Plot: The new epic chapter in the battle for Castle Grayskull!. The newly mechanized Skeletor, armed with Motherboard’s might, attacks Eternia’s heart while Prince Adam grapples with a new responsibility and what that means for him as He-Man!
Review: Back in 2021, I gave a glowing review to Kevin Smith’s revival of He-Man. Titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the Netflix original was released in two five-episode drops, both of which I loved. A blend of modern animation techniques coupled with a throwback to the Filmation style of the 1980s cartoon, Revelation was blasted online by a vocal minority who disliked Smith’s decision to “kill off” Prince Adam in the first episode and make the series centered on Teela and many of the female characters. This article contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revolution.
Episode 3 of Masters of the Universe: Revolution features former Man-At-Arms Duncan (Liam Cunningham) and wizard Orko (Griffin Newman) achieving an important goal, enhancing He-Man’s Sword of Power. To do this, Duncan goes to the one person he believes can do it, a locksmith who is, “small in stature and tall on talent.”
That locksmith is a short creature named Gwildor (Ted Biaselli.)
For those not well-versed in their Masters of the Universe franchise lore, Gwildor doesn’t come from the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Filmation cartoon. He actually debuted in the 1987 live-action movie, Masters of the Universe, played by Billy Barty. In that film he was also a locksmith whose main purpose in the plot was as the creator of the Cosmic Key, the object used to transport He-Man and company to Earth in that film.

He-Man once again has the power in Masters of the Universe: Revolution, and he’s back astride Battle Cat to face Skeletor and other evil forces in the ultimate war for Eternia. After the events of Masters of the Universe: Revelation, fans can expect a return to Motu’s roots in Revolution: nostalgic but cranked-up visuals and fight scenes from Powerhouse Animation Studios; an epic metal score by composer Bear McCreary; and a plot that puts the focus back on the legendary conflict between He-Man (Chris Wood) and Skeletor (Mark Hamill). “We’ve been building to this ultimate battle,” says Rob David, executive producer and Mattel vice president. “Their battle, especially in Revolution, encapsulates every theme of Masters of the Universe: magic vs. technology, good vs. evil, self-empowerment vs. duty to others. It’s all there in every punch.”

“Thanks to the SAG strike, I’m the most famous person here,” joked Kevin Smith at a San Diego Comic-Con panel for Netflix/Mattel’s Masters of the Universe: Revolution.
Smith says that the panel today is different than originally planned, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, but says the actors are doing what they need to do for their union. “Let’s give it up for unions! Spoiler Warning: Do not read if you’ve not seen the first five episodes of “Masters of the Universe: Revelation,” streaming now on Netflix.
Kevin Smith nearly turned down “He-Man.”
In early 2019, the iconoclastic filmmaker, podcast host and foul-mouthed bon vivant got a call from his agent. Mattel, the toy company, wanted to meet, but they required that Smith sign an NDA first. So Smith asked where their offices were located.
“He’s like, ‘El Segundo,’ and I’m like, ‘Fucking Santa Monica? I’m not going out there!'” Smith said. “So, I passed. And then they called back, and he was like, ‘They said they’d come to your house.’ I was like, ‘Oh, that’s great. Yeah, send them over. I’ll talk whatever they want to talk about.'”
Sometime later, Rob David, vice president of content creative at Mattel Television, rolled up to Smith’s Hollywood Hills home.

Lost in Space has been renewed by Netflix for a third season, in which The Robinson Family’s epic space journey towards Alpha Centauri will conclude.
While the series is coming to a close, Netflix and Lost in Space Executive Producer/ showrunner Zack Estrin have agreed to enter a multi-year overall deal to produce new series exclusively at Netflix.
It also sounds like the decision to end the series was all Estrin.
Estrin says, “From the beginning, we've always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy."
"A three part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end. It's also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission -- it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith... and The Robot."
"And, of course, Debbie the Chicken.

“From the beginning, we’ve always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy,” Estrin said. “A three part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle and end. It’s also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission — it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith… and The Robot.

The Movie Pool goes Awol for the G.I. Joe: Renegades Season One Blu-ray!
The Set-up
This latest incarnation of the iconic G.I. Joe franchise follows a group of modern-day soldiers who go rogue after being framed as terrorists by an evil corporation called Cobra.
The Delivery
This Blu-ray set includes all 26 episodes of the outstanding animated series that premiered in November 2010 on The Hub TV network. Our initial review of the Renegades Season One, Volume One DVD set (which you can read here) pointed out a lot that we liked about this new take on G.I. Joe, and some things that we didn't like. Thankfully, having taken in a full season of the show, the pluses far outweigh the minuses.
Utilizing the original characters introduced in the classic A Real American Hero animated series of the 1980s, this new spin takes a handful of core characters (Duke, Scarlett,...

There are few horror icons who are instantly recognizable. Karloff, Lugosi, Price, Cushing, Lee ... but there are even less who are women. Arguably the most recognizable of these is the luscious Elvira - Mistress of the Dark and her creator, Cassandra Peterson.
Elvira came into the public eye in the late spring of 1981 when Peterson auditioned for a horror movie host role at Khj-tv when the powers-that-be there sent out a casting all for someone to host their weekly horror show. The sultry Elvira - clad in a black, gothic, cleavage-enhancing gown - soon became a cultural phenomenon. With her dark, Morticia Addams-like makeup, a towering black beehive wig, and wickedly vampish appearance, her comical character was offset by a quirky, quick-witted personality and valley girl-type speech. Soon, her influence was seen on everything from beverage ads to pinball games to major motion pictures.

Entertainment One will distribute the enw Elvira’s Movie Macabre on home video and digital in North America in June, 2011.
Remember how Elvira relaunched her show this past fall? Did you not watch? I agree. It got shitty show times - often past midnight. What old person can stay up that late???
Now you can watch the new series and really enjoy it at a regular time, like 3Pm in the afternoon, with some weak tea and an egg-salad sandwich. The way Elvira meant it to be watched. Her show, Elvira's Movie Macabre, was relaunched this past fall and originally aired in the 1980s before half you little shits were even born.
The double-feature releases from Entertainment One will pair such really unwatchable public domain shit as George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead with I Eat Your Skin and a double-bill of Hammer Film’s The Satanic Rites of Dracula...
