“The Recruit” producer P3 Media has scored a seven-figure investment from Ready Entertainment, a company led by Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter, Bernice A. King, and Ashley Bell.
Founded by journalist Adam Ciralsky (the inspiration for Netflix’s hit Noah Centineo-led spy thriller “The Recruit”), P3 is expanding its lineup with upcoming feature doc “The Return.” That title, produced alongside Ciralsky’s P3 partner Gene Klein, centers on the White House’s efforts to free Americans held hostage abroad. “With unprecedented access, the film chronicles high stakes and unconventional efforts to free Eyvin Hernandez, an L.A. County public defender who has been held in Venezuela since March 2022,” per P3.
“This is an extraordinary film about a remarkable individual who has been held in a foreign prison for the crime of being an American,” said King, who along with Bell will join Ciralsky and Klein as an executive producer on the film.

Producer Gene Klein has joined P3 Media, the production banner behind Netflix’s “The Recruit,” as a partner.
Klein will lead development efforts for the company formed in 2018 by journalist and producer Adam Ciralsky. The series, created and executive produced by Alexi Hawley, debuted Dec. 16 on Netflix. “The Recruit” has been a strong performer in numerous major territories for the streamer.
“Gene is a creative force with great instincts and incredible relationships across the industry,” Ciralsky said.
P3 Media has a first-look deal with ABC Signature. The company bills itself as an “artist-driven IP accelerator.” Klein is an experienced producer who helped shepherd the pilots for USA Network dramas “Suits” and “Covert Affairs.” He also worked for many years with director-producer Doug Liman and Dave Bartis at Hypnotic.

Netflix’s “The Recruit,” an upcoming spy series starring “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” alum Noah Centineo, has debuted its first look images. The eight-episode show, about a young CIA lawyer named Owen Hendricks (Centineo) hoping to make a mark in his field, premieres Dec. 16.
The plot unravels as Owen’s “first week on the job turns upside down when he discovers a threatening letter by former asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock), who plans to expose the agency unless they exonerate her of a serious crime.” That’s when the rookie hopeful becomes entangled in a “dangerous and often absurd world of power politics and mischievous players” as he travels internationally in hopes of completing his assignment and impressing his superiors at the agency.

"The Hurt Locker" procucer Nicolas Chartier and his Voltage Pictures label have acquired the life rights of Erik Prince, the founder of the infamous private military company Blackwater.
Based on Prince's autobiography "Civilian Warriors" and Adam Ciralsky's Vanity Fair article "Tycoon, Contractor, Soldier, Spy," the project follows the rise and fall of Prince's intensely secretive and highly controversial company.
Prince was a former Navy Seal and heir to an auto-parts fortune. He founded Blackwater in a North Carolina swampland in order to build the world’s finest special forces training facility. After 9/11, Blackwater became an extension of the U.S. intelligence community.
After a Blackwater team was charged with killing over a dozen civilians in Baghdad in 2007, Prince was outed as a CIA asset and wound up on Al-Qaeda’s hit list. He sold his company in 2010 and began working for the crown prince of Abu Dhabi.
Chartier, Ciralsky and Craig Flores will produce.

Many filmmakers are passionate about their work and some even travel to remote parts of the world to tell stories they feel inspired to tell, but Adam Ciralsky's account of filming in Somalia gives the term 'passion project' a whole new meaning. The Emmy award winning filmmaker began his career as an attorney at the CIA and Pentagon before transitioning into the media where he spent a decade writing and producing for CBS’ "60 Minutes," a variety of NBC platforms as well as Vanity Fair magazine. In that time he won several high-profile awards, including a Peabody and a Polk. In 2010, he teamed up with "60 Minutes" colleague, Shawn Efran, to co-direct and co-produce “The Project.” What it's about: “The Project” profiles the precarious, real-life story of the Puntland Maritime Police Force, a shadowy group of pirate hunters.
