When Dwayne Johnson & Emily Blunt Were Warned By Disney Over Their S*x Toy Joke During Jungle Cruise Promotion (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt share a fantastic dynamic, and it all began with their film Jungle Cruise. The former WWE champion might reunite again with the Oppenheimer star for the upcoming mixed martial arts movie The Smashing Machine. Dwayne and Emily’s fun banter is often shown in their interviews. At one point, they went a little bit overboard and received a call from Disney asking them to dial it down a bit when their banter began to involve adult toys.
Their film Jungle Cruise came out in 2021, and besides Emily and Dwayne, it also featured Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti in significant roles. The movie was based on Disneyland’s theme park ride, in which a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through...

It’s lights out on The Afterparty. Apple TV+ has canceled the murder-mystery comedy after two seasons. Apple nixed the series in part because of a post-strike reevaluation of its streaming series, according to Deadline sources. The Afterparty debuted in January 2022, created by Chris Miller and executive-produced by Phil Lord as part of the pair’s five-year overall deal with Apple TV+. Season 1 told the story of a murder at a high school reunion through the perspectives of different guests, with each episode boasting its own visual style based on popular film genres. That first season starred Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou, and Dave Franco. Season 2 premiered this July, with Haddish, Richardson, and Chao reprising their roles in a tale about a murder at a wedding. The party's over.
Apple TV+ has canceled The Afterparty after two seasons, Deadline reports.
The decision comes weeks after the conclusion of The Afterparty Season 2.
Thankfully, each season of the series is designed to be self-contained, meaning fans were not left hanging over a cliff about what would have happened next.
Resolution is necessary for a show of The Afterparty's caliber, which begins its seasons with a murder before having Tiffany Haddish's Detective Danner investigating the pool of suspects.
The investigation is infused with humor, red herrings, and everything you'd expect from a series that doesn't want to tell you the killer's identity until the season finale.
It's unclear how well the show performed on Apple TV+ because the streaming service keeps those viewership statistics under lock and key.
The first season had a considerable amount of buzz, but The Afterparty Season 2 seemed to appear out of nowhere...

Both seasons featured a contained mystery, with single-season main cast members including Ike Barinholtz, Ben Schwartz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou, Dave Franco, John Cho, Paul Walter Hauser, Ken Jeong, Anna Konkle, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall, Zach Woods and Vivian Wu.
The series was created by Chris Miller, who executive produced the series alongside Phil Lord under their banner Lord Miller. Aubrey Lee served as producer. Anthony King also served as executive producer.

Apple TV+’s “The Afterparty” has been canceled after a second season, an individual with knowledge of the move told TheWrap on Friday.
The 10-episode installment that dropped its first two episodes in July and followed with a weekly release on Wednesdays put a new spin on the popular murder mystery genre. As each character recounted what they were doing and what they saw on the night in question, their testimony was told through a different film genre.
Sony Pictures Television plans to shop “The Afterparty” to other platforms in light of the cancellation, an individual with knowledge said.
In the second season, a wedding is ruined when the groom (Zach Woods) is found dead in bed. Desperate to figure out whodunit, Aniq (Sam Richardson) and Zoë (Zoë Chao) call up their former investigator turned ally, Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish). Apple is breaking up The Afterparty.
The tech giant’s Apple TV+ streaming service has canceled The Afterparty after two seasons. The news comes a month and change after the genre-hopping comedic murder mystery finished its second season.
Sony Pictures Television, which produces the series, will look to find another home for The Afterparty. The show tells a self-contained story with each season.
Created by Chris Miller, who executive produces along with his producing partner Phil Lord, The Afterparty took on a different genre in each episode, depending on which character’s point of view was front and center. Zoë Chao, Sam Richardson and Tiffany Haddish reprised their season one roles in the second installment, which was set at a wedding that’s ruined when the groom turns up dead. The season two cast also features John Cho, Paul Walter Hauser, Ken Jeong, Anna Konkle, Poppy Liu, Elizabeth Perkins, Jack Whitehall,...

Updated: There will be no third season for Apple TV+s The Afterparty. The streamer has canceled the murder mystery comedy series after two seasons, Deadline has confirmed. The decision comes a month after Season 2 ended its run.
The studio behind the critically praised series, Sony Pictures Television, plans to shop it to other platforms.
Executive producers Chris Miller and Phil Lord and created by Miller, each episode of The Afterparty explores a different character’s account of one fateful evening when a murder occurs — all told through the lens of popular film genres and unique visuals to match the storyteller’s perspective.
While Season 1 of The Afterparty was a breakout with its unconventional structure, creating a pop culture moment and a guessing game who the killer was, Season 2 had a quieter run this summer and could not match the influence of the original installment. It also may have been...

The Afterparty delivered its second-season finale on Wednesday, tying up the monthslong mystery of who killed aloof tech bro Edgar (Zach Woods). With suspicion falling on, alternately, at Edgar's bride, Grace (Poppy Liu), mother Isabel (Elizabeth Perkins), sister Hannah (Anna Konkle), and business partner Sebastian (Jack Whitehall), not to mention Grace's entire family, there was plenty to be sorted out.

“I’m doing a new exercise today, so don’t take no offense,” Tiffany Haddish announces at the start of our interview (conducted over Zoom before the SAG-AFTRA strike). “But I want to see how I communicate with my eyeballs looking at the back of my eyelids.”
And true to her word, for most of the interview, she kept her eyes closed. It was a first for me. But for some reason it worked. Maybe it was because Haddish is so effortlessly charming and talented or because it is something that her character Danner on Apple TV’s brilliant “The Afterparty,” would do. Especially if she had a case to solve.
This week’s episode of “The Afterparty” is entirely devoted to Haddish’s Danner. As is the case with the rest of the show, each episode takes on the look and feel of a different film genre. And – perhaps...

In its second season, The Afterparty faces the challenge of crafting a gripping new mystery while maintaining the charm that endeared the series to audiences in the first place. That meant venturing into unexpected territory that might not seem like typical genres upon first glance. Last week, Hannah’s (Anna Konkle) episode was told through the style of a Wes Anderson film, while Sebastian’s installment (Jack Whitehall) veers into spy heist territory.
Season 2 has also expanded the time frame for each character to share their side of the story, enabling deeper explorations into everyone’s origin stories, rather than merely recounting the weekend’s events. It provides the series with a more pronounced familial focus, moving beyond just a simple murder mystery premise. As the case unfolds, The Afterparty delves into themes of generational trauma and cultural divisions, infusing the show’s comedy with some weightier storylines.

How great was “The Afterparty?” Chris Miller’s Apple comedy in which murder suspects retell one fateful night in multiple genres became a breakout hit in 2022, renewed for an unexpected yet welcome second season. The new installment premieres Wednesday with two episodes that introduce a new cast, murder, and genres — not quite as exceptional as Season 1, but still enjoyable.

Is there no end to the talents of Lord and Miller? After the soaring success of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, they’re on smaller screens this week, returning to the world of the whodunnit with the second season of the genre hopping The Afterparty.
After cracking a high school reunion murder in season one, fast-talking Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) is back to solve another mystery, this time a strange death at a wedding. It’s down to her, with some help from Aniq (Sam Richardson) who she met on the first case, to weed out the killer from all the guests. Could it be Jack Whitehall’s smooth talking best man? The groom’s haughty mother, Isabel, played by Elizabeth Perkins? Or does the bride’s father (Ken Jeung) know more than he’s letting on?
All will be revealed – eventually – in the new series which starts on Apple TV+ this week.

Christopher Miller created the American murder mystery comedy tv series The Afterparty Season 2 is set to release in July.
The plot of the series revolves around an after-party at a high school in which a murder takes place. Each episode of the series offers a different perspective of characters about what happened at that party.
The series is an exemplification of “the millennial whodunnit” which is a new subgenre of the murder mystery. In this type of mystery, the investigation becomes a medium for characters to seek personal fulfillment, second chances, and an escape from oppressive boring everyday life.
When Is The Afterparty Season 2 Releasing? IndieWire
The idea of ‘The Afterparty’ came to Miller during the early 2010s which is influenced by his love for the murder mystery genre. He wanted to make a show in which witnesses will be able to showcase their different perspectives.
Although it was first conceived as a feature-length project,...

A locked-room murder mystery anchored by an eccentric detective, The Afterparty is one of many comedy-mysteries to surface in the wake of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out. But the Apple TV+ series sets itself apart with a distinctly meta sense of humor that’s typical of creator Christopher Miller and producer Phil Lord’s work together. When Tiffany Haddish’s excitable Detective Danner moves into investigative mode, she imagines each person’s testimony as a pastiche of a different movie. Think Rashomon meets Mad magazine.
Where Johnson’s Glass Onion brought back Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc for a new adventure with a brand new cast of characters, the second season of The Afterparty both retains its central sleuth and brings back two characters from the previous season, Aniq (Sam Richardson) and Zoë (Zoë Chao). The two friends stumble upon a new murder, this time at a wedding between Zoë’s sister,...

Plot: Detective Danner returns to help Aniq and Zoë solve whodunnit by questioning family members, star-crossed lovers and business partners, and hearing each suspect’s retelling of the weekend, each with their own unique perspective and visual style.
Review: Last year, AppleTV+ premiered Christopher Miller’s whodunit comedy, The Afterparty, to critical acclaim. Following a Rashomon-esque approach where each murder suspect told their story in a different genre style, the series was as hilarious as it was unique. Bringing The Afterparty back for a second season meant that not only would the creative team have to bring something new to the table, but a cast on par with the all-stars of the first season would need to be recruited. With only Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao, and Tiffany Haddish reprising their roles, The Afterparty‘s second season has delivered another run that is just as good as the first. While there...

Nancy and Celia may be back in business. Elizabeth Perkins, who starred as Celia Hodes on the Showtime series “Weeds” from 2005-2009, tells Variety she’d gladly step back into the role now that a revival of the show is reportedly in the works.
“It’s just that— it’s talking,” Perkins said when asked about talk of a reboot. “I’d be on board. I loved working with Mary-Louise Parker. I love those two characters together, Nancy and Celia!”
Deadline reported in May that a “Weeds” reboot was in development at Showtime with lead star Parker attached to star and executive produce. (Variety first exclusively reported the reboot was in the works at Starz in 2019). Lionsgate, the studio behind the production, declined to comment at the time.
Perkins revealed her interest in a potential reboot as she walked the carpet for Apple TV+’s “The Afterparty” Season 2 on Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
