Kevin Ryder, who spent 30 years at Kroq-fm as one-half of the popular “Kevin & Bean” morning drive show, is launching a daily YouTube series that highlights positive stories in the news.
In his first official gig since Kroq fired him in March, Ryder will partner with Mike Catherwood to host “Great News with Kevin & Mike” starting January 4. “Great News” will be distributed as both a video series on YouTube but also as an audio podcast. The show is reunion of sorts for Ryder and Catherwood, who spent several years as a board operator on “Kevin & Bean” and regularly appeared on that show.
“I really connect with those stories that there are still good people out there, and still doing good things, and if everybody was like that, this life would be a lot better,” Ryder said. “There are endless stories. You just have to look a little bit. It’s just...

On Wednesday morning, Mike Catherwood spent an hour on a call with Quibi executives for his new animated project, “Rudy.” Then, he went to pick up his daughter from school. By the time he got home, Quibi was dead.
“I have to assume that those executives didn’t know,” Catherwood told Variety. “Otherwise they’re really good actors. Because we had an hourlong conversation about moving forward in scripts, like what’s working on script number three and what’s not. To then read the news, I was completely blown away.”
Catherwood, whose project had been greenlighted, but not yet officially announced, is one of presumably dozens of series creators and showrunners who find themselves — and their shows — in limbo now that Quibi has called it quits.

Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K.: As the cavalcade of Hollywood sexual harassers and assaulters grows, at some point we have to confront the inevitable — Are they scorched earth, or should these people be considered candidates for redemption?
Bryan Cranston poked his head above the fray to suggest they might. “We shouldn’t close it off and say, ‘To hell with [them], rot, and go away from us for the rest of your life,'” he said in a BBC interview. “Let’s leave it open for the few who can make it through that gauntlet of trouble and who have reclaimed their life and their dignity and their respect for others. Maybe it’s possible.”
Comedian Bill Burr told a podcast audience said that C.K. — who admitted to masturbating in front of women without their consent after five accusers spoke to The New York Times — “was 100% wrong,...

Nelson Mandela -- the man who motivated and led South Africa out of a system of racial segregation -- passed away on Thursday, he was 95. South African President Jacob Zuma announced the news, releasing the following statement: "He is now resting. He is now at peace. Our nation has lost its greatest son. Our people have lost a father."Coincidentally, Nelson's death was announced the same day as the Royal film performance of "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" -- both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in attendance. Over the past few months, Mandela had been battling a severe lung infection and was hospitalized numerous times. The former South African president led one incredibly heroic life -- from freedom fighter, to prisoner and as most importantly, as the country's moral leader. Nelson Mandela will be dearly missed. Stars have been turning to Twitter to share their reactions surrounding the loss the late political activist.

The daytime talk show world is abuzz with two new entries: "Kris" and "The Real." Both shows filmed last week and toofab was lucky enough to catch the very first tapings of both!"Kris" debuts in six markets today: New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Minneapolis, Phoenix and The Carolinas.Today's premiere features cameos by Kris Jenner's daughters Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian; Kim Kardashian has yet to appear in public since giving birth. And despite rumors, Kim's newborn baby North West will Not appear. That show actually taped Friday; the one toofab attended -- with guest host Mike Catherwood -- taped Thursday. We respect the momager-turned-host's ambition but her show definitely has a few kinks to work out. Kris and Mike were entertaining, but their chemistry felt a little forced. One segment in particular -- learning how to lasso -- seemed out of place and had little real-world application.

The hoopla surrounding "The X Factor" going into its second season has been all about its new pair of judges, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. But the show is also looking for new hosts, and the field appears to be narrowing.
Series creator and judge Simon Cowell said in a recent chat with reporters that he wants two hosts, a man and a woman, and that he's taking his time with the search (auditions have been taped without a host backstage). He also said he's "narrowed it down to five people."
According to a couple of reports, though, about twice that many people may be in contention. Both EW and E! Online cite Mario Lopez and Stacy Keibler as contenders. EW also says Rocsi Diaz of Bet's "106 & Park," comedian Stevie Ryan (VH1's "Stevie TV") and "Vampire Diaries" actress Kat Graham are in the mix.

The Choice: Cat Deeley hosts The Choice, the new celebrity dating game show with a twist premiering Thursday, June 7 (9:00-10:00 Pm Et/Pt) on Fox. 2012 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Mathieu Young/Fox
Under a new rhyming scheme spin-off model for new shows, you’ll soon be able to watch The Choice, and see celebrities submit themselves to a blind date experiment. It’s The Voice‘s “no see” format, but now eligible celebrities are choosing potential romantic partners.
It’s bound to be crazy, and some of the “celebrities” only have loose ties to the claim, but it certainly looks to be the sort of madness people will check out.
Is this show too much? Let me know your thoughts. This falls into a category of reality that I find hard to predict, and I’d love to know if people are looking forward to it.

Celebrities: They're just as obsessed with reality TV as we are! That's why Mike Catherwood, former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant and Dr. Drew's "Loveline" co-host, has signed on to host Spike TV's first-ever live auction event in the "Auction Hunters" Season 3 premiere.
Zap2it can exclusively reveal that "Auction Hunters: Live" will kick off a brand-new season of the network's highest-rated unscripted series on Wednesday, March 21 at 9 p.m. Et. Hosted by Catherwood -- who has a storage unit himself and is a huge fan of the show -- the live edition will condense the work usually done by Allen Haff and Ton Jones in one week into just one hour.
That means they'll have to buy a storage unit, dig through it and choose items they want to sell to the experts who'll be gathered on set. The live broadcast will take place at a high-end auction in Los Angeles.
