazi in Imperium, an Israeli adventurer lost in Bolivia in true-life tale Jungle, a cocaine smuggler in Beast of Burden, a South African political prisoner in Escape from Pretoria and a computer programmer who ends up with guns bolted onto both hands...

There are countless questions surrounding the X-Men’s inevitable debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with rumors already swirling about how the studio will introduce the idea of the mutant gene into a mythology that’s existed for well over a decade at this point, not to mention how they’ll manage to put a fresh spin on characters we’ve already seen star in a dozen movies of wildly inconsistent quality.
Perhaps the single biggest question though is how Marvel are planning to handle Wolverine. Hugh Jackman’s tenure as the mutton-chopped mutant saw the actor become inextricably linked with the role, with his stint establishing his take on Logan as both one of the most enduring marriages of star and character in recent history, as well as one of 21st Century cinema’s most iconic figures.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. aired its series finale last night and it did a great job of wrapping up season 7’s time travel plotline as well as giving Coulson and his team endings that’ll make the fans happy. Of course, with any luck, this episode won’t be the last time we see at least a few of these characters. With the McU getting bigger all the time, there’s hope that someone like Quake, for example, could turn up in future Marvel movies or TV shows and it’s possible that the finale deliberately set up how Daisy could return in the franchise.
After the Chronicoms were defeated, the action hopped one year into the future and we found out that the team have gone their separate ways – Mack is still S.H.I.E.L.D. Director, Fitz and Simmons are raising their daughter and Coulson rides off into the sunset in a rocket car.

When The New Mutants is finally released this month, the Fox X-Men series will have come to an end. But don’t think you’ll be waiting too long before the mutants are back on the big screen. Disney now owns the rights to the characters and it’s inevitable that they’ll appear in the McU sometime in the 2020s. Exactly when that’ll be remains a mystery, though you can be assured that there’s behind-the-scenes work happening right now on the best way to slot them into the McU.
Of course, one facet that must be being considered is casting. Fox absolutely nailed finding actors for key characters like Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto and there’s now pressure on Marvel Studios to do the same. (Warning: The following story contains Major spoilers for the two-part series finale of ABC’s “Agents of Shield” on Wednesday.)
Unless the McU decides to go back into the past again, it’s likely that Wednesday’s series finale of “Agents of Shield” represented the final appearance for Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson.
Aside from Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans, Gregg has probably appeared the most in the McU between his small roles in Marvel’s batch of films, where he primarily existed to serve as the connective tissue between all the various films, and his starring gig on “Marvel’s Agents of Shield,” Marvel’s first crack at extending its universe to the small screen.
It’s been a wild journey for Gregg, who has been brought back from the dead, twice (though the second time it was as a Life Model Decoy), played an evil doppelganger version...

Since Disney took ownership of Wolverine as part of their Fox buyout last year, the future of the character has been up in the air. At the moment, Hugh Jackman remains steadfast in his refusal to return even for a cameo (though the studio are reportedly trying with everything they’ve got to change his mind). But just because Jackman is done doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of the character.
It’s been a subject of speculation ever since Logan as to who will succeed him as cinema’s second Wolvie. Admittedly, some fan picks are more likely than others and this particularly left-field suggestion falls firmly into the “others” category. As you can see below, this piece of fan art imagines what Shia Labeouf, yes, Shia Labeouf, would look like with the famous claws.
Fans can have their fantasies, too, alright? Especially fantasies that no one else shares.

There are few big screen superheroes as wholesome as Chris Evans’ Captain America, with the actor taking a character who seems like the least interesting Avenger on paper and giving him enough warmth and humanity to establish him as the beating heart of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, comic books have always made it clear that the line between heroism and villainy is often a very thin one that can become easily blurred, which is why so many superheroes usually find that their arch-nemeses are mirror versions of themselves. As a decorated soldier and distinguished war veteran, Captain America was the ideal candidate to lead the Avengers, but some new fan art imagines what would have happened if Steve Rogers had turned out like Marvel’s other famous veteran Frank Castle, and you can check it out below.

Having played Wolverine for close to two decades and firmly established the adamantium-infused mutant as one of the most iconic characters in 21st Century cinema, following in Hugh Jackman’s footsteps would be a near-impossible task for any actor, so much so that Marvel Studios would be much better off leaving him out of their upcoming reboot entirely.
Only Robert Downey Jr.’s decade-long run as Tony Stark can come close to being mentioned in the same breath as Jackman’s Logan when it comes to the perfect marriage of actor and character in the comic book genre, and if Wolverine ends up playing a major role in the McU’s X-Men as has been widely rumored, then whoever grows out the sideburns will inevitably find their every movement compared to Jackman’s no matter how good of a performance they turn in.

After Disney CEO Bob Iger added Deadpool to his Twitter header, Liefeld responded in kind by posting an image of Wade Wilson brandishing the severed head of Mickey Mouse. The outspoken writer and artist has also made it clear that he doesn’t have much faith in the Mouse House’s ability to handle Deadpool 3, even going as far as to claim they have no interest in making the movie at all.

A few days ago, we learned that Deadpool 3 will be a prequel set earlier in the McU timeline. Although little is yet known about the project – save for the fact that the character’s creator Rob Liefeld is seemingly being left out of the production by Disney – we’ve now heard that not only will the film be a prequel, but it’ll change the antihero’s origin story a little bit as well. Or at least, change it from what we saw in the Fox movies.
That story, for the record, was first laid out in the original Deadpool. Released in 2016, it presented a version of the character who after discovering he suffers from an aggressive and seemingly incurable cancer, agrees to undergo an experiment that ends up changing his life for better and for worse at the same time. Thanos will be a tough act for the McU‘s next big bad to follow, but Marvel is spoilt for choice when it comes to compelling villains. Galactus could offer a universe-ending threat far greater than the Mad Titan, and there’s also the likes of Norman Osborn to call upon if the studio wants to go for something more grounded. Another strong contender for this role is Doctor Doom, and rumours suggest the comic book giant might already have an actor in mind to play the Latverian dictator.
Giancarlo Esposito, best known for playing Gus Fring in the Breaking Bad universe, has been strongly linked with the McU in recent months and the role he’s said to be circling is that of Victor Von Doom. Jamie Foxx is no stranger to brief flirtations with the superhero genre having played Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and remained attached to the title role in the Spawn reboot despite the project having endured several setbacks already, with the Academy Award winner also soon to be seen in Netflix’s Project Power.
However, despite reportedly being under consideration several times in the past for various parts, he’s yet to be afforded the opportunity to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the franchise’s scope and scale expanding exponentially thanks to both the upcoming roster of Disney Plus shows and introductions of big-name characters like the X-Men and Fantastic Four though, the McU’s ensemble is only set to grow larger over the coming years.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man movies have so far struck a great balance between using many familiar faces from the character’s extensive back catalogue of supporting players that have already been seen in the web-slinger’s previous big screen outings at Sony, and still putting a fresh spin on things.
Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May is a lot younger than Rosemary Harris or Sally Field’s versions, Zendaya’s Mj has absolutely nothing in common with Kirsten Dunst’s take on Peter Parker’s main love interest, Angourie Rice’s high-school age Betty Brant is a far cry from the Daily Bugle secretary played by Elizabeth Banks, and it would be an understatement to say that there aren’t many similarities between Tony Revolori and Joe Manganiello, both of whom have played Flash Thompson.

She-Hulk is set to smash her way into the McU in the near future thanks to her very own Disney Plus TV series. Given the newfound interconnectivity between Marvel’s shows and their movies, Jennifer Walters is expected to crossover onto the big screen following her live-action debut and no doubt fans are hoping that Bruce Banner’s equally-emerald cousin will be the key ingredient in the formation of the A-Force all-female super-team in the franchise.

With Fox having made a dozen X-Men movies that largely focused on the same group of characters, many of whom were recast and rebooted more than once, the smartest idea for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s in-development take on the mutants could be to utilize names that we haven’t seen on the big screen before.
Most of the conversation surrounding the McU’s X-Men has unsurprisingly focused on Wolverine, and the task facing any actor willing to step into Hugh Jackman’s iconic shoes could be so daunting that the studio might be better off leaving Logan out of the mix entirely until their version of the team has been fully established.
Of course, it would be difficult to make an X-Men movie that doesn’t feature Charles Xavier and Magneto in some form, as The New Mutants has been repeatedly finding out, so the leaders of both...

By every definition of the word, Thanos was insane. But now, based on what we saw in Avengers: Endgame, we can assume that the pragmatic warlord was a hypocrite as well.
The Mad Titan, in his crusade to save the universe from overpopulation, always claimed that he killed people randomly and dispassionately. So, when he got his hands on all six Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War, people assumed Thanos objectively went through with his plan and wiped out half of all living creatures in the universe, which makes no logical sense when you think about it. But to explore whether Thanos’ rampage was really indiscriminate, we have to take a look at his family and backstory.
When Thanos and Gamora visit Red Skull on Vormir, the former leader of Hydra recognized the Mad Titan as “Thanos, son of Eros.” However, Eros is actually Thanos’ brother in the comics. Their father,...

Stars don’t make the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Marvel Cinematic Universe makes stars. The studio have never actively sought to cast A-list names as their marquee superheroes, but instead favor an approach that sees many of the major roles given to up-and-coming young actors that grow into their characters over a number of years.
Chris Hemsworth was a virtual unknown, Chris Pratt was best known for playing a supporting role in a sitcom, Chris Evans was widely remembered as being Fantastic Four’s Human Torch, and when Robert Downey Jr. was first cast as Iron Man he was still on the comeback trail following years of highly-publicized and self-destructive behavior.
The point is, being an important part of the McU is of huge benefit to any actor’s career, but nobody is bigger than the franchise itself, with Kevin Feige the one and only person calling the shots. However,...

Early on, the PlayStation VR brought us Batman Arkham VR, which allowed us to be the Dark Knight. It was cool that you could play with those wonderful toys, but if you were going to take over for a DC hero using virtual reality, the real deal should really be someone like Superman or Green Lantern. Being the World’s Greatest Detective is one thing, but if we’re going to be truly immersive, then flying and shooting lasers is where it’s at. Luckily, the people at Sony Interactive Entertainment and Camouflaj realized that with the Marvel license, you could have your superhero cake and eat it too.
Want to fly around shooting lasers And play with the high-tech gadgets of a billionaire with daddy issues? Why not be Tony Stark, the Invincible Iron Man?
“Be Iron Man with use of VR” is such a high concept that it practically sells itself.

Some of the biggest character reveals, including Spider-Man and Thanos, were simply teasers before they became integral to the continuity.
