In 2006, Stephen King's "Lisey's Story" won the Bram Stoker Award for its meticulous exploration of the art of writing, entwined with how repressed memories burst to the surface and begin to define who we are. King's novel examines what it means to be an author, where a mythical pool is likened to a wellspring of creativity, with the ability to both agonize and heal. Compared to most of King's works, "Lisey's Story" is a tad harder to breeze through — however, the halting nature of the story perfectly encapsulates the complexities of writing about something personal, along with the myriad emotions it evokes. This story in particular also holds deep personal meaning for King, contributing to the fact that it is still one of his favorite works.

Randy Fullmer, a veteran Walt Disney Animation Studios animator and producer who worked on “The Little Mermaid” and “Chicken Little,” died of cancer on July 10. He was 73. Walt Disney Animation confirmed the news in a statement to Variety.
“Most people are good at one thing in their lives. Randy was good at a lot of things,” wrote Don Hahn, whom Fullmer worked with on “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Lion King.” “He could draw and paint beautifully, but he had the mind of an engineer, and the heart of an artisan. He was great at animation; great at producing movies, too. He was at the very center of the Disney renaissance in animation, then when he needed a new chapter in his life, he started making exquisite and much sought-after bass guitars with that same engineer’s mind and artistic soul he brought to Disney animated movies. Of all the advice Stephen King offers in On Writing, “write what you know” may be the best. It’s certainly advice he follows as his vast catalogue is bursting with writers and the occasional villainous scribe. With King’s last literary outing as Richard Bachman behind them, the Losers round up all of King’s fictional writers to duke it out in a March Madness style tournament.
Join Losers’ Club co-host Jenn Adams as she cues up the arena rock and tips off a series of head-to-head battles in which an expert panel that includes fellow co-hosts Michael Roffman, Dan Caffrey, and Julia Marchese slowly narrow down the field to an epic, final showdown. Nail-biters and buzzer-beaters abound in our quest to identify King’s ultimate writer.
Who wins? Play along and find out!

“Everything the same?” This is how Scott Landon, one of many writer characters in the written works of Stephen King, greets his wife, Lisey, when coming home from a hard day of catatonic gazing by the dream pool. Like many creative people, he’s half in this world and half out. His favorite haunt is Boo’ya Moon, […]

Apple TV Plus’ “Lisey’s Story” has been adapted for TV by Stephen King and is based on his bestselling 2006 novel of the same name. The story flits between past and present, fantasy and reality. Directed by “Jackie’s” Pablo Larrain, the audience never fully knows which is which, and in this perfect union of Larrain and King, it makes for a compelling watch.
The series stars Julianne Moore as Lisey Landon. Two years after the death of her husband, world-renowned novelist Scott Landon, Lisey has to face memories of her life and marriage to Scott, which leads her to face visions of unsettling realities.
However, it was up to production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas to bring King’s world to life, delivering his vision as well as Larrain’s. Much of the story centers around a New York farmhouse, a pool and a fantastical dream world of Boo’ya Moon.

Perhaps almost being killed may cause Lisey's eyes to be opened.
Sadly, that was still to be determined following Lisey's Story Season 1 Episode 4.
That's because while Lisey accepted Scott's weirdness, she has repressed memories about conversations and events connected to it, for her own sanity.
Only now insanity reigned all around her. It wasn't just Scott anymore, or her mentally ill sister Amanda. Her biggest problem lately was Jim Dooley, Scott's psychotic superfan.
Lisey was discovering that Hamlet nailed it: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
Scott's Bool hunt had been causing Lisey to open her mind. But that has been something fun, a way to stay in touch with Scott with the prize possibly being something that could help the catatonic Amanda.
There is nothing enjoyable about Dooley. He's dangerous strange, not kooky strange.
Dana DeHaan has been mesmerizing as Dooley.

Many authors claim that when they’re writing, they go to a different world hidden deep inside their imagination. For Lisey’s Story‘s Scott Landon, that world may be more real than fantasy.

“Lisey’s Story” is a battle. It starts in the early going of the new Apple TV+ limited series — directed by Pablo Larraín and adapted by Stephen King from his own 2006 novel — as it puts viewers through a kind of disorienting endurance test.
Lisey (Julianne Moore), still mourning the death of her late husband and world-renowned author Scott Landon (Clive Owen), is left to piece together the fractured timeline of their romance. From the early days of his fledgling career to their beachside wedding to the day of an unexpected attack, Lisey seems to be captive to those time-hopping thoughts, unsure what to do next.
All the while, the show is meticulously hinting at a tranquil world beyond memory. It’s rendered in stark blues and oranges, complete with marbleized faces and onlookers both rapt and wrapped. What it all means isn’t abundantly clear, but the longer “Lisey’s Story” goes,...

When your partner is a celebrity, you share him or her with the world.
That's the hard lesson that Lisey Landon learned on Lisey's Story Season 1 Episode 1 and Lisey's Story Season 1 Episode 2.

The stuff of nightmares. On Tuesday, May 11, Apple TV+ released the first trailer for their new thriller, Lisey's Story. And while Lisey reveals that her husband "had a history of becoming unstuck to reality," it appears that she too is struggling to figure out what's real and what's not. "Was it real?" You’re freaking us the hell out, Clive Owen (and Stephen King)
Pro tip: Watch “Lisey’s Story” with all of the lights on. And maybe a friend. Or a spouse. At least a dog.
On Tuesday, Apple TV+ unveiled the trailer for the series adapted from the Stephen King novel. Yeah, it’s a pretty creepy one — you’ll forgive Julianne Moore (who plays the title role of Lisey Landon) for those repetitive night terrors. Actually, amid your binge of the show’s eight episodes, you may join her in the nightmare routine.
J.J. Abrams pitched in on turning the best seller into a streaming series, but King actually wrote this show himself. That’s rare for the king of modern-day horror.
In addition to Moore, “Lisey’s Story” also stars Clive Owen, Joan Allen, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Dane DeHaan, Ron Cephas Jones and Sung Kang.
