Marvel Studios‘ The Marvels is taking superhero fans higher, further, and faster thanks to the Captain Marvel sequel’s confidence, heart, slickly-directed action scenes, and more! Despite the film’s mediocre performance at the box office this past weekend, The Marvels is getting great word of mouth and boasts an Audience Score of 84% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. A highlight of the film is Iman Vellani’s silver screen debut as Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, teams up with Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Captain Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) to defeat Dar-Benn, a scorned leader of the Kree Empire. The flerken-filled sequel finds Kamala living her dream of fighting alongside her idol, Captain Marvel and leveling up as a valued member of the superhero community. I will spoil a thing or two about the film in the next paragraph, so steel yourselves or risk it all for some fantastic insight into...

“Superheroes don’t need chaperones,” Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) huffs in the finale episode of Ms. Marvel.
Her older brother Aamir (Saagar Shaikh) has arrived on the scene at the final standoff against the Department of Damage Control to watch out for Kamala and her friends, at the request of their mother. It’s a line that serves its purpose in the scene, but also reminds the audience that despite her newfound cosmic powers and sleek superhero outfit, Kamala is still just a teenager. But it’s her authentic and unapologetic teendom that makes her who she is. Vellani’s effortless performance paints Kamala as a real teenager — one who many can recognize once in themselves, their friends and their family.
It’s in those interactions with her friends that Kamala truly embodies authentic teendom, as she maintains her awkward charm even in the direst of situations.

Marvel continues to tease the long-awaited crossover that fans have been dying to see — the emergence of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
For years, the X-Men were distinctly kept out of the MCU narrative due to rights issues (Bryan Singer’s X-Men films of the early 2000s remained under the ownership of 20th Century Fox.) But since Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019, the addition of mutants to the universe has been imminent. Three years later, we’re finally seeing the pieces slowly but surely come together in what points to a full debut for the X-Men into the MCU.
In the trail of breadcrumbs that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and team continue to leave behind throughout Phase 4, the latest development might be the most important of all. Following a big reveal at the close of the Ms.

Kamala Khan is a superhero fan with an imagination, particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel; Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home, that is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s looked up to.
Even though the wildly popular Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is full of comedy, heart, and emotion, one thing it is severely lacking in is more coming-of-age-style stories. Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming was really the closest thing we ever got to a coming-of-age MCU film, and boy did it ever work.

(Spoilers for season one of Ms. Marvel on Disney+ ahead.) Ms. Marvel just changed the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. Since their first team-up in 2012, The Avengers have been the headlining team of the MCU. But the July 13 season finale of Ms. Marvel on Disney+ officially confirmed the next team of heroes Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has been waiting years to introduce: the X-Men. In the last scene of episode six, Bruno (Matt Lintz) informs his bestie Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) that there may be more to her powers than the ones unlocked by her family's otherworldly bangle. "Kamala, there's something different in your genes, like a mutation," he tells her, followed...

The sixth and final episode of "Ms. Marvel" was released on Disney+ on July 13, and the end-credits scene involved a major MCU cameo with some huge implications for the "Captain Marvel" sequel, "The Marvels." Let's break down just what the ending of "Ms. Marvel" means for the future of the MCU.
During the short scene, Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) rests on her bed in her brand-new suit, presumably after a long day of superhero-ing. Her mom (Zenobia Shroff) is heard off screen urging her to finish her science homework. But before she can even crack open her textbook, her bangle lights up mysteriously. Viewers will remember, of course, that the bangle first unlocked Kamala's powers. Her great-grandmother Aisha (Mehwish Hayat) and her fellow Clandestines found the bracelet in a mysterious cave, adorning a severed arm that appeared to be blue (we'll get back to that!).

The following contains major spoilers for the “Ms. Marvel” finale episode. Turn away now if you haven’t seen it.
The season finale of “Ms. Marvel” ended, per Marvel Cinematic Universe tradition, with a post-credits scene setting up a future project.
But as much fun as the brief moment was (and yes we’ll talk about it more below) it was vastly overshadowed by the episode’s final scene proper, which contained a huge reveal so important to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we’re honestly surprised this wasn’t the post-credit scene instead.
Literally, it changes everything for Kamala — even more than learning she’s part-Djinn did — and just as important, also seems to set up how Marvel is going to finally introduce, uh, a flurry of X-related puns into the MCU.

Warning: spoilers below for "Ms. Marvel" episode 5.
"Ms. Marvel" has very nearly finished its six-episode run, which means things have been heating up in a lot of major ways. With Kamala Khan's (Iman Vellani) time in Pakistan, it's been hard to keep tabs on Bruno (Matt Lintz) and Kamran's (Rish Shah) stateside antics. Of course, learning more about Kamala's family — especially her great-grandparents, Aisha (Mehwish Hayat) and Hasan (Fawad Khan) — has produced some of the best Marvel television yet. That said, there's quite a bit brewing for Kamran after episode 5, "Time and Again." While the episode was focused...

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the stakes have only been getting greater and greater since Iron Man’s debut in 2008. In Avengers: Endgame, fans saw the culmination of Kevin Feige’s multi-phase master plan, in which every hero across the galaxy came together to defeat their most powerful foe yet: Thanos.
But in Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan’s (Iman Vellani) story brings Marvel back down to Earth — figuratively and literally. Set in Jersey City surrounding a (seemingly) normal Pakistani-American family living in modern-day Earth-616, the Disney+ series sheds light on a more realistic version of our own society within the MCU, giving audiences a glimpse into the normal day-to-day living in the post-Blip aftermath.
And that’s not to say that our titular hero doesn’t see her fair share of action sequences, chase scenes and run-ins with galactic forces throughout the show,...

Time for another round of "Which Marvel Cinematic Universe role did this actor almost play before they joined the MCU?" Yes, it seems the franchise is full of near-misses when it comes to casting — from Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, auditioning for Thor with blonde locks and everything (don't take my word for it — watch the footage for yourselves) to Sebastian Stan trying out for Captain America before signing on as Bucky Barnes. By and large, though, Marvel Studios has rarely missed when it comes to its casting picks, if not always on purpose.

As Disney+ releases the six episodes of "Ms. Marvel" this summer, Popsugar has exclusive interviews with the cast and creators about making the show come to life. This week, director Meera Menon chats with Popsugar about episode three, "Destined."
There was something that director Meera Menon was certain she wanted in "Ms. Marvel" episode three: songs from Bon Jovi. The episode centers around Kamala (Iman Vellani) dealing with the wedding of her brother Aamir (Saagar Shaikh) to his fiancée Tyesha (Travina Springer). The event has two huge set pieces: a choreographed dance that most of the attendees lovingly perform for the newlyweds and Kamala's first big fight set, incredibly, to Bon Jovi's biggest hit, "Livin' on a Prayer."

Who is the big bad in “Ms. Marvel?”
That hasn’t been fully answered as of Episode 3, “Destined,” but the latest installment introduces the Clandestines, and they’re here to make life a lot harder for Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani).
Viewers last saw Kamala saving a child who fell from great height during the local Eid celebration. As she ran from drones and cars full of Damage Control agents, she’s rescued by Kamran (Rish Shah) and his mother Najma (Nimra Bucha).
It turns out Najma and her friends are a group known as the Clandestines, who hail from another dimension and have lived in exile on Earth for upward of 80 years. They’ve been searching for Kamala’s bangle, which is part of a pair — but using one without the other could be perilous, as the cold open suggests. Ms. Marvel couldn’t be more different than Meera Menon’s last Marvel experience on The Punisher, but the story of Kamala Khan certainly strikes a deeper chord in the filmmaker. Similar to Kamala, Menon was raised by South Asian immigrants in New Jersey, so she relished the opportunity to help tell a story that she longed for during her own childhood. The Indian American filmmaker, who directs Ms. Marvel’s second and third episodes, made it clear to Marvel Studios from the get-go that this project was especially personal to her.
“I just wanted to be a part of it in any way, so I let [Marvel Studios] know right off the bat that it meant a lot to me to see that form of representation. It was seeing something akin to my sense of my own upbringing, and it just felt so meaningful...

With the first two epic episodes of Ms. Marvel now streaming on Disney+ and the next ready to drop, we thought we would deliver even more scoop on this very special show.

As Disney+ releases the six episodes of "Ms. Marvel" this summer, Popsugar has exclusive interviews with the cast and creators about making the show come to life. This week, Yasmeen Fletcher chats with Popsugar about episode two, "Crushed."
Yasmeen Fletcher really loves her "Ms. Marvel" character, Nakia. Before she knew the show was going to happen, a friend told her about the comics, explaining how it was all about a Pakistani American Muslim teenager with a similar culture to Fletcher's. "I immediately went to the comic-book store and picked up the first comic I could find and read through it and fell in love with it," she tells Popsugar.
When Fletcher heard rumors about a show adaptation, the actor told her manager she needed to be a part of it and she needed to play her favorite character, Nakia. "She's just so strong and she's kind of a badass," Fletcher says of her character.

“Ms. Marvel” Episode 2 contains a Bollywood bombshell.
Marvel’s new Disney+ series wonderfully weaves in South Asian culture with Pakistani-American Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), but Episode 2 dials the Bollywood up to 100 — and may hold the key to where this series is heading.
Freshly superpowered Kamala arrives at school with a new spring in her step, confident enough to correct a coach who mispronounces her name and dodge overzealous basketball players in the hallway. Her unflappable strut is cut short when she runs into Kamran (Rish Shah), a handsome and charming new student.
Suspiciously handsome and charming.
I have refrained thus far on this website from explaining just how deeply seen and attacked I feel by “Ms. Marvel,” but watching Kamala get ready to ruin her life for the first attractive brown boy in school hit home a little too hard. Kamran is English which is illegal for crushes and extremely fraught for children of colonialism!

Kevin Feige and Marvel have never been ones to shy away in recent years from exploring cultural diversity. Lintz - who you've probably seen on "The Walking Dead," "The Alienist," and "Pixels" - plays Kamala's best friend/love interest Bruno Carrelli. "Bruno is the tech-savvy best friend of Kamala. He's very empathetic, very loyal,...

Marvel’s first Muslim-American teenage superhero is here.
The first two episodes of “Ms. Marvel” dropped on Disney+ on Wednesday June 8 and it’s already bound to be as successful as the platform’s growing slate of original series such as “WandaVision” and “Loki.”
Created by Bisha K. Ali, the series follows 16 year-old Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) who spends her days creating Avengers fan fiction and playing video games in Jersey City. But everything changes when she gains superpowers of her own.
In addition to Vellani, who makes her TV debut with this role, the series also stars Matt Lintz as her tech-savvy best friend Bruno; Yasmeen Fletcher as another friend Nakia; Saagar Shaikh as her brother; and Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur as her mom and dad, respectively.

“Ms. Marvel”, a six-episode series, is the newest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also known as the MCU. Debuting on Disney+ on June 8th, the series is based on the very popular comic book of the same name. However, this series takes the story into a whole new and exciting frame. I was granted an early look at the first two episodes, and they were so intriguing I can’t wait to see what happens next. But more on that in a minute!
First, let’s set the scene to give you a feel for the show.
Marvel Studios’ “Ms. Marvel” introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero megafan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school...

The best and worst thing I can say about Ms. Marvel is that there are long stretches where it’s easy to forget it’s a Marvel show.
You may have noticed that there have been a lot of movies and TV shows set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the last few years. Like, an amount equivalent to how big Ant-Man got during the airport fight in Captain America: Civil War. Most of these have been good. Some have been substantially better than that. And a few, like the...

It’s wild to realize while watching “Ms. Marvel” that the studio’s newest heroine would have been about 2 years old in 2008, the year “Iron Man” kick-started Marvel’s sprawling cinematic universe as we know it. Like the comic books that inspired it, the on-screen MCU has officially become old enough to spawn a literal new generation of superheroes who grew up watching the Avengers shoot through time and space and back again to stop the bad guys. Now, some 15 years later, they’re getting their own shows to do the same.
“Hawkeye” laid the groundwork for such an evolution in 2021, with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) learning and fighting alongside her archery idol. This summer, “Ms. Marvel” has arrived to tell an entirely different kind of story, though with a character who shares Kate’s stubborn spark. Created by Bisha K. Shortly after Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), the heroine of Disney+’s Ms. Marvel, gains her powers, her best friend Bruno (Matt Lintz) asks her what it feels like to wield them. She gazes with awe at her own right hand, sheathed in crystalline layers of blue light. “Like an idea come to life,” she answers.
It’s a tidy description of her gifts, which (in a departure from the comics, where she’s able to manipulate the size and shape of her body) allow her to solidify that light into shields or stepping stones or whatever else she can imagine. It’s also her tale in a nutshell. More than perhaps any other character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kamala is the pure embodiment of fangirl wish fulfillment. It’s downright audacious that Marvel is now making TV shows about Avengers superfans, but despite that thoroughly meta invitation to egomania, real-life MCU diehards are in for a treat with “Ms. Marvel.”
First introduced in a 2013 comic by Sana Amanat, “Ms. Marvel” is the story of Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a nerdy New Jersey teen obsessed with Captain Marvel who ends up gaining her own superpowers and moniker. The Disney+ adaptation comes from creator and head writer Bisha K. Ali (executive story editor on “Loki“), with executive producers Adil and Bilall. Despite the young protagonist, “Ms. Marvel” is as universal as “Spider-Man” or “Hawkeye” or any Disney+ series before it.
Episode 1 introduces us to Kamala, content with her friends, family, and phantasmagoria as she daydreams through class and uploads YouTube videos about her favorite superhero, Captain Marvel. Her dearest ambition in life is to get her driver’s license...

“Ms. Marvel” is only the second Marvel Disney+ series to drop in 2022 and already it feels like a 180 degree heel-turn from the last one, “Moon Knight.” Where Oscar Isaac’s Mark Spector was moody and dark with barely any connection to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Ms. Marvel’s” main character Kamala Khan, played by the delightful Iman Vellani, is a bright, funny Avengers fangirl whose powers literally sparkle.
Ever since Kamala punched her way into comics in 2013 with her “embiggened” fist, the Pakistani-American teen has been one of the most popular original Marvel characters. Adapted to the screen by head writer Bisha K. Ali, not only is “Ms. Marvel” one of the most highly anticipated comic book adaptations to hit the streaming service, the character will make history as the first Muslim-American superhero show created for the franchise.

There’s no rest for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just one month after the conclusion of the Oscar Isaac-led “Moon Knight” and a month before “Thor: Love and Thunder” is slated to hit theaters, the newest series in the interconnected franchise is set to make its Disney+ debut.
Premiering Wednesday, June 8, “Ms. Marvel” stars newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teen from Jersey City who lives and breathes everything Avengers. A megafan of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) who spends what some might say is too much time in a fantasy world of her own creation, Kamala, the MCU’s first Muslim superhero, sees her life changed forever once she discovers she has powers of her own. This shocking discovery, of which only her best friend Bruno (Matt Lintz) is aware, thrusts Kamala into a spotlight she’s not quite ready for, especially since she’s already living...

"If you save one life... you save the world." Disney has debuted another new 60-second "Destiny" trailer for a new Marvel Studios series Ms. Marvel, a sort of spin-off from Captain Marvel, similar to the Hawkeye series about a nerdy fan of the Avengers who ends up becoming a superhero herself. Ms. Marvel introduces us to Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American from Jersey City, NJ who writes superhero fan fiction. She discovers she has her own polymorphous (shape-shifting) powers. The series cast also includes Aramis Knight as "Red Dagger", Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, and Azhar Usman. You know, I honestly think this looks pretty dang good. Like Hawkeye, I wasn't expecting to be into it, but I thoroughly enjoyed that series and there were a few outstanding episodes. Ms. Marvel might just be worth a watch,...

Karpman is a five-time Emmy winner who has scored the music for HBO’s “Lovecraft Country.” She is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having scored the music to the Disney+ series, “What If…?” She’s also been tapped for 2023’s “The Marvels.”

Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel” is set to electrify the big screen in Pakistan. The Marvel Studios series will have a theatrical release in Pakistan through a new initiative by licensee company Hkc Entertainment.
Disney+ currently does not stream direct-to-consumer in the nation, and since “Ms. Marvel” is centered on a Muslim-Pakistani teen — making her Marvel Studios’ first Muslim superhero lead — the decision to host a special theatrical event was a no-brainer for Hkc Entertainment CEO Hammad Chaudhry. The Eid-ul-Fitr holidays are also a cinema-going surge for Pakistani residents.
“The series is a wonderful celebration of Pakistani art, culture and talent as there is such a diverse engagement of Pakistani creatives across the board,” Chaudhry said, as reported by Variety. “We couldn’t have asked for a better Eid gift than this huge announcement.”

Marvel Studios’ new original series “Ms. Marvel” is to be given a unique theatrical release next month in Pakistan. The initiative is pioneered through licensee company Hkc Entertainment.
The decision to give the series a theatrical outing reflects several factors, including the show’s status as the first Marvel series to star a Muslim teen superhero as well as the omission of Pakistan in Walt Disney’s rollout of direct-to-consumer streaming platform Disney+. Other factors include the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays as a cinema-going peak and the underlying growth of the country’s cinema market, where “Spider-Man: No Way Home recently earned some 1.75 million from just 53 venues.

"Maybe they're right... I spend too much time in fantasy-land." Disney has revealed the first official trailer for a new Marvel Studios series called Ms. Marvel, a sort of spin-off from Captain Marvel. This also falls in line with the Hawkeye series from last fall, about a nerdy fan of the Avengers who ends up becoming a superhero herself. Ms. Marvel introduces us to Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American from Jersey City, NJ who writes superhero fan fiction, particularly of Captain Marvel. She learns she has her own polymorphous (shape-shifting) powers. The series cast also includes Aramis Knight as "Red Dagger", Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, and Azhar Usman. This looks fresh and fun! A bit of Turning Red mashed up with Captain Marvel. Perfect song choice for this trailer, too. "Do you know what you are?...

Muslim-Pakistani teen Kamala Khan hails from New Jersey, is an avid gamer with an overactive imagination, and a fervent scribe of fan-fiction. Oh, and she also happens to have some crazy superpowers of her own once after exposure to a mist turns her into a polymorph and gives her body the ability to stretch in almost any way possible. Welcome Marvel Studios’ first Muslim superhero lead to the screen with “Ms. Marvel,” the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe series, which hits the Disney+ arrival June 8. Watch the trailer below.
In the footage below, we see Kamala Khan try to attempt a balance of high school, family life, the general pangs of teenagehood, and, of course, her budding superpowers.
