So, Mortal Kombat took the fighting game by storm, and made it a worthy opponent to Capcom’s Street Fighter II. The obvious question after that is: How do you follow up that success? The obvious answer came in November 1993 with Mortal Kombat II. Was it more of the same? Not quite. Building upon the framework of the original game, Mkii honed what made the original game so great, added more Kombatants, more Fatalities, more secrets, and in general just gave fans more of what they craved in pixelated blood.
Mortal Kombat II picks up after the events of the previous tournament, where Shaolin warrior Liu Kang had defeated both the reigning Mortal Kombat champion Goro and the shapeshifting sorcerer Shang Tsung. Shang is brought before his master, Shao Kahn, the supreme ruler of Outworld, begging Kahn to spare his life. Shao Kahn relents after hearing Shang Tsung’s new...

Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly… Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: No. 1 Contenders Tag Team Turmoil – Winners: The Creed Brothers The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
#DIY def. Alpha Academy – Otis and Akira Tozawa teamed for the first time as Alpha Academy got Tag Team Turmoil underway against Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. Tozawa and Otis looked great, hitting a tandem Caterpillar before going for a high-risk move. The risk did not pay off, however, as #DIY dispatched Alpha Academy with the Meeting in the Middle.
#DIY def. Indus Sher – Indus Sher emerged next to face #DIY, with Sanga and Veer making an immediate impact by driving Gargano and Ciampa into the ring post. Gargano was able to stun Veer with a rollup to keep rolling in Tag Team Turmoil.

Jax has some advice for anyone looking to make it on TikTok. "Do not hold back," she tells Popsugar. "Literally, do not hold back."
It's a lesson that took her a minute to learn. "I spent my whole life as a songwriter with negative dollars in my bank account, wondering why people don't care," she says. "And it's because I held back in every way. I listened to every whisper in my ear about what I should and shouldn't be doing, what's cool and what's not cool, instead of just naturally doing what felt right. The first time things started working for me was when I just stopped caring and I didn't hold back, and I just unapologetically posted my music."
Since then, Jax has clearly taken her own advice and run with it. Following the success of her 2022 hit "Victoria's Secret," the star's career has been on a rapid upswing.

The award-winning script for Still has successfully completed its crowdfunding campaign on Seed & Spark with a final amount raised of $18,682.
Production for Still is scheduled to begin end of May 2023. The film stars Rakefet Abergel as Aliya, a woman struggling with the realities of a tragic pregnancy loss.
“I suffered a miscarriage about a year and a half ago and it was heartbreaking. Still is about how hard it is to survive losing a child – a child you held or one you never met. It’s about how well-meaning words can feel empty, meaningless, and hurtful to someone suffering a loss,” said Abergel, who also wrote, and will produce and direct the film. “If you’ve lost a baby, I hope this film brings you healing and inspires understanding in others.”
Still is the third film from Abergel’s production company, Cyclamen Films. Her first two films, Jax in Love and Boo,...

(Welcome to Animation Celebration, a recurring feature where we explore the limitless possibilities of animation as a medium. In this edition: "Fired on Mars.")
I've dedicated a lot of time to writing about the various ways the Hollywood machine disrespects the work of those in the animation field, which is to say I'm completely unsurprised that HBO Max released their new series, "Fired on Mars," with little fanfare. This is the same streaming app that quietly removed a massive chunk of its animation library for tax write-offs, and one that's run by a billionaire CEO who thinks a "love of working" will end the current WGA strike, rather than, you know, paying them fairly.
It's doubly ironic considering "Fired on Mars" is a show about a man named Jeff who gave up everything he held dear for the job opportunity of a lifetime, only to be unappreciated and tossed onto...

A sequel to the Mortal Kombat movie from 2021 is on the way, and The Wrap reports tonight that Karl Urban (“The Boys”) is in final talks to join the cast as Johnny Cage.
The Wrap reminds, “Johnny Cage was introduced in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game in 1992. Johnny Cage is depicted as an action movie star with an extensive martial arts background. He is often characterized as a swashbuckling, Hollywood fighting movie star who places great importance on his image and consistently behaves in a cool manner.”
The star of Amazon’s hit series “The Boys,” Karl Urban turns 50 years old next month, so this particular take on the classic Mortal Kombat character is sure to be different than expected. Many fans had been lobbying for WWE superstar The Miz to play Cage in the upcoming sequel, but Urban’s casting will bring a whole new facet to the character.

When people ask me to explain the appeal of Vanderpump Rules, a Bravo reality series documenting the carousing, shtupping, and treachery of some habitual-line-stepping L.A. hustlers, I usually tell them it’s a soap opera centering the most messed-up friend group (a family, really) you’ve ever laid eyes on that, despite their backstabbery, always forgives one another. There’s something oddly comforting about it. To watch their chaotic lives puts your own into perspective. You may be having a bad day, sure, but your best bud never had...

A few months ago, it seemed like Vanderpump Rules was winning first place in a marathon to get to the TV graveyard.
The numbers were not great for the last couple of years, with the erosion buoyed mainly by a lack of drama following the firings of several controversial cast members.
That all changed when one of the most shocking affairs in TV history was exposed.
Yes -- even more shocking than Jax & Faith and Jax & Kristen.
Vanderpump Rules thrives on the drama from the cast members' lives, but nothing could prepare them for the media attention for Scandoval.
Tom Sandoval, who was in a relationship with co-star Ariana Madix, had been having an affair with Raquel Leviss.
It was so shocking because the previews for Vanderpump Rules Season 10 teased a pairing between Leviss and Tom Schwartz.
It is certainly a tale of two Toms in the trailer for the forthcoming season finale.

Ariana Madix recently found herself in one of the biggest scandals in Vanderpump Rules history. The reality TV star discovered that her partner, Tom Sandoval, had cheated on her with their friend, Raquel Leviss. The affair also reportedly went on for several months.
While fans and fellow cast members reacted strongly to the scandal, Madix has remained calm and composed in public. According to former Vanderpump Rules star Jax Taylor, Madix feels like a “completely different person” now.

The Vanderpump Rules cast questioned why Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss were out together at The Abbey and Brittany Cartwright had her own brush with the Scandoval that left her speechless.
For the first time this season, a few Vanderpump Rules cast members like Katie Maloney and Ally Lewber questioned why Sandoval and Leviss were out dancing at The Abbey at 1:00 a.m. Cartwright now questions a moment and a photo that was taken of her on the red carpet alongside Sandoval and Leviss.

In early March, Tennessee became the first state to ban drag shows in public places.
The state’s Republican governor, Bill Lee, signed a bill that banned “adult cabaret entertainment” on public property or in locations where it can be viewed by minors, including “topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators, or similar entertainers.”
Critics of the law, which went into effect April 1, say that categorizing drag as “adult entertainment” automatically deems them sexualized performances. They also argue the language surrounding “male and female impersonators” is inherently anti-trans.
At least a dozen other states are considering similar anti-drag legislation. It was a topic of discussion at the recent taping of the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” finale.
For Season 15 contestant Aura Mayari, the anti-drag law hits close to home. “I am from Tennessee,” Mayari told TheWrap. “I always say, just keep your head up. There’s a whole community behind you.

In the streaming era, there's no shortage of steamy, new-adult romance dramas to choose between - think: the "After" series, "Euphoria," and "Bridgerton" - so any new project entering into the genre's landscape has to set itself apart. Thankfully, Kiana Madeira, Ross Butler, and Matthew Noszka's new movie "Perfect Addiction," which hit Amazon Prime Video on April 14, succeeds at that with flying colors.
The movie follows a mixed martial arts trainer named Sienna (Madeira) who - after devoting much of her life to training and taking care of her reigning champion fighter boyfriend, Jax (Noszka) - finds out he's been cheating on her with her sister. Tea was spilled. Dirt was dished. And some queens got some long-awaited grievances off their chests.
The reunion gave us a 2-hour montage of unfiltered fun and edited segments on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 15 Episode 15.
Even if the competition comes first, the reunion always finds a way to give us the needed drama. This special is welcomed and a must-have for every year!
A good reunion needs a few key things: the queens being together in person, an openness to spill all the tea, and some drama in and out of the competition.
"Reunited" checked many of the boxes we'd come to expect; the reunion was a good time that mainly stayed upbeat. Though, for a 2-hour show, it felt like many of the queens were silent or were staying in their "Congenial Era."
Like why did a good number of queens not talk as much?

Vanderpump Rules has seen a few cast members come and go, but season 1 star Laura-Leigh is still a standout years after leaving the Bravo show. Where is Laura-Leigh now, and what has she been up to since appearing on the reality TV series?
Laura-Leigh Moser | Kevin Winter/Getty Images Who is Laura-Leigh on ‘Vanderpump Rules’?
Laura-Leigh Moser only appeared in the first season of Vanderpump Rules, but she made an indelible mark on the Bravo show.
She started dating main cast member Jax Taylor shortly after his breakup with Stassi Schroeder. Their rebound relationship made waves among their fellow cast members and Sur servers. Laura-Leigh opened up on the show about her addiction to drugs and alcohol. She invited Jax to attend an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting with her, and he promptly dumped her afterward.

Jax Taylor has plenty of experience with making Vanderpump Rules producers angry and recently said he has no doubts that Raquel Leviss left producers “fuming.”
Prior to filming the highly anticipated reunion, Leviss openly chatted with a reporter outside of a nail salon. She answered nearly all of the reporter’s questions, which were likely reunion hot topics. Taylor said that Leviss essentially “spoiled” the reunion by spilling all that tea and knows he would have been in serious hot water if he did anything like that when he was on the show.

Season 10 of Vanderpump Rules has had a cloud hanging over it by the name of “Scandoval.” In the middle of the season airing, news broke that star Tom Sandoval was cheating on his longtime girlfriend, fellow Pump Rules star Ariana Madix, with another Vpr co-star, Raquel Leviss. According to another figure on the show, Jax Taylor, Sandoval’s relationship with Leviss might not be the only relationship Sandoval was engaged in.

Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix were together for nearly a decade before news of Scandoval hit the media. Rumors first began to swirl that Sandoval was romantically involved with Raquel Leviss in late 2022. The news broke in March 2023.
The news came as a shock to much of the Vanderpump Rules cast, as Leviss was seemingly previously interested in co-star Tom Schwartz.

If you’ve ever found yourself cheering for Big Brother’s Dick Donato or Daniel Durston, or tuning in to The Traitors just for the back-stabbing, then E!’s rumored upcoming show might be your cup of tea. House of Villains is a largely unconfirmed project from the network that first brought us Keeping Up With the Kardashians. And, if the rumors are true, it promises to be a dark and twisty good time.
Given that the entire premise is based on putting reality TV’s most hated and most unlikable villains in a house together, this potential new series won’t be for the faint of heart. Here’s what we know about the project, including rumored cast members and what will-be fans are saying about it already.

Most of us like to cheer for the underdog or the sweetheart. But those characters wouldn’t be the favorites in their stories without the villains they face. But what happens in a plot where all of the cast is cut from the same twisted cloth? If rumors are to be trusted, that’s the premise of an upcoming new reality TV show from E! called House of Villains.
The series will put all of the biggest villains from across the unscripted universe on a collision course. The most cunning, sly — and dare we say unlikeable — cast members from franchises like Real Housewives, The Challenge, and The Bachelor will compete against one another to crown an ultimate villain hero. And, it might all be hosted by a real-life conwoman.
